Pages does the same thing! Stop telling people to buy Macs! Yes they look nice, have a good user interface and less problems than Windows PCs but they have theyre own problems. Apple charge through the roof for Macs and theres the slight problem of not being able to get half the software (mainly games) you want/need if you own a Mac. For a quick price comparison: Apple Store - £1350 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1GB RAM, 128MB NVidia 7300GT, 250GB Hard Drive Mesh Computers - £950 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 256MB NVidia 7600GT, 320GB Hard Drive See any problem there? The inferior hardware in the Apple is £400 more... A more constructive suggestion would be: http://www.openoffice.org

Or just go to Tesco at night on the 7th/8th December. Im certain they'll get launch stock and as they dont take preorders its first come, first served! Even better, i can kill the hours leading up to launch by going to the pub across the road Im sure big SD cards will work fine, but your better waiting. They go down in price all the time and 4GB and 8GB cards are on their way (not sure where theyve gotten to, release was supposed to be Q2/Q3 06?) Cant find anything on this, its all for CoD1. I'll have a go myself later, im no expert modder but ive made mods for the Total War series of games and UT2004. Should be a simple enough mod hopefully, just change a few text files (you wont be able to play multi-player with that installation though) Do you have the mod tools? Im guessing your supposed to use those

I hear theyve updated the EULA. Its now the same as XP, 1 active copy per license but infinite re-installs. The rest of the licensing stuff sucks though, i can tell i'll be phoning Microsoft up every 2 mins telling them that theyre Anti-Piracy software went off again and i need them to unlock my system (not that i have a lot of pirated software, i just doubt it will like virtual drives, ISO creators etc).

nice idea, but a bit too much hastle really. you'd have to install the US firmware when you want to play/download US games or update the US firmware and then install the Euro firmware everytime you want to play/download PAL games or update the firmware. It'd probably wreak havok with the internal memory too, so you'd need to store stuff on removable cards. Personally, i'd just wait until custom firmware comes out and makes the whole thing region free

I think WMP11 is ok tbh. Cant use iTunes to update the music on my mobile so i use WMP instead (or just drag + drop using Windows Explorer) Warezing Windows is dumb, more hastle than £90 is worth...

erm... isnt that the whole point of business? Shareholders not making any money dont stay shareholders for long. No shareholders = bankrupt business Buy some shares, then it will make you feel good

Steve Irwin's Death - not for the easily offended
McPhee replied to david.dakota's topic in General Chit Chat
just do a searchy on google video, 'south park irwin' theres a 47 second clip of the offending scene -
Yup. Was on PC Advisor + BBC Tech page a few months back. Apparantly its a 'sweetener' to try and get the ipod kids to get a Zune. I would have thought it'd be cheaper for them to just buy this company

True. But as you implied, they are pretty irrelivant to most markets now. What Sony products are actually worth the money these days? The TV market has been taken over by Panasonic, Philips, Samsung and Pioneer (in terms of quality). Portable Music; the iPod. Laptops; Acer, Toshiba, Hewlett Packard. Headphones; Senheisser, Philips. The list goes on, Blu-Ray is pretty much their last chance saloon. My only real problem with the company is that they charge premium price for middling products. They need to pull their heads out of their backsides for a minute and realise they aint market leaders (in quality terms) any more.

The Samsung, without a doubt the best mid-range HDTV manufacturer. Almost up there with the top end of Panasonic/Pioneer/Philips!

Pretty sure they can, the non-itunes store iPod videos are just standard MP4s. Bit like all thos videos that are labeled as being 'for the PSP' Zune wont, however, play music or video bought via the iTunes store. That only works with iPods (without a little tweaking). A nice bonus of the Zune though is Microsoft giving you any stuff you bought over iTunes for free!

You sure its down for 07/08? Taken off zune.net

The iPod isnt that bad. The new one has 15 hours battery life, the nano has 25. Ive never had any bad customer service from Apple, when my iPod broke they came to my door, collected it, phoned me up the next day and said they couldnt fix it then sent me a new one! And they're hardly over priced, most shops have them the same price as players of comparable quality and capacity. Anyway, thats not the topic. Its Zune or Wii. I'd go for the Zune, by the looks of it you have a 360 for gaming already! Wii will no doubt drop in price a bit by summer, and even if it doesnt some of the games will be cheaper.

i was refering to the whole lik-sang thing + the laptop batteries setting fire did i say i think sony are evil? did i say i dont think other companies are evil? no? Really?! Sony blew up the nuns who invented aids? Sony a heroes!

Students get 30% off at Specsavers? They neglected to mention that to me last time i bought a pair of glasses I use contacts these days, much more convenient. A number of things to look for when buying glasses: 1. Only buy from specsavers if they're doing buy one get one free. The offer is on about 60% of the year so if it isnt on now it will be in a few weeks 2. Always order Scratch Proof lenses. You dont want to have to shell out another £100 because you wrecked the lenses 3. If you use a computer a lot then get Glare Reducing lenses. 4. If your likely to need to use glasses outside then make sure your second pair is either tinted or has reactions coating (the brighter the light the darker they get) Laser Eye Surgery sounds horrible, i looked at it once. They cut open the front of your eye, fold it back, shine the laser into your lens to bend it back into shape, replace the front of your eye and then you have to wear special contact lens for a month while your eye heals. They only do it one eye at a time too, so if you found the first time too painfull you still have to go back for more!

The Killers new video - Bones & *PRESALE* Link for New tour dates
McPhee replied to Platty's topic in General Chit Chat
Why do these threads always go down the Indie Kids vs The Metal Kid route? To be honest, i dont think The Bard is far wrong. The Killers latest 2 singles have been terrible, very bland and monotone. Honestly compare the first album to this one, its hardly a step up is it. The appeal of The Killers in the first place was their pop tunes, Mr Brightside, Somebody Told Me etc. but the new album doesnt have any of that. Its just plain bland, bit like the later half of their debut. btw, cheers for the pre-sale link. one of my mates wanted tickets for this so he's happy -
Ive got a mario kart talking watch, mario + zelda bead covers (from when i was little, would be a bit creepy for a 19 year old to use them) and a jumping goomba! Will post pics if i can find.. them, but my parents might have binned them when they moved last year

I would think yes for all the DKC games + Star Fox + Bond (If Activision say its ok, and that would just take a few $'s)
