  1. Man City are absolutely battering Arsenal. 3-0 and five minutes to go before half-time. Sane is insane when he has the ball and Arsenal can't get it off him. Could be 5 or 6.
  2. What I've discovered with VAR is that all they have really done is throw another referee's subjective opinion into the mix, as you've mentioned. I don't know why it is so difficult. Could the problem be that the rules are too subjective? Was it just easier when ANY player stood in an off-side position renders the attack offside when the ball is played forward, for example? Do the rules need tightening up? I was definitely for video technology and I think I still am. But, the implementation has been pretty bad, so far. The sport is a bit of a mess.
  3. It's typical Pixar. Sad in parts, hilarious in others, heart-warming in certain sections and then bittersweet in other areas. It has a bit of everything. It's too good a film to miss out on, imo. In the same way that @Eenuh mentioned with The Lion King, you shouldn't really miss out on a great film because there are some sad sections or subject matter. That actually propels it and makes the heart-warming moments even more poignant. It's good that Pixar have the ability to make you feel a range of emotions. It's a lot more 3-dimensional and more interesting storytelling than "hah, that bit was funny...that bit was also funny".
  4. He might still make it in time for the World Cup...just. And that's if there are no set backs. Even then, he won't be at 100% of his ability. Terrible news for him and Brazil.
  5. That's crazy. Have you got many pupils in at all? What happens to those who don't turn up? Is it considered an acceptable absence? Just bizarre. The sensible thing is to look at what nearby schools are doing. There would have been uproar today had we opened and I can list all of the parents who would have complained at our place had we tried that! Have you had any complaints yet from parents?
  6. Hmm. So the place is still open to the pupils? I was worried that we were going to open today, especially as the snow was meant to get worse at around 10am onwards. It would have made it very difficult for parents to get in and pick up, and there's also the safety aspect. Sometimes it's just easier and logistically better to close the place full stop.
  7. Did the school not just cancel it to all pupils in advance? Our school and virtually every surrounding school has handled it in the same way. Prior message and letter sent out a few days ago to warn parents of the upcoming weather and to keep monitoring the website, facebook page and emails for further information. Then, a message sent out this morning about 2 and a half hours before the start of the school day via the school website, facebook page and through email. School is closed to day pupils, keep checking for further information with regards to tomorrow. The site is empty except for the boarding school kids, which makes sense as they live there, and a few other members of the office and kitchen staff.
  8. That's mega-stressful. Ditch them as soon as you can. Schools are stressful enough without problems like that, which just make it harder.
  9. I'm really not sure if there is a "rest of the world". Finish the rest of the game so that we can talk about it/that! If anything, I hope we get to see another game using that engine. The combat is top class and played really well, and the game stood out visually. Insane looking game.
  10. I knew nothing about Coco before seeing it. A beautiful, gorgeous film. Loved all of it. It just had everything (mostly tears) and was just incredible. Love it when Pixar do films like this!
  11. Incredible game. Still need to play the DLC. Hope we see a follow-up to it at some point, as there definitely is room for a sequel (the ending alluded to it a little with Sylas).
  12. I've never walked out of a film and I'm not sure I would out of principle. If you're watching a film, you should ideally watch it until the end before you have an opinion of it. Imagine watching the first 10 minutes of The Terminator and then deciding it wasn't for you. It's an alien concept to me. Watch the whole lot and then form an opinion of it.
  13. I didn't watch Match of the Day so didn't see the replays of the goal, but it looked like it should have counted. Did the players stop though because I think the ref blew the whistle before the ball went into the net? 2-1 is about right because United had the better chances after equalising and were the better team easily in the second half. Chelsea were strong for the first 20 or so minutes, but then United grew into it. We also made far more positive and better substitutions which swayed the game in our favour. Palace away and then Liverpool and Sevilla at home. Could see us winning all three or losing all three! Haha. Have to laugh at how VAR is being received (yesterday's game between Spurs and Rochdale). They're making a real mess of it.
  14. Bloodborne changed the way that I play games. It altered how I approached games and taught me to be more cautious or daring, depending on the situation. That street with around 20 dudes and the bonfire took me HOURS to get through. It made me a more resilient gamer. The only game ever where it physically made me angry and wanting to snap the disc in two merely hours after playing it.
  15. I actually had no idea about the Olympic bar being able to rotate and spin until the first time that I used one. It's strange, but insanely useful. Hope it'll last me a long time! Looking at maybe getting some dip attachments for the cage. I miss having them in the routine and they're not too expensive.
  16. Alrighty then! Will give it a go at some point. The backlog is just too big, though. I still haven't played last month's games and I've not even touched the Christmas games yet.
  17. I was thinking about this the other day when relating it to voting age. Couldn't they do it so that when you register to vote, you also register your wishes to opt in/out/give consent? I'm all for organ donation and can't think of a specific reason against it. But, the concept of presumed consent is a tricky one, imo. I feel that it's right to still gain the consent of the donor, because they should be given a choice. But at the same time, the education needs to be better to enable them to "want" to make that choice. How that choice is made is what I think needs sorting out. I think I recall ticking a box (organ donation consent) when I had to renew my driving licence?
  18. Never played Ratchet and Clank, so will definitely give that a try. Bloodborne, on the other hand, is one of the best games that I've played. Insane game. Just love the style and look of that game. So many fond memories.
  19. I caught a debate this morning on BBC 1's "The Big Questions" about the subject of organ donation. The discussion revolved around a proposed system of "presumed consent" where everyone is automatically "opted-in" unless you explicitly state that you want to "opt out". Some more details can be found here. My personal opinion is that I believe organ donation to be a good thing and I was initially in favour of "everyone is in unless you decide to opt-out". But now, I'm not sure. The idea of "presumed consent" doesn't quite sit right with me. I still believe that organ donation is a good thing and I've not heard a good enough argument to go against that, but I'm slightly dubious about the "everyone in" method of consent.
  20. In fairness to Wenger, he's got them to a cup final and City have pretty much turned over every other team this season, with few exceptions. There have been moments over the last decade where Wenger should have walked, but hasn't. He'll go out on his own terms and I doubt very much now that the club will sack him. How long does his contract go for? Until next summer? Bet he just signs another extension.
  21. Agreed. I've moved it now. I'm always a bit surprised when I see it pop up in the General Gaming board. Looking forward to hearing more on this. Still holding out on 1+2 being given the HD treatment and put on the PS4.
  22. Quite a poor first half from United and were second best everywhere until Chelsea scored. After that, we grew into the game and were much better in the second half. 2-1 is about right. Aside from Willian, I don't think Chelsea offered a lot. Matic bossed it in midfield, but Lukaku was just fantastic today. Did everything we needed, held the ball up really well, stretched their defence in the second half, and finished the game with a goal and a winning-assist. Really good from him. Willian is such a good player. Moved really well with the ball and just opened up so much space for his team. The sort of thing Martial should be doing for us.
  23. Thinking about putting stiff legged or Romanian deadlifts back into my routine. Did some stiff legged deadlifts yesterday and quite enjoyed them. Hamstrings are feeling it today.
  24. They probably can, you're right there. The bars are very sturdy and well built. Impressive, Bob.
  25. A bar of the same length and material that is twice as thick should be able to withstand 8 times the load. The strength (and deflection) changes with a r^4 rate. So if the 1inch bar does about 150kg as Flink says, the Olympic bar should take 1200kg to get to know the same amount of bending. I'm probably being a bit thick here, but how come it is able to withstand 8 times the load? I think most Olympic bars are rated at 320-360kg. (although you might be able to get away with loading more onto it, but not for long)
