That's great. Well done on meeting him. Did you two have time for a chat, or was there only time for the photo?

I think it was important that the people saw both Brown leaving and Cameron entering Number 10. It's a landmark event, and I'm pretty sure he's the youngest Prime Minister we've had? 6 years younger than Blair was when he got in (I think I have got that right). It's history. In a few years time, we will probably be looking back on this moment...not sure if that'll be in a good or a bad light, though. It's a bit more than "just news."

Zamora's carrying an injury and isn't certain to play in the Europa Final. I would still have had him in the squad, though. Just in case.
-
I wouldn't bet on SWP being left. Something tells me that Capello rates him. I find him hit or miss. Pretty chuffed for Parker and Milner to be in that squad. That's awesome. Seeing Huddlestone in there is positive. It shows that if any player works hard enough, then they can be selected for the squad. Although, by that same token, has Carragher really been that great this season? Maybe the latter half. But, if we're going by that, then why isn't Gary Neville in the squad? He's been class for us in the second half of the season. Probably the best form he's been in for years. A bit surprised that there wasn't a place for Ashley Young. Also, Benzema hasn't been selected for France! Pato, Ronaldinho and Adriano will also not be going to the World Cup, as Dunga didn't select them.

Scoring so many goals is great. But, at the same time, you have to remember that they won the league by one single point. The goal difference is superior, no doubt about that. But, it was only one point. In addition to that, Chelsea and United both won 27 games. Chelsea lost 6 and United lost 7. Probably the closest season in a while. I'm pretty chuffed that we had the best defence in the league (in terms of conceding the least goals), considering that we had 9 of our defenders out. For that reason alone, Evra should be recognised as one of our best players this season, along with Fletcher. They kept the team steady and helped us to continue challenging. The 3-0 loss against Fulham still hurts, and it shows just how fragile we were at that point. Realistically, we could have been out of all competitions by January.

Hahahahaha. That is brilliant, along with that image. Homo-erotic to the max.

I laughed so hard after that one. Goal celebrations are great. I think it's stupid that nowadays you get yellow carded for taking your shirt off or celebrating in the crowd. I remember one incident where Tim Cahill had already been yellow carded, celebrated a winning goal and ended up getting sent off because he had removed his shirt. That was in a previous season. Do people honestly get offended by that or something, if a sportsman or woman removes their shirt?
-
It's brilliant. Stuff like that is why I love the FA Cup. That's another interesting topic. What is your favourite goal celebration? By far and away the best goal celebration I have ever seen. It reminds me of a kid who scores a goal on the playground. The way he clenches his fists, runs towards the sidelines, shaking his head and shouting GOAL! GOAL! Over and over again, with tears in his eyes. The only celebration I think comes close to that is this: You can tell a mile away just how passionate they are about the game.

Is it this? Hereford United vs Newcastle United. FA Cup in 1972. Non-League Hereford beat Newcastle, who were in the top flight at the time. 2-1, with the winner coming in extra time, I think.

Hmm, any idea how recent it was, Dwarf? Was it quite a few years back or recently? I can't think for the life of me.

But then, they don't shove their name entirely everywhere. Otherwise we'd have SEGA'S MADWORLD. -
So, I was in a thread on the Wii Board where it was mentioned just how bad the name for SonicandSegaAllStarsRacingWithBanjoKazooie is. A quick google search brought me to this page here It's quite an old article, I think. But, I chuckled at some of the truely awful names. Princess Tomato in Salad Kingdom Silhouette Mirage: Reprogrammed Hope (hahahaha) STICKY BALLS 70's Robot Anime Geppy-X: The Super Boosted Armor If It Moves, Shoot It! I couldn't contain myself with some of these earlier. Laughed too bluddy hard and had tears in my eyes. Can you think of any more particularly awful ones? I want to play Sticky Balls!

True. Then why not just call it Sonic All Star Racing? Or rip off MK and call it Sonic Kart. Because then they'd moan about not having SEGA in the title. -
Ahh, that was a good game. I think the 1-1 was last season? Didn't Heskey or someone get a winner? Possibly in injury time? Edit: Just checked. It was in April 2008. So, season before.

Haha, I remember I abbreviated it like that in another thread. It's awful. You can't even abbreviate it as it's still too long! Why not just "Sega All Stars Racing"? It's still lame, but not as lame. -
Anelka is a bit under-rated in my opinion. He was top scorer last season and nobody really cared. His teamplay and buildup play is pretty good, and he seems to cope well playing out in wider areas. What would Drogba say if he was told to play wide left or right? You saw how he reacted today when Lampard took the first penalty. I made a joke about Wigan earlier which my brother laughed at quite a lot. If you take the football pitch and cut off your own box and then the opposition's box and solely played a passing game in midfield, then Wigan and Arsenal would be World Champions by now. I like Wigan. I wouldn't be shocked if they had drawn with Chelsea today. Equally, I am not shocked that they lost 8-nil. They are one of the most inconsistent teams the league has ever had. Only a few weeks back they were 2-0 down to Arsenal and came back to win the game. I want them to do well, but they need to tighten up defensively.
-
Who do you reckon has been the best Chelsea player this season for you, Dyson? I'm impressed with Ivanovic the more I see him. Malouda, too, but that pretty much goes without saying. Well done. It was very close in the end. One point, God. Made for an exciting finish. Think it says it all when the top three teams end up winning by 4 or more goals on the last day, and I doubt there would have been many complaints had United or Arsenal finished top either. Can't wait for next season. I wonder if it'll be as unpredictable as this one. I hope Pompey thrash you 7-nil in the FA Cup, though... Would be great for them if they won it. Plus, I don't think I could stomach Chelsea getting the double.

Where is No More Heroes 2 on that list?! -
Haha, I laughed hard at that picture. Well done, Chelsea. It's been an exciting season. *waits for the fans to crawl out of the woodwork* Also, I'm pretty sure Patrice Evra has played every single league game for us this season. The guy is a legend.

Overall, we've probably done better this season than many would have predicted. Before this season, I think many were predicting Liverpool to go on and win it after finishing second last year, or for Chelsea to steamroll other teams and win the title by a landslide. So, it's good that the team have kept on fighting to the end. A bit disappointed that Hargreaves isn't in the team or on the bench today. Would have been nice for him and the fans to come on. Cmaaaaaaan, Wigan. Although, I wouldn't want to be in their position today. If Chelsea know they need to win, then this could end up being a heavy scoreline.
-
Ooo, that's a good price. Nice one. I'm skint though...cmaaaan paydaaaay. I agree with the Star Wars example. The new ones suffer from crappy script-writing, though. Terrible directing. The good thing with technology is that now you can create bigger and more detailed worlds where you can get lost within. Looking at Xenoblades, that seems like a world I definitely want to get lost in! The lands look vast and each landscape looks authentic and special in its own right. I would prefer that the technology gets used on this, along with providing good AI in games, more fluid animations and overall just better mechanics. These are all the things that make games much more entertaining, in my opinion. One thing I think is often under-rated is storytelling in games. When I play a Zelda game, I look for those wow moments. Like in Ocarina of Time where you learn about the 3 Goddesses, same thing in Twilight Princess, and also where you learn about how the Mirror gets shattered. Now, with storytelling, you don't neccessarily need technology for that. It can be a great tool, but it's just down to one's own creativity. People are all good storytellers, it's in our nature to be this way.

Ahh, that's where he's gone! Hehe, you'll have to wait til tomorrow (technically today) I'm afraid. Although, I did watch Soccer Saturday, as I wanted to see if Hartlepool stayed up (after that 3 point deduction...was curious if that would send them down) and if Leeds had been promoted. I hate the end of season. Yeah, it's nice to see things wrapped up. But, I hate this idea of no football. Thank Fuck for the World Cup.

Haha, that would be a funny idea. I could set up a page where people can see before and after pictures of their controllers, and maybe videos whilst I clean them. I have eet allllll figured out! Oh yes, it definitely is progression. But, it really can be quite an obsession with a lot of people. Even with films, too. Sometimes the best looking films don't always turn out as the best ones. My point still stands though, where will it go or where will it end? If a generation lasts about 6 years, then in 20 years we could have moved on 3 generations by then...it's a scary but exciting yet perplexing thought. Yeah, or even a few quid cheaper than that. Yet, a lot of people tend to find great deals online for games. I paid around 24 quid for Silent Hill brand new, then 30 quid for Red Steel 2 with the Motion Plus. I'm happy paying those sorts of prices. I still don't own Mario Kart, mainly because it's about 35 quid + in most places.

There's always this talk of wanting better graphics and stuff. Yet, I thought Galaxy and Twilight Princess were gorgeous games. It's not as if each game looks like it should be a Game&Watch title! There's this obsession these days that we need bigger and better graphics. I just wonder where it's going to go. Photo-realism? Would you want to play a photo-realistic Mario? Hmm, you also have to remember that the PS2 had a good head start on it's rivals. Also, it had its fair share of shovelware, too. If you go back and look through the PS2's catalogue, there will be the standout games, but there will also be a high proportion of shovelware to go with it. There's a number of reasons why third parties aren't being "nicer" with the Wii. I've mentioned before that on Nintendo systems, the games which draw users in are always Nintendo's own games. There's a crowd that will just play MARIO ZELDA, literally. How many third party games sold particularly well on the Cube anyway? I'd like to look at some data for that. Quite a few games have done well, anyway. Monster Hunter is having a great spell, Silent Hill shows that there is an audience for this, etc. The trouble is that some of the stellar third party games tend to be...games that will struggle to sell by the bucketload on any system. Dead Space Extraction was a quality game that got overlooked because it was an "on-rails shooter." I'm pretty sure No More Heroes was Suda's best selling game to date? Again, not a title for everyone. Neither was Killer7 on the Cube. The games can sell. But, they won't sell themselves. Although, I bet that if the retail price of Wii games was around 20 quid, we'd see a bigger number of owners buying games. Gamers seem put off paying full price for games, whereas perhaps they're more willing on other systems. Maybe that's why Wii games have "legs." Because they sell more in the longrun when the prices get dropped further and further. That's what I think, although you may disagree.
