Zelda is a class apart from other games on the shelves. Its covers should be the nice logo in big on a single shade, gold usually. Mostly always have been, definitely always should be. (IMO)
-
That goes without saying, but they still could have done a better job with it. Another example of dodgy lighting?
-
^ Agreed, the music and sound effects were incredible and instrumental in making OOT such a success. I loved the way the market noises and music creeped down in volume in the back streets and temple of time.

At the end of the day it's not a big deal, the game will be fantastic and the improvements will by far outweigh the shortcomings. Personally I'm just miffed they've ruined one of the most beautiful and serene settings from the original and slapped on gharish colours and horrendous lighting. And I suspect both will be a recurring theme throughout the game every so often, given 2 or 3 of the other screenshots. I wonder if that's Grezzo's influence because I can't see Nintendo making something so fugly to the eyes. Grazza you mentioned liking bright coloured Zeldas, I'm the same, but the colour pallettes of Wind Waker and Skyward Sword are a lot more pleasing to the eyes than what we've seen of the OOT 3D so far IMO. To be fair, the Some of the improvements look really gorgeous like the shop and the exterior shot of the Castle.
-
Clearly. Then why are the gossip stones lit as though it were bright and sunny overhead?
-
Yeah the dodgy, don't know whether it's night or day lighting, radioactive green water, horrible mud/grass contrast really makes the new version look gorgeous doesn't it. This has nothing to do with nostalgia, it's about recognising how fugly 2 or 3 new screenshots look.

Grow some thicker skin Scoop, seriously. It was a mild dig at your liking of flashy bold generic colour schemes and dislike of traditional, simple colour palletes. Relax. And btw, the new OOT artwork, whether a cover or not, is gorgeous, and I'd be happy to see a remake use it. Anyway looking at it again, the lighting in that new Temple of Time screenshot looks all wrong. You can't tell whether it's night or day. A bit like the dodgy lighting in this shot: Really excited for the remake, but IMO a couple of the screenshots seem to be distinct step backwards from the original. Hopefully it'll look as gorgeous as most of the shots in the actul game.

Ok the colours are vibrant in screenshots, but they won't be that different in the actual game. The water won't be green (?!), the stairs won't be metal, and I agree with R_L, they've taken the colours and contrast way too far. It looks like it was coloured with MS Paint. I'm sure Scoop will like it though.

Oh god, that screenshot looks AWFUL. WTF have they done, the revamp has looked great until that fuglyness. Surely I'm not the only one who thinks the above are lovely?
-
Market looks great. Hope they keep the same overhead shot for outside the temple of time. I wish current Zeldas would go back to putting the location text in a prominent place like they did with OOT/MM rather than the corner, but that's a big nitpick.

Stargate's been going downhill since season 7 of SG-1, it shouldn't be a surprise MGM are pulling the plug. If Wright and the others had done a better job over the years, who knows how long the franchise could have gone on for.
-
Wouldn't they have advertised all this new content by now though? Or maybe waiting for E3? Although doesn't it get released a week later?
-
I was concerned they actually called this film Scre4m, but it seems not thankfully.
-
Didn't Miyamoto say something about their being 'loads of new content'? Of course that could mean visuals-wise, and at this point you'd think they would have advertised any proper extra content by now, but who knows. The dream would be a brand new mini-dungeon sort of like the Colour dungeon in Link's awakening DX, standalone and not necessary to the main quest, but a nice bonus inclusion. Not getting my hopes up though.

Love the new screens, although I now wish the game was available on the Wii virtual console so we can play it on the big screen!
-
Thankfully the mood and lighting in the Temple of Time master sword room seems unchanged. Looks great actually

Fair enough thanks, I'll sort out a replacement somehow! Quick question for those in the know... does the iTunes backup preserve apps and in particular, app data/game saves etc? ie. assuming I backup and sync everything before returning my iPad, will the new one be identical to the first, in terms of camera roll photos, game saves, app data (like written text documents etc)
-
Exactly. A big prominent Zelda logo sells copies. Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks are the exceptions because those games are targetted far more to the casual gamer, so the colourful artwork works.
-
That's a matter of (poor) taste. The '10/10' was a disgrace though.
-
Hence the word usually in my above post.
-
It's very simple, they're trying to be traditional, and do what Zelda titles have usually done in the past, and presented the game with a simple shaded background. Usually gold. It sets Zelda games apart from other games, and looks pretty classy IMO, unlike a lot of other over-produced, OTT fanwanky box art.

Am I missing something on this and the Starfox site? Can you actually do anything in them as of yet? Gorgeous artwork though, really beautiful.
-
I bought it from Currys though, would the apple store really give me a new one? It's such a shame because I see no evidence of any light bleed. There may be, but I've not noticed it. And no dead pixels or anything so it's a shame this problem has just cropped up. The replacement may well be worse.
-
It's a fair bit thinner yes, and noticeably lighter, just about. The problem being with mine, is my home button has started to act up and will occasioanlly stop working, which is quite annoying.
-
I really like that they included the "Starfox. In. Nintendo 3DS" bit. Hopefully it'll be in the game as well
