Seems a waste to get rid of NSMBU for a few quid
-
I hope by no brainer you mean you've chosen the second choice
-
Surely lag would be a huge problem for online in a game like this??
-
You know what I mean though, far simpler level design than the Galaxy games. There's a clear start and end point to each level for a start. The objectives are different: reach the end of the level vs find a star. Not knocking it at all, but it's a totally different class to the other two types of Mario games.

They have three types of modern day Mario: 2D - The New Super Mario Bros series Simple 3D - 3D Land and now 3D World Full 3D - 64, Sunshine, Galaxy 1 and 2 We'll get a proper 3D adventure Mario next. Nintendo need a system seller, the Galaxy games are too hardcore for them at the present time. This series is a good medium between 'New' and 'Galaxy', and leaning far more towards the latter anyway.

Really happy to see those red/blue flip tiles return, love those levels

The Morning After - E3 Nintendo Direct Verdict
Ronnie replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Same here Flink, I was really happy with the Direct and couldn't quite believe the reaction I was seeing on here. I put it down to short-term disappointment that would soon disappear. Agree with you about how it could have been a bit longer with another game maybe thrown in. The actual format of the Direct seemed a bit low-key and it really made me miss a press conference. Highlights The Wind Waker HD - I was almost convinced from the January renders that they were going to ruin the cel shaded beauty of the game but pleasantly surprised that they haven't at all. A bit too much bloom in places but it looks really lovely. The message in a bottle function is inspired. Mario Kart 8 - Wow, recent Mario Karts have left me feeling a bit meh but this looks incredible Super Mario 3D World - I would have rather a grander Galaxy-like adventure game but this looks loads of fun. Miiverse - Loved the inclusion of proper drawing tools in Miiverse, should make for some beautiful bits of art, although the charm of black/white drawings may have been what made the artwork so great and unique in the first place, we'll see. All in all a great E3, Mario Kart out by xmas would have made it near perfect. -
I've just realised they've addressed a common complaint about the game... Watch from 22 minutes 12 seconds, every time you played that song in the gamecube version a small cutscene would repeat the tune before you got pick the direction, slowing things down. Looks like you play the tune, and it goes straight to the compass directions now. Of course it could have been creative editing on Nintendo's part for this video but hopefully not.

Fantastic news that the Oddworld remake is being released in the eShop, I was convinced it would be a Playstation exclusive

To make it look like it wasn't regular Mario crawling around at first glance?

Official E3 Nintendo Direct Discussion - 11th June @ 3pm
Ronnie replied to Mokong's topic in Nintendo Gaming
You mean like Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Super Luigi U, Wind Waker, Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong, Sonic Lost World.... + all the eshop and 3DS games That's surely enough for the next 6 months. Next year isn't looking too shabby already either. -
I really hope there's an option to hide the very cluttered HUD like in Skyward Sword, or at least put it on the Gamepad. Not holding my breath though
-
Yeah fair point, it's another example of them not trying to compete with the other two I suppose. Hopefully there'll be a big marketing push for Mario and the potential price drop. On another note, it's quite staggering how beautiful this game looks, they really went all out with the visuals, it's actually quite surreal to see from Nintendo and the Wii U.

Official E3 Nintendo Direct Discussion - 11th June @ 3pm
Ronnie replied to Mokong's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Personally I thought it was a really great E3 from Nintendo, the best one for years. Once the disappointment about Retro's game and 3D World subsides, I think people are going to look back at Nintendo's showing and appreciate it a lot more. I can't understand people who are complaining that Nintendo didn't 'bring the games'. -
I wonder if the content will double after you finish world 8 like in 3D Land Don't forget Aneres11 never having played The Wind Waker !
-
Could it be that they're releasing it in 2014 because they want to wait until after the hype from the PS4/XBO releases dies down? Christmas is going to be dominated by those two consoles after all.
-
Maybe they're tweaking it so that you collect the triforce maps throughout the game rather than having to get them all at the same time later on? Did seem strange how they were building up to revealing how they'd changed the gamplay, then didn't actually say anything. You lucky f****r.
-
Thanks guys, I actually haven't played any Donkey Kong games, shocking I know, was tempted to pick up DKCR for the 3DS though, though I might wait and play this game instead, then Returns

Sorry, who is David Wise and why are we all excited?? Should I hang my head in shame for not knowing?

Nintendo are definitely incorporating more old school Mario artwork into their games, looks great. Wow. Drooooollllllll. Nintendo artwork has been stunning recently.
-
I think they could have resisted telling us another 3D Mario was on the way in the January Nintendo Direct. The hype level was going to be tough to deliver on when we were all expecting something better than Galaxy. Well said, it certainly seems to be a midway point between the 'New' series and the Galaxy one. I'm confident the next step will be Galaxy 3/Universe, until then, this looks fantastic
-
Lovely poster artwork! I sort of agree, I'm a bit on the fence about the new lighting. It's not as bad as bad as the renders a few months back had us believe though. Plus it does add some nice depth, the original could seem quite flat in comparison.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Ronnie replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Wow that is gorgeous. Really really hope the logo in the trailer isn't the final version. -
If they were going to add extra dungeons they'd have said so by now surely. Given how half arsed so many of their other games are, I can't see it happen. The only complaint I have about this is the HUD, so cluttered and messy, does there need to be so much on the screen at once?
