Triforce Cup = Hyrule Circuit (Yoshi) Egg Cup = Yoshi Circuit Crossing Cup = Animal Crossing Bell Cup = A track based on Mario 3D World?
-
Probably an underground subway track where you have to dodge trains. The other is probably Wiggler Woods or some such

A thought occurred to me about the Splatoon amiibo. Most of the Mario/Smash ones can be used in multiple games, Link, Mario, Kirby, Dedede, Marth etc. They're good value for money in terms of their usage across lots of titles. The Splatoon amiibo on the other hand are probably only likely to be good for this one game, so it makes sense that the in-game bonus they unlock is more substantial than the rest. The niche titles will likely have better content than the more generic ones.

This game just keeps getting better and better

You hate amiibo. We get it. You've told us a million times. A lot of us love them and they're selling loads. Accept that and move on ffs.

I think blind packs only make sense for Animal Crossing, given the number of villagers. Everything else you'll surely be able to buy specific ones?!
-
They've already said they're going to release cheaper amiibo cards of all the series, which makes sense for people who don't want to collect figurines. The Marth amiibo figure might be limited but the cards should be in plentiful supply, for instance.

I only played Turf Wars and I'm almost certain it wouldn't offer much in that mode. The newly announced splat zones is a different story though.

Anywho... I noticed that Wii didn't put this article up that came out shortly before "Venture Beats'" one did. http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/apr/06/nintendo-wii-u-16-games

But do you not see how the negative chat has taken over every thread? People complaining about this or that.
-
I had a PM the other day from a well known poster who barely posts anymore, if at all. Big Ninty fan, claiming the anti-Nintendo chat is just too off-putting. Makes me wonder how many other fans have been forced out.

Do you really think in ten years time people will be talking about Gears of War as a classic in the same way they'll talk about Mario 64, OOT, Mario Galaxy etc? To me it seems like a huge shooter at the time but like a lot of shooters they're just mindless popcorn games soon to be forgotten. Apart from the genre defining ones like Half Life and Doom. A moment of weakness. I apologise for stooping to his level.

Let's get some Bloodborne or Sunset Overdrive graphics on the forum header then if it's only 1/6th a Nintendo message board. And while we're at it maybe the main site could write about the latest PS4 shooter instead of exclusively Nintendo news. Just seems odd that the loudest voices on a Nintendo message board are PS4 fanboys and guys who fell out of love with them years ago. It was genuinely refreshing to see so many actual Nintendo fans post after the Direct, this place felt completely different.

Nintendo and Online Gaming. What's The Deal?
Ronnie replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
That happens in every other post, in every thread, it's par for the course on this Nintendo message board. -
Why do you bother hanging out on a Nintendo forum if you're so bored and love the IndieStation4 so much? Same question to a few other people. It just makes no sense. How did Minecraft revolutionise the video game industry? What impact did it have? AAA gaming is still the same exact thing we've been getting for years. Gritty shooters and gory third person action games. Personally I'd say the generation defining game of last gen were things like Mario Galaxy or The Last of Us (apparently).

Well said that man. Sheikah needs to "win" an argument, he won't let up until he believes he has. -
Nothing this generation has been revolutionary, including games on PS4/XBO, unless you count more polygons and bigger instances. The strength of the "Playstation" brand.
-
Every time IGN talk about the PS4 it always seems like they're still waiting for one excellent game to come around. I suppose Bloodborne is that game now, if you like that sort of thing. Only took a year and a half.

Nintendo and Online Gaming. What's The Deal?
Ronnie replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
There's content on six games that are locked. You then need to purchase something to unlock bonus features in all six games, and you get a nifty little figurine out of it as well. You can also take said figurine to your mate's house and unlock stuff on all of his games as well. Yes it's day 1 unlockable content, but so what? It's great value for money and hardly necessary. If it helps create a stronger Nintendo then I'm all for it. -
Nintendo and Online Gaming. What's The Deal?

I could see it from the other side if the unloackable content was in any way interesting, but it's not. They're small little bonuses that barely amount to anything. They're good value for money (being transferable and applicable to multiple games). Nintendo's financials are struggling, an additional revenue stream for them is a good thing. I don't think it's worth getting angry or annoyed about. -
Nintendo and Online Gaming. What's The Deal?
Ronnie replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I personally don't consider it DLC. I buy amiibo for the figurines. The fact that they unlock small bonus features in multiple games is just that, a bonus. No one would consider having a second Yoshi ball in Woolley World to be £11 DLC. -

I'm sure you can survive without racing costumes for your Miis in Mario Kart, or a second Yoshi ball to use in Woolley World. Or the Hide and seek mini game in Captain Toad. Even the Splatoon integration is barely enough to be called DLC. Plus as Zech says, one amiibo works in multiple games, which is a great little perk they didn't have to include. -

Day 1 paid DLC where you get to keep a really nice figurine. That's where the majority of the £11 comes in. -
Exactly, six months before E3, very different to just two. And that was only to appease fans who were about to have barely any game to play till Pikmin that summer. Whereas this Direct they had Splatoon, Yoshi, MK8 DLC and Mario Maker to talk about.
