  1. This deserves your favourite snarky gif But yeah, "catching up" to the competition has clearly been Nintendo's top priority these last couple of gens. BIGGER CROWDS! DEEPER SHADES OF BLACK! BROKEN GAMES!
  2. That's another great point against the whole "other publishers manage simultaneous releases, why can't Nintendo" argument. Other publishers more often than not release games broken to be patched later!
  3. "Bigger crowds" as a selling point for next gen is so sad. Great video, hard to disagree with much he says there.
  4. Your post is what's neither here nor there. You compared Nintendo's case here to every other publisher managing a simultaneous launch. I replied that in those cases, those publisher's games were more often than not simply delayed to allow that to happen. Clearly it's not as simple as that in Zelda's case when they've a hardware release deadline to meet.
  5. Every other publisher usually doesn't have to get a game out by a certain date to make a hardware release. When there's an arbitrary release date and said publisher is struggling, they just delay the game. That's why pretty much every single big AAA game these days gets delayed at least once. Zelda is different in this case because they can't delay the Switch release just because Europe localisation are struggling.
  6. Say a trailer pops up for new Mario game, what happens at the end when the logo pops up on screen? Won't that be in japanese? Bit of a hype killer tbh
  7. I adored the first game, and was really looking forward to this, but I ended up putting it down after a few hours. I'm just not having fun at all. The stealth is a huge step backwards. The AI is ridiculously punishing to the point where I just end up going in all guns blazing which goes against the whole storyline or protagonist's style. No dynamic weather is a bummer, no gang hideouts is criminal, no slow motion Focus makes the gun play a lot less fun. Using environmental hacking to take down enemies used to be great but doing so here puts the entire building on red alert. I can go on and on. So gutted because I loved the original.
  8. Where do you get that impression? The whole point is they're NOT just sitting on it, at least NOE aren't.
  9. I still think it's sheer stupidity to release your two biggest hitters on the same day.
  10. Nothing to do with Wii U owners, and we're talking about localisation for Europe only. It's still ready for launch in Japan and NA. Hopefully they give NOE whatever resources they need to get the game ready for March. That said if it's Mario at launch and Zelda in May I won't be too disappointed.
  11. The buzz around Switch is 10x that of Wii U at launch.
  12. All pink, purple, black coins collected, all secret levels 100%'d (the last one was tougher than Champions Road in SM3DW), kingdom fully expanded and Peach's cake unlocked. I've officially had my fun with this game, though I'll keep playing Toad Rally. As for how successful it's been, Pokémon Go was basically the biggest gaming phenomenon there's ever been, so a little unfair to compare it to that.
  13. Do you know how many Wii U's were sold in the first month? I seem to recall it doing well in the first few weeks.
  14. 2 million units ready for launch seems an incredibly low number surely?
  15. Did Shop-To ask for a deposit when you pre-ordered? If it's easy to Switch pre-orders to somewhere else I may do that as well.
  16. I just worry this thing will be hard to get at launch and want to guarantee one on release day.
  17. I was going to put a deposit down in store this week but you'd recommend waiting until after next week's presentation before pre-ordering? Seems strange they're taking pre-orders when we don't even know what options are available. What if there is a basic and premium available, which would you get if you'd already put money down?
  18. I'd be amazed if they ditched Miiverse, such a clever idea especially when integrated into games. If the Share button is for screenshots and videos I can't believe they wouldn't give us the opportunity to post those somewhere for other users to see. Maybe they just want to get away from the Wii/Mii brand and have just come up with another type of social network with a different name. If you think about it the Switch seems to be a huge departure from the Wii era, would they really want something called "Miiverse" on there and mix messages?
  19. Of the first and second party Wii U games I can think of: Smash, MK8, 3D World, Mario Maker, Splatoon, Pokken, Paper Mario, Nintendo Land, Star Fox Zero, NSMBU, Bayonetta 2, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Pikmin 3, Yoshi's Woolly World, Animal Crossing AF, DKC Tropical Freeze, Captain Toad, Zelda, Hyrule Warriors, Wii Sports Club, Xenoblade, Wonderful 101, Kirby, Mario Tennis, Game and Wario... Excluding Mario Maker, four are 2D platformers; in the space of four years. I don't think 4 in 26 in the genre Nintendo are best known for and are best at, is that much, especially given the genre diversity of the other 22 games.
  20. All of the above? It's a genre Nintendo have perfected, and I never suggested Western devs on PS4 and XBO should stop making first person shooters just because it's an oversaturated market. They're obviously popular, just as 2D platformers are popular with Nintendo.

    Rime

IGN put up an exclusive re-reveal trailer just a few minutes ago. Confirmed for Switch, PS4, XBO and Steam
  22. They tried a non generic shooter, Splatoon, and it was a huge success. So clearly they are open to doing something like that. From what I hear they're both fantastic games, but the industry is full of shooters. Why should Nintendo abandon it's traditional style and add to an already over-saturated genre? Splatoon sold over 4 million units and won 'Best Shooter' at the Game Awards that year. Their current hardware approach isn't working but software wise, they're among the best selling of any developer.
