  1. This generation's AAA scene has been a bit disappointing I feel, nothing really new or particularly memorable in the same way that last gen knocked it out of the park. I can't wait for Nintendo to get back into the game and am literally counting down the days till Switch releases, it looks and will likely be, brilliant.
  2. The buzz around the Switch is 10x what the Wii U had. I remember feeling distinctly underwhelmed by that system, in terms of the games, messaging and the console itself. I don't recall anyone exclaiming "Day 1!" when the Wii U was first announced.
  3. Looking forward to seeing the UI, achievement system and any other nifty features it'll have (Streetpass, Miiverse etc) Believe me, I'm trying to forget it.
  4. Nope, the yarn store was better thanks to a bit of personality and charm. The PS4 Pro thing was a disaster.
  5. Looks amazing. I wonder if Nintendo will partner with the 2020 Olympic Games, could be a huge opportunity for them.
  6. I figured the online components needing data went without saying. Obviously Toad Rally would eat a bit of data but in 2016, minuscule amounts, the same with the majority of other games. Single player wise though it wouldn't need to download anything as you play, so the only issue with needing to be online is the whole underground/plane thing like you say, which is a big shame.
  7. In this day and age, the data it'll use will be negligible. Presumably, it won't have to download anything, everything is on the app.
  8. Is there a huge jump between Wii U and Switch though? The Switch is basically a handheld after all. It may be built for Wii U hardware but it doesn't seem to run well at all there.
  9. An E3 reveal where they're competing with the other two console makers for mindshare, and all the other games announced? In my opinion, far better to have their own day and get everybody talking about it and nothing else (and a few people talking about Red Dead). I think it was a very smart thing to do. Non core gaming consumers could easily have forgotten about it after a nine month wait, the shorter reveal > release means the buzz is amplified.
  10. I can't get over how good that ad is. That and the Switch one are hugely encouraging for Nintendo's future. There's as much polish in the ads as in their games. Big fan of the rebrand too, with big N logo on the red background
  11. I can't imagine it's 60fps, that seems very unlikely. There aren't many openworld games on PS4 that are 60fps, let alone lesser hardware
  12. Pretty crazy that we'll all be playing Switch in just three months time. Given the hugely positive reception it's gotten and all the buzz since it looks like Nintendo were smart to go with a short reveal to release window.
  13. Definitely seems to be running much better than we've seen on Wii U, thankfully, at least in the small segment we see here. The framerate from the Game Awards footage had me very worried.
  14. 5-8 hours battery would be insane, and sounds a bit unlikely, I was genuinely hoping for 4. I guess it'll depend if you're playing a game like Zelda or Box Boy re: the Pro controller, Gamexplain did an interview with one of the actors from the tv ad, he's a big gamer and said that the Pro controller was easily the most comfortable he's ever played on, of any console.
  15. This game is looking really great. Plenty for casuals and pro players to get into. Also that ad!! Fantastic
  16. That's a brilliant segment, very smart to bring both products to show off. Zelda looked to be running pretty well.
  17. Droughts - From reports, the Switch will have an insane first year, for starters Messaging - The Switch reveal trailer was the polar opposite of the Wii U one, it perfectly conveyed the console and was a huge success 3D Mario - Fans want an exploration based 3D Mario game, that's what the Switch game supposedly is Unified account system - That's basically already happened and will probably be expanded further with Switch Proprietary formats - It'll charge with USB-C, a soon to be standard connection Price - They've puclicly said they're listening to what consumers expect the Switch to cost and will price it accordingly There are plenty more examples but that's just off the top of my head. A news report stating that Gamecube games are coming to Virtual Console should be met with delight, but instead it's either "pffft it should have happened years ago" or "Urgh, they're going to charge us for their development time". It's very, very easy to constantly whinge, complain and focus on the negatives about everything Nintendo do, but there are plenty of positives to be found if you care to look.
  18. Or in reality, they've learned lots of things, and have listened to their fans about a great many things, just not in this case.
  19. Having to pay to buy 30 year old NES games you've already bought on other consoles is a "major reason not to buy a Switch", wow. I admit it's piss poor but come on. I suppose at this point people are grasping at straws for negatives with this thing.
  20. I'm struggling to keep up, what are we complaining about now? What have Nintendo done wrong now? I'd suggest waiting till their briefing when they'll hopefully announce VC plans. I'm not sure what meaty features you can add to NES games. Maybe achievements ?
  21. Brilliant news that we're getting Gamecube games on Virtual Console!! The Switch is sounding more amazing with each passing week.
  22. A bully to the little guy? Hardly. You honestly don't think they've tried? It's easier said than done. Not welcoming publications who report confidential info with open arms is a start to clamping down on things like this, if it puts others off doing similar. Obviously it's not a perfect solution but it's something.
  23. Nintendo are childish for not welcoming outlets who leak confidential info with open arms, eh?? No, but it discourages others from doing the same. It's not laughable, it makes sense and every single other company out there would do similar.
  24. I really love the 8 bit Link, but didn't go for the OOT Link as I wasn't so keen on the pose
