I made a swf at 60frames per second and it totally did not enhance the effect. I don't know how to upload it though. Animated gifs don't go so fast. But anyways, the effect isn't 3D.

Quote: How would they make it so the picture doesn't have to shake all the time? That's why it looks 3D. -> Perhaps make it shake far quicker, so you wouldn't notice it anymore. The thing is, if this would be true, the developers who got their hands on the controller at TGS would have to know then as they'd have seen it? Or perhaps nintendo didn't implement it yet as they were just tech demo's to primarily show off the controller and not so much the graphics, revolutionary or not. I must admit it fits perfectly in the big new-controller-different-viewing-way picture and it would be an absolute joy to play such innovative technology, but you got to admit, it does sound a bit toooooo good to be true doesn't it The problem with us fans is that when we get excited we can link almost every bit of news together making some kind of sense just to fullfill our fantasy/dream about what we'd like it to be like. Remember all the mysterious patents and quotes that almost 100% made sense when we saw the On video? :p By the way, the gundam video doesn't look 3D at all to me, the robot's are just portrayed in a more in-your-face manner to give them a more majestic, grandiose feel. Same with the in your face gun from Devil may cry. That's just playstation's "cool" thing in effect there. PS: how the hell do you become "settled in" on these forums? I've been with cube-europe since the cube launched way back, and I post occasionally, but yet i'm still considered a newbie by forum default

Some bold statements you got there Shorty 1. The main advantage OSX has is that it's based on Unix and not the age old NT technology windows uses. OSX is constantly aware of what it's doing, whereas windows acts like a helpless kid who doesn't really now what's hitting him. So when problems occur, OSX immediately knows what's hit it, whereas windows freezes and tells you it encountered an unknown error :s 2. The mac hardware and OS are made internally by one company. When making the hardware, the guys say: "Oh shit, we can't do that cause the OS doesn't do this" and when making the OS or the software, it's just the other way around: "We can't do this cause the hardware would do better if we do it like this ..." My point is they listen to one and other to fully squeeze each capability out of each of the components compatability. With windows, it's like this: MS makes windows and HOPES the hardware manufacturors will make hardware that is compatible, but then the hardware guys make hardware and hope windows will be compatible. So you've got oooodles of choice in hardware in a windows based pc, but you never really now if it will be fully compatible to deliver an optimal performance. It's a bit like Nintendo: They work closely together with both hardware and software and come up with a cohesive product, so they deliver few crappy games. And then you got sony with their thousands of games...

Stars Catalouge, anyone's arrived?
nicolasmasset replied to Sarka's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Well, I ordered nintendogs a while back and it only took them 2 days to put it in my mailbox, so I guess there isn't a standard delivery time. -
Killer7...What the Hell???
nicolasmasset replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I bought it at launch, played it a week, and put in on the shelf since then, it's just too repetitive for me. And always the pauzes inbetween when the red fairy guy or the white haired queer need to brabble again. I hate the pauzes, it sucks you right out of the game every time. -

Kopo, Chill out dude! Good points though, but it sadly isn't that perfect world you're talking about. I guess this is an endless discussion, though I think I've made my point pretty clear. I have one question for Peachie though, what exactly is a "mature" racist way? Cause you've really got me guessing there :s -

Tricky subject, but I do want to stress the fact that anyone who was even just a teenie weenie bit rebellious in their youth would remember that kids don't always ask permission and do alot of things behind parent's backs. So sorry to say, but quotes like: "it's the parents that should decide whether or not the kids play" are NOT realistic and just plain naive. I sure as hell didn't ask my mom if I could flick through a playboy magazine when I was 16, come on people! :s I'm absolutely not against the majority of violent games as I think it offers the player a virtual substitution to let their natural aggression loose indoors in front of a TV instead of in real world, but I do think there are limits, and some games just go too far (eg Postal 2!). They should really ban that game, it's only purpose is hurting people and making racist remarks after doing so. I just don't think that's the kind of rolemodel game creators should send out to the kids. :s I can already imagine a bullied kid somewhere in the world finding comfort in finally being the boss over his bullies and beating the crap out of them in a game like that. I just don't think it's necessary to be able chase a scared shitless girl around with a shovel and chop her freaking head off for the fun of it. A helpfull hand imo would be for the retailers to genuinely ask a kids ID before selling him the game, cause all they think about is the money they recieve in return. And secondly, to the game creators: if you want to chop heads off, stick with monsters as villains, as in Resi4, that's kinda justified, as they're from a fantasy world and thus easily distinguishable from your next door neighbour, but please: go easy on the frekkin' real life shit! -
Pretty messed up, M$

True, but the fact remains that the kids get their hands on the games anyways. How were we at young age? Just the same. I don't have much against most of the violent games, but there are a few, eg "Postal 2" that are just plain SICK and should be completely banished from the planet. They're just plain madman violence chopping people's heads off with a shovel AND making racist american comments after doing so. It's just plain disgusting. The game just leaves a strange, sticky sensation of violent uneasiness to me. I can easily imagine 12year old kids getting brainwashed by that game. -
Haha Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! ...

Hi admins, I have my answer from the tech board, you may delete this thread, or tell me how to do it myself if that's possible.

Wow, thanx for the advice, I didn't know it was the game that had to send out progressive scan :s So I guess I'll stick with the samsung tft 19inch and get a vga box, seems the best solution for now. Cheers!

Hi, I was thinking of buying a samsung tft monitor for my pc, but then I thought, hell, why not shell out for an lcd while I'm at it so I can connect other stuff to it aswell! Such as the gamecube of course. Has anyone imported such cable and tested it on a digital tv? Plasma? Lcd? Is it worthy of the purchase? How does it compare when it's connected with an rgb cable? The thought of finally getting those annoying jaggies completely out of the way with resi4 is enticing! Cheers! PS: Sorry admins, I know this thread already exists in the gamecube section, but nobody seems to reply on it, that's why I thought giving the tech talk a shot!

Presenting...the Nintendo Revolution...
nicolasmasset replied to CommanderSP's topic in Nintendo Gaming
CommanderSP, Why don't you start your own company and blow us all away with your flawless marketing tactics that way surpass those old geezers at Nintendo with 20years of experience But seriously now, I understand what you're saying, but it is quite pointless, just as Hellfire pointed out. I'm sure Nintendo had it's reasons that we don't know about. Just let it fly, it's over now, and it's a bright future innit! -
Look at this guys, seems Nintendo wasn't kidding when they said it had been done before http://www.gyration.com/mcr.htm

Thanx YenRug! Keep checking those boards and keep us posted! If it's the giration option, that truuuuuly would be awesome, limitless freedom!

Oh I'm not saying it won't work well, I've been with Nintendo since I was 5, and I'm 24 now, so I know which company ALWAYS delivers. All I'm saying is I really hope you can race your car by holding it sideways and you can really swing your sword that broad.
-
Revolution Controller I really love the controller so far, but that infrared thing is the only thing that's bugging me. On the video you see practically everybody swinging those controllers waaaay out of the range of the sensors you have to place on your tv, so my question is: Is that all for show? Don't the sensors just read the last bit of your baseball swing when the infrared thing passes the range of the sensors? So couldn't you just twist your wrist and thus stay in the sensor field to get the same effect as the broad zelda slash that dude gives at the end of the movie? I sure hope the infrared is just to turn the rev on/off and that they've managed to make it positioning-aware with some other waveform of sort. Then you could use the controller horizontally with the dpad an lower a&b buttons for racing games and tilt the controller left and right without having to put the sensors on your left beside the couch (got it?) I'll post this question on gamespot's Burning Questions section and let y'all know when I get an answer from people who've actually had some playtime with the things. Does somebody have an ign insider account? Maybe they can post it there too as Matt Cassamaminananoe seems to post on his own forums regularly. Cheerio!
