Big Yellow Taxi They paved paradise And put up a parking lot With a pink hotel, a boutique And a swinging hot spot Don't it always seem to go That you dont know what you've got Till its gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot They took all the trees Put 'em in a tree museum And they charged the people A dollar and a half just to see em Don't it always seem to go That you dont know what you've got Till its gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot Hey farmer farmer Put away that d.d.t. now Give me spots on my apples But leave me the birds and the bees Please! Don't it always seem to go That you dont know what you've got Till its gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot Late last night I heard the screen door slam And a big yellow taxi Took away my old man Don't it always seem to go That you dont know what you've got Till its gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot Joni Mitchell
  4. Yeah I tried re-installing it but to no avail. People always had a go at sonicstage but I always quite liked it. It could be a bit slow but I prefer the way it sets out the music compared to itunes. Anyway, I'm probably gona just get a new mp3 (probs an ipod w/ video) since my player was quite old anyway. Thanks for your suggestions though, it'd have been good if i could have got it working.
  5. Lol, I still can
  6. So it's another thread from me - I can't seem to work my computer at all at the minute I've got sonicstage V. 4.3. My computer froze a while ago and so I had to switch it straight off. I let it do the disc-checking stuff but when i came back on it wouldn't let me start up my sonicstage - It keeps saying "sonicstage application has stopped working" and gives me the options of "check online for a solution" or "close the program". I've tried selecting "check online for a solution" but nothing happens, the program just shuts itself off again. I've also tried looking on the Sony website (which gives no help) and I've tried restarting my computer. Can anyone offer any advice as to how to get it working again?
  7. why do people always go on about how people can't lick their elbows? so what, there's lots of places on my body i can't lick; what's so special about the elbow? anyway, another fact: if an octopus gets hungry it eats its own legs and they grow back
  8. I'm going to try again with the origins of a phrase: the term 'money for old rope' came about because, once someone had been hanged, the executioner (or whatever you call the guy who does it) would cut up the rope and sell it to people. So if a person was hated, people in the community would buy parts of the rope used to hang em and place it on their wall or something as a souveneir of sorts.
  9. I have cyberlink powerproducer v3 and when i try to make a dvd, it won't allow me to add my avi. files on it. At the moment I use VLC to play them (dunno if that matters) but when i try and import the files onto the dvd it just says "failed to add video file" Does anyone know why this is (I presume because Cyberlink Powerproducer V3 doesn't support the file format) and is there anything I can do short of getting a video converter and converting it to a different format? Help would be appreciated
  10. OK, i've got egg in my face after my last fact was proved wrong so here's another 2 to make up for it (of more reliable sources): kangaroos are born under an inch long after only 3 months. From there they then crawl into the pouch on the front of the mother. The earth's atmosphere is proportionatly thinner than the skin of an apple
  11. The f-word came about because above brothels (back in the day) it used to say F. U. C. K., which stood for Foricating Under Consent of the King.
  12. Highway 61 Revisited God said to abraham kill me a son Abe said "man you must be puttin' me on" God said "no", Abe said "what" God say "you can do what you wanna but The next time you see me comin' you better run!" Well Abe said "where d'ya want this killin' done?" God said "out on highway 61" Well Georgia Sam he had a bloody nose Welfare department wouldnt give him no clothes They asked poor howard where can I go Howard said "theres only one place I know" Sam said "tell me quick man I got to run" Oh howard just pointed with his gun And said "that way down highway 61" Well Mack The Finger said to Louie the King "I got 40 Red, White & Blue shoestrings And a thousand telephones that don't even ring. Do you know where I can get rid of these things?" And Louie the King said "let me think for a minute son" Then he said "yes, I think it can be easily done Just take everything down to highway 61" Now the 5th daughter on the 12th night Told the first father that things weren't right "my complexion", she says, "is much too white" He said "come here and step into the light" He said "hmm you're right let me tell the 2nd mother this has been done" But the 2nd mother was with the 7th son And they were both out on highway 61 Now the Roving Gambler he was very bored Trying to create a next world war He found a promoter who nearly fell off the floor He said "I never engaged in this kind of thing before, But yes, i think it can be very easily done We'll just put some bleachers out in the sun And have it on highway 61" Bob Dylan
  13. Until It's Time To Go You're not a dream, you're not an angel, you're a man; I'm not a queen, I'm a woman, take my hand; We'll make a space in the lives that we planned, And there we'll stay until it's time for you to go. Yes we're different, worlds apart,we're not the same, We laughed and played at the start, like in a game, You could have stayed outside my heart but in you came, And here you'll stay until it's time to go. Don't ask me me why Don't ask how Don't ask forever Love me now This love of mine had no beginning, it has no end; I was an oak, now I'm a willow; now I can bend; And though I'll never in my life see you again, still i'll stay until it's time for you to go. Don't ask why of me Don't ask how of me Don't ask forever of me Love me now You're not a dream, you're not an angel; you're a man; I'm not a queen, I'm a woman, take my hand; We'll make a space in the lives that we planned, And there we'll stay until it's time for you to go. 15. I'm Only Sleeping When I wake up early in the morning, lift my head, I'm still yawning When I'm in the middle of a dream, stay in bed, float upstream Please don't wake me, no don't shake me, leave me where I am I'm only sleeping Keeping an eye on the world going by my window, taking my time, Lying there staring at the ceiling, waiting for a sleeping feeling Everybody seem to think I'm lazy, I don't mind I think they're crazy Running everywhere at such a speed, till they find, there's no need Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away, and after all I'm only sleeping Keeping an eye on the world going by my window, taking my time, Lying there staring at the ceiling, waiting for a sleeping feeling The Beatles

  20. Writer in the Sun The days of wine and roses are distant days for me. I dream of the last and the next affair and of girls I'll never see. And here I sit, the retired writer in the sun, The retired writer in the sun and I'm blue, The retired writer in the sun. Tonight I trod in the starlight, I excused myself with a grin. I ponder the moon in a silver spoon and the little one 'live within. And here I sit, the retired writer in the sun, The retired writer in the sun. The magazine girl poses on my glossy paper aeroplane Too many years I spent in the City playing with Mr. Loss and Gain. And here I sit, the retired writer in the sun, The retired writer in the sun and I'm blue, The retired writer in the sun. I bathe in the sun of the morning, lemon circles swim in the tea Fishing for time with a wishing line and throwing it back in the sea. And here I sit, the retired writer in the sun, The retired writer in the sun and I'm blue, The retired writer in the sun Donovan

  23. I'm gonna post the last 3 songs from Demon Days as they all sort of follow onto each other: Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head Once upon a time at the foot of a great mountain, There was a town where the people known as Happyfolk lived. Their very existence a mystery to the rest of the world, Obscured as it was by grey clouds. Here they played out their peaceful lives, Innocent of the litany of excess and violence That was growing in the world below. To live in harmony with the spirit of the mountain called Monkey was enough. Then one day Strangefolk arrived in the town. They came in camouflage, hidden behind dark glasses, But no one noticed them: they only saw shadows. You see, without the Truth of the Eyes, the Happyfolk were blind. Falling out of aeroplanes and hiding out in holes, Waiting for the sunset to come, people goin' home. Jump out from behind them and shoot them in the head, Now everybody's dancing the dance of the dead, The dance of the dead, the dance of the dead. In time, Strangefolk found their way into the high reaches of the mountain, And it was there that they found the Caves of Unimaginable Sincerity and Giving. By chance, they stumbled upon the Place Where All Good Souls Come to Rest. The Strangefolk, they coveted the jewels in these caves above all things, And soon they began to mine the mountain, its rich seam fueling the chaos of their own world. Meanwhile, down in the town, the Happyfolk slept restlessly, Their dreams invaded by shadowy figures digging away at their souls. Every day, people would wake and stare at the mountain. Why was it bringing darkness into their lives? And as the Strangefolk mined deeper and deeper into the mountain, Holes began to appear, bringing with them a cold and bitter wind that chilled the very soul of them up. For the first time, the Happyfolk felt fearful for they knew that soon the Monkey would soon stir from its deep sleep. And then came a sound. Distant first, it grew into castrophany so immense it could be heard far away in space. There were no screams. There was no time. The mountain called Monkey had spoken. There was only fire. And then, nothing. O little town in U.S.A, your time has come to see There's nothing you believe you want But where were you when it all came down on me? Did you call me now? Don't Get Lost In Heaven Got off a plane to the countryside, I drove to the mountain and holding the ground There was crack on the corner and someone dead, and fire coming out of the monkey's head Don't get lost in heaven They got locks on the gate Don't go over the edge you'll make a big mistake Put me in a cab to suburbia I just took a line but I wasn't with you There was more of it there, when I got back home But you had left me,you don't know my soul... You're a whole bad mistake, yeah, you're a whole one... Don't get lost in heaven They got locks on the gate Don't go over the edge you'll make a big mistake Demon Days In demon days, it's cold inside You don't get nobody, people sigh It's so bad, lasting far, but love yourself Hiding in a hole in there All the glasses are too big Bring it back, got to hold it back To let you do that yet you don't want me back Before it fall down, falling down falling down Falling out to go far from the sun Well these demon days are so cold inside It's so hard to live, and so to survive You can't even trust the air you breathe Cause Mother Earth has a soul to leave When lies become reality You love yourself because it's easy Pick yourself up it's a brand new day So turn yourself round Don't burn yourself, turn yourself Turn yourself around to the sun To the sun, to the sun... To the sun, to the sun... Gorillaz
  24. Went out and got Mario Galaxy (for someone to give me at christmas) and whilst there I got pokemon diamond. I'd been a bit too embarrassed to get it before but I saw my chance, told the cashier it was a christmas present for someone else, and snuck it home to play for myself. 'Back of the net!'
  25. Fairytale Of New York It was Christmas eve babe In the drunk tank An old man said to me, "won't see another one" And then he sang a song, 'The rare old mountain dew' I turned my face away And dreamed about you Got on a lucky one Came in eighteen to one I've got a feeling This years for me and you So happy christmas I love you baby I can see a better time When all our dreams come true They've got cars big as bars They've got rivers of gold But the wind goes right through you It's no place for the old When you first took my hand On a cold Christmas eve You promised me Broadway was waiting for me You were handsome You were pretty Queen of New York City When the band finished playing They howled out for more. Sinatra was swinging, All the drunks they were singing We kissed on a corner Then danced through the night. The boys of the NYPD choir Were singing 'Galway Bay' And the bells were ringing out For Christmas Day You're a bum You're a punk You're an old slut on junk Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed You scumbag, you maggot You cheap lousy faggot Happy Christmas your arse I pray God its our last The boys of the NYPD choir Were singing 'Galway Bay' And the bells were ringing out For Christmas Day I could have been someone Well so could anyone You took my dreams from me When I first found you I kept them with me babe I put them with my own Can't make it all alone I've built my dreams around you The boys of the NYPD choir Were singing 'Galway Bay' And the bells were ringing out For Christmas Day The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl
