I think one thing I would do is address more clearly what kind of home she's escaping. You don't have to meet it head on but simply parents shouting at each other, even in a bitter divorce doesn't explain why she would be given to a foster family - dropping hints like finding broken furniture, windows, plates, food everywhere after each fight, burnt out cigarettes and alcohol containers left everywhere, things disappearing from the house, not being fed or washed or taken to school for days on end, and so on. I know it's a risk addressing it because the story is aimed at real foster children, but precisely because of that I don't think you can't address it. I can see what they mean by not having her fantasy work so much against her, because it makes more sense that these imaginary situations are an escape, not a challenge for her. You should keep them but the thing to do would be address that while they distract her they don't provide - e.g. I'd probably make her have a lot of fun taming lions and stuff with the circus, but then it packs up and leaves town - then her foster brother comes and offers her his Action Man or something, which she finds boring but she's still happy to be able to play with someone anyway. Or maybe she has a lot of fun mixing potions with the witches, but they can't help her when she skins her knee - but then her foster mum comes along and puts a plaster on it and helps calm her down. Perhaps this way she can realise naturally what her foster family can provide that her fantasies cannot. The sort of things I might do with the foster is to show how hard they're tying for her but she doesn't quite understand or trust them and they don't fully understand her, as hard as they try. eg. They give her a really nice room but she misses her old one so much she hates it. They cook her foods which she might find strange, try to buy her clothes and toys she isn't interested in or take her to nice places that her parents never took her so she finds them intimidating or weird. Anyway, sorry about the wall-o text, that's just a few ideas, so I hope that helps somehow. You're story's really got something in it, sounds like it'll be fantastic once it's had a little refinement. Keep it up!

A pleasant and unexpected victory I must say. I'm surprised I won this one looking at the stats, but then if the stats were worth anything I should've won my last match. I'm having some odd luck this season.

Gaw, I enjoyed bombing around in the Mako. I think a few more things to do in it would've improved it but generally I enjoyed kicking back in the drivers seat and clawing my up some lunar cliff face somewhere. Anyway:

Right, so I finally get my first payslip a while ago two weeks late and find I've been taxed about £50 I shouldn't have. I ask my manager, who tells me to phone the tax people. The tax people tell me to ask the Job Centre for a P45. The person at the Job Centre tells me to phone the national hotline. The hotline tells me to phone a regional call centre. The person at the call centre tells me I don't need a P45 and that I need to phone the tax people. The tax person tells me what I actually need is a P46 which I get from my manager. I'm starting to suspect they're doing this deliberately.

All the banks close and I can stop worrying for a couple of days about having things to send off or people to phone or forms that need urgently filled out or any of the other bollocks that continually needs doing just to keep everything square.

I think it should be noted that Islam is a religion of more then 800million people that stretches across every corner of the globe with large populations across Europe, Africa and Asia as well as the Middle East. You're going to have be a tad more specific about it's "home country's soil."

Rumor out of France is that Kobayashi could be in the running to join Kubica at Renault as Panasonic have expressed interest in attaching some significant sponsorship to him after Toyota's pullout. Just a rumor but an eminently plausible one.

Awk hon, I feel exactly the same. Except my man would ideally have a vagina of some description. Then again, I'm not picky. Anyway: Auuugh, I'd love a beer, but I know it'll just send me into some kind of crazy bluesy funk. Goddamn you Miles Davis.

Apparently the plan is to have Schumi keep things under warps until Vettel can be lassoed in from Red Bull. Eddie Jordan reckons it's gonna happen, so take that with whatever amount of salt you feel is necessary.

Oh jesus fuck, just take the benefits your entitled too will you? That's what they're there for. It's always pissed me off that people actively turn down the help that's built into the system for them out of some bizzaro sense of twisted social pride knitted out of snatched headlines from the Daily Mail. You're SUPPOSED to take money from the system - that's why we HAVE a system. I mean, you're a student but your not even exempting yourself from Council Tax? The eff?

Finally, after six bleeding weeks, I finally get my first pay slip - it's £70 short because they haven't taken the overtime I did into account. This make gaggle mad! Rarrrargh *explodes out of his shirt and starts smashing things wildly*

Kimi could've singed for McLaren weeks ago, but clearly he had developed a taste for rallying and being in F1 just wasn't going to let him pursue that. It would've been fantastic to have him alongside Lewis, but it seems like he'll be happier charging up and down the mud tracks of Europe where there's less media commitment to worry about. Good luck to him. Meanwhile Button and Lewis I think will make great bedfellows. It's always a stretch squeezing 2 world champs into the same garage but the dynamic is very different between Lewis & Button then it was between Lewis & Alonso. They clearly respect each other enormously, professionally and personally, and Button will know full well what he's up against - it won't be a surprise upset of the apple cart like it was with Alonso, and finally McLaren have a duo they know can win the WCC for them. Next year's gonna be great.

Rumour is Citroen are offering him 10mil Euros - twice as much Sebastian Loeb gets.

Rumour for Renault is Motagny - drove briefly for Super Aguri, tested for Toyota for a couple of years, finished 2nd in LeMans. And he's French.

After many months contemplating life, the universe and everything, I've reached the conclusion that I need to eat more cake. There's not nearly enough cake in my life. Surely not healthy.

The Guardian is reporting that Button has all-but signed a 3 year deal at Woking. Looks like the Iceman is out in the cold. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/nov/16/jenson-button-joins-mclaren-contract

Depends how you play and what you use it with. I use a SCAR in one of my slots, which has great range but a tiny magazine for going in close with automatic fire - SOH helps negate that one drawback massively to make it, in my opinion, one of the best all round weapons in the game.
