Im calling it - Nintendo Switch update with Netflix app on Tuesday.
-
Thats the challenge - Venusaur, Weezing and Nidoking are standout destroyers and would be interesting to try the Pokes I never touch (Muk, Arbok, Beedrill)
-
Anyone thinking of going mono-type to make the adventure a bit more distinct? Im thinking Mono-poison, starting with my boy Venusaur. Hopefully, the Pikachu and Eevee dont take up mandatory spots if not chosen to battle.
-
I was hoping for a gold for Eeveeor white for it's tail.

But if you consider this as a step in stone or break away series for the newcomers and Pokemon Go fans who arent specifically Nintendo fans - this is ingenious. Very strategic of them to confirm a core game next year too. As someone who bought shite games (but still loved them) like Pokemon Coliseum, XD and Battle Revolution, I'll be sucking this right up.... Hope they unveil a new Switch colour with it.

In that case, I'm happy. Thought it to be strange if it were true. Second half of work will be listening to everyone's reaction ::) This is the golden age of nintendo home console gaming...now, all I need to do is stay alive.

Agreed. The HD chibi-esque style is perfect and timeless.

Just to clarify, I'm not raging at GF for making this GO inspired...this is a genius move, especially announcing this in Pokemon GO. I'm just startled at the lack of online which has always been the biggest draw for me...ah well I guess the 2019 game will be that. What team are you guys on? Pikachu or Eevee?

Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield (2019, Switch)

As soon as I saw the trailer this morning about 10 mins ago, I moonwalked here with glee..... BUT no online features?! That is soul destroying. I could forgive the somewhat lazy playing it safe visuals and the Pokemon GO pandering makes great sense... But eliminating core elements in favour of GO type stuff was a nightmare. Its a shame because the battle animations look great and I know online battling would have been like crack cocaine. -

Nintendo Switch: One Year Later
Falcon_BlizZACK replied to Falcon_BlizZACK's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Good to see the perspective of someone who was deep in with the Wii U. Im hoping this is the year of the "true" Switch games, I have a feeling Pikmin 4 is coming. -
I think its fate that got me thinking of these forums around the anniversary of the Switch's release... How do you now feel about the console? How is it compared to Nintendo's last few console first year releases? Did you think this console would reach this level of success ((especially during "mid-gen")? Im very happy with the system and it has been a source of constant joy since its release. Today last year, I remember the joy of receiving my switch from the local depo (after a nerve wrecking missed delivery even though I was at home...*grumble*). The sheer joy of this curious yet cute system coupled with a new Zelda trumped any other console release for me. I couldn't believe how I was feeling as a 30 year old, having sold my Wii U half way through its life cycle and never wanting to complete Skyward Sword - I never imagined my love for gaming would be reignited quite like this....The next few days was gaming heaven, as I booked days off of work and camped with my beanbag and snacks in front of the living room with BOTW with stretches of gaming which most likely hit 24 hours, and with a few intermittent handheld experiences with Fast RMX. I was going through some relationship trouble around that time too (Im now single lol), so the memories are very poignant and my attachment to the Switch became a very personal one as I asscociated it and BOTW as an escape from the downs of real life. Today, Im still just as in love with BOTW because of that connection... I am going to start a 3rd playthrough on master mode as I cant seem to get enough of the initial emotive memories of being on Plateau, hearing the first tower theme and seeing the first sunset as I approach my first shrine. The Switch has exceeded my expectations entirely and everything else from this point for me would be a bonus. Thank you Nintendo! Happy birthday Switch!

Just as a note, my input was not issuing Rummy or anyone to step down. Its just that its a shame the forums have not evolved from what I believe has been a consistent N-Europe issue. As @Clownferret said "it was allowed to continue because the protagonists were friends with the mod's", is the vibe I have always felt. Its a shame because this time last year, I was posting a daily countdown to the Switch's launch, nervously excited for the 3rd of March 2017 to come... I am a true Nintendo fan, Im sure not without my community flaws, but in most cases I have been fairly reasonable in my communications... Only to be called a '(Nintendo) zealot' by a member of staff as they came in the defence of a "respected" forum member. Whilst people should rightly be passionate about Nintendo on a Nintendo forum, there seem to have been (past tense, not sure if its changed) those who were pretty passionate and consistent with negative communication re Nintendo, including mods, which I feel is the reason for much more amped up beefs between members, because mods and the administrator do not seem to realize their clout when they choose to intervene in a discussion and lean towards one side, instead of being impartial. Anyway, Happy Switch birthday mofos!

As a long term member who has dropped out with absolute zero motivation to post here, even during this golden age of Nintendo gaming... I'd say something does need to change if this forum wants a flourishing community. My number one disgust with this forum was the consistent impartiality of mods, especially when key/favoured members are involved. It created a toxic/oppressive feel to this forum that just didn't feel fun to post anymore. Its a shame, because once I decided to stay away because of these politics, most of us were having fun in our weekly MK sessions etc. My two pence.

LOL - I saw that.

That was the most intense freaking round! Thanks to everyone who took part - good shiz!

@Rummy you see your post highlights the clicky, buddy defence thing that's going on here - it's especially obvious when moderators consistently lack the impartiality they're supposed to exercise. You knowing Flink personally really shouldn't mean his views or opinions are more so regarded than mine, if you're really about creating a fair community here. Likewise with Ashley too - there have been times when you've spoken on behalf of the person I quoted in a sort of support-defence way, ironically usually followed by "to be fair". I really don't know how disagreeing with a statement is dismissing it... I never insuated Flink was lying. I trust the experiences that members postbis factual. I merely disagreed with the statement and thought a main motivation to post this observation was because it kind of aligned with his own sentiment - I'm still not dismissing his point. I have accepted it and came with my own personal opinion as a live owner of the device in question. Im really not bothered by people disliking the things I like. I've been very critical of Nintendo too but that seems to disappear into mist. It's become a very toxic environment IMO. It's a consistent cycle of personal alignments and battle lines. I'm not leaving the forum to be dramatic but it just feels like a waste of time posting when all people choose to see are 'sides'. And yes I'm not going to lie it does get a bit personal - and that's because we've practically grew up together and personal life events were posted here... so it does feel a bit (sad?) when other members views and opinions seem valued more so than others. But hey I will take some accountability. If I've said anything that has offended you or made you feel ridiculed - please accept my sincere apology. That's not who I am and I always aim to discuss respectfully. A lot of us are friends on Switch so we'll still be linked. King_V salute.
