  1. I think the real issue here is why hasn't @Fierce_LiNk got Splatoon.
  2. again, I don't think it removes the barriers specifically for developers of what you call 'app type games' any more than it removes the barriers simply for everyone - i.e. your Capcoms, your Konamis, your Segas. But I sense we're at an impasse here.
  3. oh, you're not wrong about that - of course it would remove barriers when it comes to porting across current Android-compatible software. That would obviously be one of the main benefits now that pretty much every third party is migrating to that ecosystem. I just thought you were making completely different leap entirely in suggesting it would have any bearing on the type of the software or hardware Nintendo themselves make.
  4. People weren't lying about the final boss. It's so inking fun!
  5. what. no big conflation between 'mobile' and 'Android OS' at play there. one doesn't have any bearing on the other. Android-compatibility is at the heart of big players in the console business as much as it is mobile developers. Unreal, Unity, CryEngine - all these engines make it a priority to run on Android, but they're hardly synonymous with 'mobile type games'. It would be more about broad compatibility for everyone by providing a very familiar and well-documented software environment. hope that helps. __ Eurogamer points out a nuance in the original Nikkei report. Apparently it's only being considered "a possibility".
  6. I can see it. I also don't think they would consider it if they weren't confident about their security capabilities. I'm really not knowledgeable on the subject but I don't think 'bad security' is an inherent thing in open-source or anything. But yeah. I suppose it would be 'significant' inasmuch that Nintendo have always built their own OS from scratch, but making further strides towards developer-friendliness would certainly fit in with their strategies lately.
  7. "Good morning. Doctor Mario will be releasing this December. Thank you for watching our E3 Digital Event. See you on the show floor!"
  8. They need to hurry up and make Monster Hunter 5 for smartphones. But they should make it a Nintendo-exclusive smartphone game, which will work by only allowing you to run it if you've posted nice things about Nintendo on internet message boards. It should come complete with Poor Online Infrastructure™ and Not Very Good Graphics©
  9. I thought I would discard the motion controls and stick with dual-analogue; but to my surprise, after playing my first couple of rounds with them, I just couldn't do without them. As soon as I switched them off, I instinctively kept trying to tilt the controller for a precise aim. I think the reason they work for me is because it's essentially a combo-scheme. The right stick does most of the heavy turning, but that instant feedback from the gyro is great for aiming. The cursor sensitivity ramped up to max, of course. How's everyone else playing? ALSO: I spotted this - I presume it's from a Miiverse post
  10. I think it's a joke...
  11. So Animal Crossing seems to be the word on the street. I remember when the development team expressed their regret at not really doing much new in regards to City Folk. But on the other hand... I wonder if it's realistic to expect a big shake-up after New Leaf? I think it's kind of a double-edged sword. New Leaf was hugely popular and successful. There's probably a big urge to take a 'we shake up the formula at our peril' stance. But on the other hand, I think there's a widely-held consensus that the series is more popular and better-suited on handheld. So perhaps there is more pressure to do something different. I just don't see what sweeping changes they'd make with a Wii U version. But I don't have a pretty good imagination Streamline/expand the online community aspect? I always had this idea that Animal Crossing could have a big online brochure of all the items, but it would be like a living, always-evolving economy. So rarer and more popular items cost more Bells, etc. I guess players without an online connection couldn't really take advantage of that though. What kinds of ideas do other people have for a home console Animal Crossing?
  12. Had a really great tit-for-tat shootout with someone for control of one of the central ramps on Urchin Underpass. Both of us were ducking out from our respective corners, firing a few shots away, chucking a few grenades. Advantage went one way and then the other. I held out for long enough until a team-mate had gotten round behind and took them out, and then we pressed on for the win. Very satisfying!
  13. It arrived! But I can't even connect to the lobby to start my first online match -_- Just keeps saying 'Error code 104-0197 Could not connect to server'
  14. Great review @Mr\-Paul! Nintendo Store has despatched mine this afternoon. Estimated delivery date "On or before June 1st" >_<
  15. Not for everyone
  16. Why are all yours getting shipped. This is the worst thing Nintendo's ever done to me.
  17. I ordered mine on the Nintendo Store. The site still says 'Processing' and 'Estimated despatch date 29/05'
  18. I've discovered how utterly sick I am with the sniper + motion control
  19. Oh, just got in a game
  20. I did find it a bit odd that there were pretty much zero reminders about it on any of Nintendo's social media channels in the immediate hours before it was due. Maybe there were evident problems beforehand.
  21. I think it's because I dominated so much with a Splat Charger that I broke the servers?
  22. Okami, but I know that it's me, not you.
  23. Argh, I'm horrified with myself for missing tonight when I said I was in. Didn't get in until gone 8, completely unplanned. Sorry guys
  24. I am in for this week!
