This is about where I'm at too. I do not have a pre-order secured yet, but I feel confident I'll be able to pick one up on launch here without too many issues. I'm hyped for MK, but happy to skip it at launch (I'd prefer a physical copy and can nope out of 80 bones for now and hope for a discount in the future). Honestly, I'm mostly looking forward to GC on NSO and finishing TOTK with a good resolution and framerate having dropped it at around the 130 hour mark . Will probably dip into the Kirby expansion too. Considering a few titles I haven't beat yet are getting free updates for Switch 2, I think the first few months of me owning this machine are going to be clearing the backlog, enjoying the retro offerings, and dipping into a few indies like the new FAST game. Like you, having a fairly competent PC has made playing the 2017 Switch on the TV a bit harder. I hope owning a Switch 2 is going to inject a bit of new life into the ecosystem for me because I almost exclusively play it handheld these days. That OLED screen is still a beast at 720p!

Absolutely at that price. Shin'en are heroes and wizards.

That's not a bad list at all tbf. The two Zelda games would definitely benefit from a performance patch on better hardware, as would Pokemon of course. Odyssey is a bit of an odd on as that is already buttery smooth at 900p on the OG. I have an inkling this means they're going to boost resolution or add in 120hz support. I hope that is the case! Will definitely boot up ARMS again if that is the case.

Amazing that just holding on to my SNES, N64 and GC stuff for 20-30 years would have netted me a pretty tidy net profit on the OG sticker price by all accounts. The folly of youth and needing "the next thing" made me get rid of it all to fund the next purchase.

Agent Under Fire - All GameCube Games
Nicktendo replied to Cube's topic in General Gaming Discussion
As I was reading through this thread I remembered this: I'm sure we've all seen it. I watched it multiple times back in the day. Amazing that Donkey Kong Racing disappeared without a trace and wasn't reworked in some way. And Kameo of course, finding a home on the Xbox. I always thought the Galleon trailer was amazing. What ever happened to that game? -
Agent Under Fire - All GameCube Games
Nicktendo replied to Cube's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Colin Moriarty refers to the NFL and American Football as the "greatest tactical RPG of all time", and I think he's probably right about it. It's quite a hard sport to get into it, but once you do, it's a lot of fun to play (as a video game at least) and fun to watch. The Madden games of today unfortunately suffer from FIFA syndrome though, where EA is just using them as a vehicle for people to micro-transact and spend money. The old games from this gen and the PS360 gen are really fun though. -
Managed to snag a GameCube controller fairly quickly after waiting 30 seconds in a queue of 12 people. Definitely going to try and source the system locally on launch day though. Managed to get the OLED with zero issues on day 1 here, so I hope the same will be true of this one.

Really looking forward to this one. Put ~80 hours into the OG on Switch and loved every second of it. This is a rogue-like done properly and I bought it on a whim for £3 in a sale. Will be interesting to see how the switch to 3D changes things up.

I'm seeing a lot of misreadings of the Game-Key Cards online. Some people claiming ALL games will be a key card. Clearly not. But yes, it does seem that this is replacing the slip of paper, code-in-a-box physical we got with some Switch OG games. It seems Key-Card does not register the game to your account, hence needing the cartridge to be inserted. I do think this means resale, trading, lending to friends etc will be possible, which is obviously a much better system than Switch 1.

Big flex

Same. Fast RMX was my 2nd Switch game after BOTW and it was awesome.

That's FANTASTIC!

Probably going for a BOTW / TOTK thing with it. They know it will sell well, so they bump the price up. I remember paying £70 for BOTW on launch from GAME because GAME. That was the RRP (phys & digital) at least, even if many places sold it below that. I think the standard is going to be £66 and the "big games" will have a £75 price tag. Nintendo's cheaper digital prices ain't gonna be fooling me tho. No sir. I'm going Olivia Newton-John for every major release this gen.

Kinda disappointing stream overall to some extent - I was honestly expecting WAY more first-party stuff, but the things they gave us look great anyway. DK and MK look incredible and I can't wait to play them. Seeing BOTW and TOTK in 60fps was wonderful, Kirby too. I'll be upgrading them all. My poor wallet. Too much third party stuff IMO, and most of these games I don't care about or already own on PC, but it's very good to see Nintendo courting so many of them, only a good thing in the grand scheme of things. Absolutely amazing that we go the trifecta of 120hz, HDR and 4K. This genuinely surprised me and I cannot wait to see how 1st and 3rd party devs use all of the tech (and input options) available to them. GameCube was kinda expected but still a massive shock to see Soul Calibur II and F-Zero GX there on day 1. Two of my very favourite game from that gen. I cannot wait!

I can see it now. 6-7 years of Direct segments dedicated to upgraded Switch games. June 2025: Legend of Zelda™: Breath of the Wild™ - Nintendo Switch 2™ Edition!! Dropping in the e-shop right after this trailer!!! December 2025: Super Mario Odyssey™ - Nintendo Switch 2™ Edition!! Dropping in the e-shop right after this trailer!!! Repeat Ad Nauseum until... December 2030: Donkey Kong Country Returns™: HD Remake - Nintendo Switch 2™ Edition!! Dropping in the e-shop right after this trailer!!!

...which we are quite clearly, based on that wording, going to need to pay for...

I think it can all easily be explained by who owns SNK and who owns Ronaldo's current contract. As cringe as it may be, it's going to be the biggest Fatal Fury game of all time.

My Switch Wishlist is now empty! The first time since 2017, or ever, basically. I got my final voucher a couple of weeks ago, which I used on Xenoblade X and Famicom Detective Club. Found a nice deal on Amazon Germany for Emio physical, so that's coming later this week, and I used my final gold points on Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster, which was on sale at 40% off if memory serves me correctly. With my gold coins it was around £30, which I thought was a solid deal for 6 games. Of course, this all means I actually have dropped RDR2 for now, and I'm currently going through FF1 and Xenoblade during most of my free time - I'll have updates on both soon. Feels kinda strange that the Switch is coming to an end though. And I'm also kinda sad that my final physical game is going to have a huge irremovable rating / warning badge on the cover and, even worse, be in German . Sad times, but there's always a financial or aesthetic cost to remaining somewhat physical in this part of the world. What pledge, sorry?

You know what, that's not a bad shout actually. Maybe not a "pro" edition per se, but spruce it up a little bit internally, have a nice fancy limited edition design. Make the OLED screen the standard and discontinue the OG. 64gb storage. Same on the Lite, few new colours. $100 / £100 price drop for both models. Pack in a big hit or two. Finally kick of a player's choice range. Congratulation, PS2 is dunzo. 10 million+ EZ sales.

I always thought the 2 Rare N64 shooters were very front loaded. The first few levels in each are endlessly replayable and a lot of fun, but they both dip heavily in the mid-game. Unlike Goldeneye, Perfect Dark doesn't pick up again towards the end, and the back half of the game is pretty average. Level design is not very interesting and I was never really a fan of the alien stuff. I've played through both to the end on NSO (and Goldeneye once again on Series S) and had a great time with both, but those games were really all about the multiplayer and the fun times with friends looking back.
