Can't find myself agreeing with that. PS Plus has actually gotten miles better since they started charging more, this month for instance you're looking at the Borderlands 2 + prequel incl DLC remaster as well as Sonic Mania, both cracking games. I bet if you ask most people on here they'd agree it has gotten a lot better if you compare it to the first half of the PS4's life. As for what Microsoft have been doing to restore favour, at the end of the day their exclusives haven't come close to the PS4's, and that really what matters to me.

I agree. I don't want to play just the same game again.
-
Turns out they were doing the right thing of not spilling everything before release! I knew it wouldn't take them years, especially since it's going to be episodic.
-
This looks really quite boring to me. Like, just from watching that video I feel that I can already tell exactly how this game is going to play and that it doesn't look particularly interesting. An example or what I'm getting at - walking and swimming looks really quite slow and laboured.
-
That's very disappointing. Crazy that Nintendo still cannot seem to get online right, and that they are now charging for it. If I hadn't got the 12-month sub for a year free with Amazon Prime there is literally no way I'd have bought it.

Yeah, I was just hoping that the magic unlocked or some such in response to being with the dragons. He's basically no different in background to Dany so don't see why it's one rule for her...

Sorry, tried but seemed to erase my post altogether in Tapatalk. I would recommend people not visit the thread if not up to date.

I had hoped that Drogon would have breathed fire at Jon, only for him to emerge unscathed due to his Targaryen blood (similar to how Dany survived the fire with the dragons in series 1). Would have been a cool moment.

If it's stupid why is it plausible? Especially if they had no fucking clue whether their competitor was also doing it? (they weren't). Microsoft crucified themselves over it - it makes you think if they even did any market research to see whether people cared about the things they were implementing. Which to me, makes the whole proposition very implausible indeed. But hey, it happened. Also, your point of "not being able to own your own games in 2020" - let's get real here. Steam and Epic are already doing that - you don't own the games. Everything suggests the majority of people will sacrifice 'true' ownership for convenience and price. Just look at Netflix, too. No, this is entirely a conversation about internet connection, not ownership.

First off, something on a colossally stupid/implausible level already DID happen with Microsoft, hence why they had to reverse all the policies (yet much or the damage was already done). You're arguing that something is stupid/implausible as a means to say it's obvious it won't be done, when something now PROVEN to be stupid has already been done, just this generation. Second, there's the PSP Go and the discless Xbox One S - online-only consoles. Existing alongside physical solutions yes, but bear with me. The PSP Go was released in 2009 - so even 10 years ago these manufacturers saw the benefit of an online-only console. Fast forward 10 years from the PSP Go release date and you now see video game retailers on the high street massively struggling and so having much less importance in the eyes of the manufacturer, in terms of needing to keep them on side. Also, if Sony and Microsoft both went digital only, while they'd lose people with shitty internet connections, on the other hand they would have total market control (setting their own prices) and no money loss due to used game sales - so gaining money that way. The way most games need patching today anyway, it wouldn't surprise me if enough people had good enough internet for them to at least consider it. I still think it's a dumb idea. But the point is...dumb ideas happen all the time. Nintendo for instance, think the idea of using your mobile phone as a gateway to voice chat is a good idea. As I say, strange shit does happen. We should be thankful when good things are announced, and I'm personally not taking anything for granted these days.

You could just as easily argue that in 2013 there is no way a home console would release without the ability to play used games AND require an internet connection (the latter being necessary for streaming also; you shot down the idea of an internet-only console in 2020 and it basically already existed in 2013!). And you could reason that if a console DID launch in 2013 with those features I mentioned missing that there would be outrage and mass shift to the competitor unless the features were added in. And then you realise, that actually, all those things happened! Do you see how what you're arguing - fundamentally something that won't fly with the customer - actually DID happen at the start of the current generation? You say "well, duh" but the "well duh" doesn't always happen! There are other instances of truly bizarre, non-business sense (in the long run), greed-motivated instances of things happening in the past, so this is by no means the most farfetched.
-
Right, backup. You said "well duh" to drahkon's post about the fact they're not taking away any current ways to buy. But here's the thing...it's not "well duh". I agree it SHOULD be "well duh", but it's not the case. Because companies DO do the "duh" approach. Microsoft did it just this generation with the X1 and basically ruined their chances this generation, having to U-turn many of their policies. Companies do not always do what is the most business sense. So even if this is sound from a business and common sense point of view... I'm happy about it. If Sony and Microsoft between them decided to distribute digital only this generation there would be diddly squat we could do about it.
-
You say that but it's not really obvious to these companies at all. Player choice doesn't mean most profit in their minds. Just look at what Microsoft did with used games at the start of this generation...basically the opposite of player choice.

The internet really grinds your gears, doesn't it. [emoji14]

This is why games generally aren't really becoming cheaper, like you hear some people say. Half games, or unfinished games, are becoming cheaper.
-
Hey, Bran's doing stuff! He's massively shit stirring by effectively telling Jon things everyone is better off not knowing! And getting bodyguards killed! 10/10 impact on story, would downvote again.

You looking for a slap, son?
-
I have to say, this game does look stupidly generic. It looks like a game that would have come out towards the start of the PS4's life. Definitely won't be picking this one up.

Have to agree with you Zell about Theon, one of my favourite characters.

Fair enough, I'll spoiler it.

Yet when she was in the library she was reduced to skulking about with all the grace of a hippo lol.

Very much glad they wrapped up this story arc by the half way point. I liked the end of the episode but the battle was standard battle fare - quick flicking between shots where it's hard to make out what was going on.

Well when we talk about games industry crunch and Nintendo it makes a lot more sense to talk about the people making the games and not NoA. Your post seemed somewhat irrelevant or at the very least neglected to mention the crunch that does very much happen at extreme levels at the most sizeable portion of Nintendo. Also the point I was making about the Bioware Magic comparison was the intention behind the use - it was an almost meaningless trigger phrase (like Mario Time) to get your employees to tow the line and not ask questions. Bioware Magic was used to say that it would all turn out ok in the end because Bioware had the magic touch. Similarly, you could say Mario Time was said to remind people of the immense amount of work needed to make a game like Mario. Even if they don't exactly mean the same thing, I think they are phrases used for similar reasons. They are statements used to get people to put in silly hours and not question the task as a matter of blind faith.
