Thanks for the response, that is indeed quite a steal! I think my dad's getting impatient and wants one soon, in fact I think we're sposed to be getting it today. I might as a result of that just go for the Toshiba, it's easier for him if we go get it from instore and then if we have problems to sort etc, plus it's got a few more HDMI ports, and I think we're going to be using at least two already anyway. Which reminds me I need to find some cheapycheap HDMI cables...

So we've just moved house, my parents need to get themselves a new TV now, and they're asking me to help. Despite my postingings around before, I am still very unwise when it comes to TV tech. Plasma is better than LCD(clearer, better colours, better contrast etc) but it's heavier and more power consuming, right? If one had a choice between two similar size TVs at the same price, one LCD and one Plasma, would Plasma be the obvious choice? Also, when it comes to HD. We don't have much HD stuff yet(well, none really, just my 360 with its standard cable and presumably anything I could download off tinternets that's in higher ratios), I foresee adoption of Blu-Ray eventually, however. But for now it's insignificant. What I'm more bothered about, is will our standard pictures(what we get from DVDs and Set-top box) be worse on the better TVs? I've not seen much regular TV in action on HD and HD Ready TVs, but once or twice it looked a bit mank. I don't know if that's the specific TV's fault or what though... Who are some good brands to go for also? Just been looking at HDMI cables also, why do they seem to vary so hugely in price?

Yeah, fuck those people who didn't buy their one single for 29p or anything! I'm indifferent and care not either way, I like what I've heard of rage but all in all, I'm not a rager As for people who are 'big', I guess Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke are, but they both won and dissappeared for a year. Plus they're the last two years' winners, though I find their music fairly unremarkable. Interestingly Joe implied/said pretty outright that he's going to dissappear for a year too before another song is out? Makes me wonder why they do that. Personally, I think out of all the people to sort of come out of these shows, Will Young is the best in my mind. Girls Aloud are ok, but I find them a bit generic at times as well, I do find it slightly amusing when I think the only reason Cherly Cole is on a show like X-Factor is thanks to a show like X-Factor.

I opened both this thread and the Brittany Murphy one at the same time, you can probably imagine my immediate confusion upon reading your post until I reached the word 'track'. Anyway! Christmas is about all those bad songs! AND the fact that there ARE other christmas songs at the same time, whether they become number 1 or not, that's what I like, the big battle of them, with a little handful of christmassy songs trying to duke it out for the top spot.

Next year is a different year either way, I'll be honest and admit I don't hold too much hope for it, because it'll be hard to find a good banner to unite under. Rage was good because there was no conflict of interest, and the whole thing was very quickly done. Next year, as you do say, if people set up all different ones it'll split the effort. I'd like it to be a christmas song, or maybe even like Daft said, someone unsigned, but there'll be people for each of those, then people for a song like RATM or something alternative, and within those a different opinion of each. Possibly. This year there wasn't room for thinking, but hopefuly, HOPEFULLY, it'll still have some impact on next year's.

Is it just me, or is that more of these famous young people are dying that the oldies who've washed up? I swear the majority of the threads we have here about celebrity deaths are people who die young, and more often than not someone I couldn't care much less about. Sure, the girl was a good actress and I liked her in what I saw her in, but like...why should I care when I've seen here in just a few things and people die every day? More and more I see these threads and I wonder, like, what the hell. Maybe I'm just getting older. Maybe every time I see one I secretly just think to myself at least it isn't me or anyone I know. This news about them both being on the same label isn't anything new, I thought it was common knowledge now? It would have been unlikely to have found a song that wasn't signed to a major label anyway, so it wouldn't have made a big point to them. For me my fight was with x-factor and the loss of the classic christmas number 1 battle, and either way I'm sure we can't have made sony all that much. How much money can you make on a 29p download compared to a CD that costs a couple of quid? Of course, it's not like that many who bought RATM were converts from the Joe camp, but meh, I wasn't bothered about trying to fight the big labels just yet...

Does the Sanity Meter aspect of Eternal Darkness not count? Though I have been recently told/witnessed something similarish in MGS1. I think it's kind of unique too, but then realise it isn't, but Little King's Story is sort of more an attempted merge of two/three other styles of games, with some little mutations in the mix. Tbh, I think it's incredibly hard to actually find any truly unique games, if you look wholly, you could argue anything is, if you break things down enough, you could argue nothing is. Though damn, one thing I do always say about one game, is that there is no other game like it, it's something you can't understand until you play, even if you've grown up on the classic fighters, I reckon it's getting its overlooking because it's so commonplace for so many of us, and of course cos it's had 3 installations, but the Smash Bros. Series should definitely deserve an honorable mention, surely!

Well surely the simplest answer to such a simple question, is simply because it was? For exactly the reasons Daft said it had to be RATM. Second to that, it was a campaign that started with RATM, and once it was started it had to be done with the song chosen, so as not to split the efforts like I said. I think the song was an excellent choice for it's point and message actually, I'd never actually properly listened to it before cos it's not my priority music, but I heard it often when I was out and about, and I liked it, but never really listened. Before this campaing, I didn't actually even know the name of it!

You've missed the point. The point was to make a point, not to not be sheep, anticonformity is still conformity. The reason it had to all be done under the Rage banner, is because X-Factor is so big, if we were to all split efforts over 5-6 different(hell, given the numbers I've seen, even just 2) songs, X-Factor would still win, and what good would that be? Can you honestly not see that? As for it being death metal, not that I'm tiptop on mine, but I wouldn't call it that myself, I've heard much more unpalletable stuff to the ears.

I was going to recommend a headset, not that I do much chatting etc on the lines, but I can only imagine it'd be easier/better with a headset, though given my previous statement, I wouldn't know what is a good one. For me, cheap is better than good. How complicated can a headset get, anyway?
