  1. My point exactly. I think it's comfortable right where it is now.
  2. I played this game at a local arcade at the seaside last weekend, and I walked away suitably impressed. I was lukewarm at best about this game before, but now I'm quite looking forward to it! I hope you can play this game with just the Wii-remote. The reason? Dual-wielding. :p
  3. It won't happen. The technical leap is too great. I'm quite looking forward to RE5, but as it isn't going to rear it's infected head until 2009-2010, I'm quite happy with RE4: Wii Edition and Umbrella Chronicles. As a matter a fact, I just bought RE4: Wii Edition only yesterday. The new controls made me giggle like a little girl. Which I am not. I'd like (another) remake of RE1 with Wii-controls, although they'd have to alter the game dramatically. That's one of the reason they shifted course with Umbrella Chronicles, which was going to be a "Best Of" with Wii-controls. The original games just weren't meant to be played with RE4-mechanics. But then again, stranger things have happened.
  4. Current standings: 1. Wii: 912 votes 2. PS3: 186 votes 3. Xbox360: 159 votes Need I say more? I'm quite surprised thet the DS doesn't have more votes, though. I always felt that the GBA/DS was the perfect place for Megaman.
  5. My sentiments exactly. There is a snowflake chance in hell I'm not going to pick up this one, but as I ranted about elsewhere, it's "been there, done this", clinically and by the numbers. No fancy wheel-accessoire is going to chance the fact that it'll probably have a Mushroom, Flower and Star-cup (with 50cc, 100cc and 150cc available), with the final course being Rainbow Road. At least DD shook things up a little. This wouldn't be so bad if Nintendo announced some new stuff for Wii. It has the most ®evolutionary controls of this generation, if not the history of videogames, yet Nintendo let us play "old" games with Wii-controls tacked on it (Wario Ware and WiiSport being notable exceptions). Oh, and WiiFit doesn't count. To be blunt, at this moment I don't care about any WiiWhatever or another fancy channel. I just want new and fresh games coming from Nintendo. I want my Metroid, Mario Kart and Mario-fix. But really, Nintendo: some new balls too, please. Still, one more day to go?
  6. Must... resist... bad... pun... Can't... Aarrgh! Bii-Mario! There, I did it. It was too obvious. Sorry about that.
  7. I'm in a rather ranty mood today, so start the ranting and controversy: I hope Nintendo will finally show of some new 1st-party-IP. Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to MP: Corrpution, Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart Wii as any other man/woman, but I really think Nintendo should come up with some new intellectual properties. Granted, there is a lot of 3rd-party-support to fill that gap (Eledees, to name but one), but I remember when the Gamecube launched, there were a lot of refreshing Nintendo IP's, like Luigi's Mansion and Pikmin to name but a few. They were fresh to play and loved them for that. Yes, there is the Wii-brand (WiiSport, WiiPlay, etc.) and ExciteTruck (while in the Excitebrand, it warrants it's own place), but none of those are exactely groundbreaking or fully-fledged games. While it's true the Wii-controls are refreshing and revolutionary, why do they stick to the sure-hit-guns like Metroid, Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Smash Bros., Mario Party (Ugh), Mario Kart and so on? Where are this generation's "Pikmins" (Oh, obviously, Pikmin doesn't count as new IP, nor does Pilotwings )? Where are the neat ideas contentwise? Where is the originality gamewise? They can come up with great controls, why not use them for new IP's too? The only new 1st-party-IP I can come up with are Disaster: Day of Crisis and Project H.A.M.M.E.R., of which the latter is rumoured to be cancelled to focus on, you guessed it, the ongoing projects. I don't say the traditional IP's should be neglected, on the contrary. I just wish Nintendo would surprise me like it once did. Everybody knew, even before the Wii was completely unveiled, there was going to be a new Mario, Zelda and Kart-game. As good as they may be, I want a new IP to sink my teeth into, as well as the more traditional IP's. I feel like they're burning through their IP's as if there is an expiringdate closing in on them. IMO, they should spread their traditional IP's more and add some new IP's to the fold. But then again, I'm not a marketeer, am I?
  8. It made the newspapers in Belgium today, along with the confirmation that Manhunt 2 will be released in Belgian stores. Blisa, the Belgian organisation responsible for the producement and retail of videogames, don't mind that Manhunt 2 is released, as it has the appropriate label. They trust retailers to follow the accompanied rules. For once, Belgium is a nice and sane place to live.
  9. Hmmm, Killer7 was a pretty good game, but I don't think it would be very benefitial to port it to Wii. It'd work rather well on a Wii-remote, I wager. I wouldn't buy it is it were a simple port, unlike RE4. As you say, probably a mistake, but then again... Stranger things have happened! Too true. I've started playing this game. Truely magical, and indeed screaming "WII"!!!
  10. ... 'cuse me? Anyhoo, I don't think the Final Smash will ruin the gameplay. I don't think it will occur very ofter either. And it'll be fun to see all the players leg for it to get it first! A "Holy Grail" of some sorts. Kirby seems to miss it entierly, though. And I still want my Mii to be a playable character... That site needs a "contact" link.
  11. I thought the initial charge-up (with the pointer goping from the right to left) had an effect on the amount of balls you fire. When the pointer goes back to the right (rather fast), the closer you get the pointer to the "sweet spot" on the scale, the faster the balls will go and the less time the keeper has to stop them. I can be wrong, though. EDIT: the official site seems to confirm this. I don't have the manual right here to doublecheck, though.
  12. When it comes to buying games, I only trust myself (egocentricity ahoy!). I just go buy the game in the shops. Ordering it online and shipping and the like are too many "if"'s. Ofcourse, living in Belgium, you're never quite sure if they send you the English of French version. Normally this isn't a problem, IF they bother to read the order properly. And where I live, I'm quite literaly surrounded by gameshops. I could not not see games on sale even if I tried. Anyway... Depends, really. Iy you manage to get your line on the speedscale just right, I pity the keeper on the recieving end. Unless they have some kind of spider-sense. Either that, or I'm just rubbish. Probably the latter, though...
  13. The two pricetags I've seen so far are €49,99 and €52,99. Can't say how much it is in pounds, though. As for importing, as the game is released everywhere tomorrow, I'd just wait 'till tomorrow.
  14. From Leuven, Belgium. I bought the game yesterday while on a stroll after work in Brussels. I had seen it before, though, popping up more frequently in stores since monday. I suspect that, despite having the Mario-banner, the shops regard this a a low-profile-game, and they tend not to follow streetdates for such titles. Little do they know... And indeed, the loading times are longer then expected. When you return to the main menu (and a lovely menu is is. When as lovely as main menus get) after a match, it takes quite some time. Not too long, but rather long for a Wii-game. That said, I didn't really mind. I'm used to PS3 too.
  15. Actually, a little pixiefairy said that, if I were a good boy, I would get an early peek. However, me being a scoundrel and all, I squashed the little pixiefairy, used her magical wand to get me a nice golden timemachine, paid a visit to the future, got me a copy, got back to present day and prevented the Global ConsoleWar I (GCWI) from ever happening. Oh, you'll never believe the news in about two and a half weeks time! Or rather, a lot of stores here in Belgium have been selling Strikers since the beginning of the week. Dare I say, the copies are a rather common sight overhere. Yes, very odd for a Nintendo-game to be released before streetdate, but alas. Hmm, good point. I remember looking at the booklet. I didn't notice a new MP3-image, but I wasn't really paying attention. I shall give it a closer look the moment I get home, though.
  16. Can't comment on the online-side of things, but let me tell you I absolutely, completely, really, really HATE football, but I quite like Mario Strikers Charged Football, just as I liked Sega Soccer Slam. Oh, and I also hate Fifa and Pro Evo and the like. It's football, but in concept only. However, if you're not sure, it's a "try-before-you-buy". Anyway, there seem to be a lot of chaps waiting for the mailman. Here on the mainland, there are copies aplenty on the shelves. I bought Strikers yesterday by chance, as I saw in on a shelf by accident. I was planning on buying it, but well... there's Strikers everywhere. Everywhere, I tell ye! Lucky me, because the mail is on strike for a good part of the nation for the past two weeks. No Strikers due to a strike. Oh, the irony...
  17. I played it briefly yesterday (offline, mind), and my first impressions are very favourable indeed! The default difficultysetting is too easy, though. I won my very first match with 22-2 and 36-2 and I never played the GC-title. Then I set it to three and got my a$$ kicked. On the default setting (strange, also the easiest setting), yopu can MegaStrike away without ever getting tackled. The offence doesn't put much effort in it either. So ramp up that difficulty setting!
  18. I fired up Melee yesterday for ol' times sake. I lost my savefile a long time ago, so I can collect those trophies all over again. Somehow, this doesn't seem to bother me at all. :p Anyway, the person who ever started calling Mario "Mazza" ought to be hanged in public as an example. And a few random bystanders. Just to be sure.
  19. I second that.
  20. Anyway, modding the Wii to play DVD's is indeed illegal. And as for Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z -note the "Z" it isn't used as in a slang-pural (as in Ballz) or replacing the last letter of a word. It is simply a suffix to point out it's a new story-arc, set after a timeskip-, the manga is very good and set new standards in it's time, and arguably even now. The anime is... meh, a pale shadow of it's source material, in my opinion. And one for the fact-fans: in the manga, there never was a "Z" to begin with. It was a simple continuation of Dragon Ball. They added the "Z" when adapting the story-arch to anime. As for Budokai Tenkaishi 2 on Wii, it is a rather good game. Won't set the scene on fire, but then again, in how many game do you have to make a fireball-throwing gesture to blast your opponent to pieces? It takes some getting used to (make that: a lot of getting used to), but once you got the grips on it, I never turned back to standard controles. It is way more dynamic with Wii-controls!
  21. Just for the record: I've seen it on sale today in stores in Belgium. That's three days before the actual release date. That's rather uncommon for a Nintendo-title. Anyhoo, all the better for us gamers! Haven't looked at the price, though. I haven't bought it. Not yet.
  22. I'm looking forward to this game! Note the future tense, since I haven't been able to find a copy yet. Well, I did find one on launchday in Brussels, but it was "version Français", dispite having multiple languages ingame, but is assumed I would find one in my region, Leuven. Grave mistake that turned out to be. Not a copy anywhere, nor a release date. Odd. Mighty odd. If only I could go back in time to that moment in Brussels. All I need is a shiny golden timemachine! Who's got a flux capacitor to spare? All I have to do is power the baby up with 1.21 gigawatts and off we go!
  23. If this is real, I'll eat my hat. Which isn't a very pleasant prospect, because it is not a tasty hat. Street Fighter Alpha/Zero - Street Fighter Alpha/Zero 2? But then again, it could be argued that SFA was imply a testing bed for SFA2. When recently playing SFA Anthology, it's actually quite clear SFA was simply "to test the waters as it were". Anyway, while ExciteTruck is definitely not a bad game and I would welcome a sequel with open arms, Blender's wild enthousiasm for the sequel does frighten me a bit there...
  24. Hmmm, though I'd love a Nights-game, I find it strange that Sega of Japan would give this exclusive to a UK-based mag, official or not. Then again, ONM clarified it could very well end up being announced online, so it isn't quite as exclusive as they'd like us to think. As a matter a fact, there is an unusual lack of "M3GATON!!!"-attitude on this forum, which is a very, very good thing indeed. ^_^ Good things come to those who wait, I guess. It better not be another Mario Party, though! :p Oh wait...
  25. Hmmm, can't say I'm very enthousiastic about the new name. Still, it's only a name, and it still looks like a world of funfunfun! The LED-reference is quite clever, though Elebits sounded like "bits of electricity", which made more sense.. in a freaky kinda way.
