  1. Ah, it arrived yesterday... and it's even harderer then I remember. I was lucky to finish the first level! Insanity, but the good kind! Classic! While flipping through the manual, I saw a safetywarning that household TV's shouldn't be turned on their sides, and the vertical display should only be used for special monitors. I wonder how many people connected their GC up to a sideleaning-compatible monitor. Could the GC be connected to a PC-monitor? Can't remember, really...
  2. I tried it, but is was pretty pointless. I had a CRT-telly back then, but given that it's rather bad for the tube (and not very stable), I quickly abandoned the idea. Now I have a LCD-screen so no tilting for me! Actually, they still make these kind of shooters. Too bad they are so very niche.I just like saying that sentence, as it fills me with the illusion that I am old and wise. Well, the old is barely an illusion, though.
  3. Is there something this game can't do?
  4. A recent stroll around eBay has bagged me a nice copy of Ikaruga! Stupid thing is, I once had Ikaruga, but sold it together with my GameCube. A shame, because it's really a great ol-skool hard-as-nails (puzzle)shooter! Here's to more hours filled with frustration and broken controllers, and loving every minute of it! It's coming to 360 Arcade too, but since I don't have my consoles hooked up on the net, this'll do nicely. Yep, they don't make 'em like they used to. Saying that makes me feel very, very old... Madness in visual form
  5. There is still a certain something about magazines a site can't deliver (no offence, N-Europe). Still, there are some crap mags outthere, like ONM. I'm definitely going to buy this one. The problem I have with Halo 3 is that, despite playing very, very well, it's that 'played-it-al-before'-very, very well. It's the same controlmethod I've been playing for so many years now, albeit nearly perfected. I crave something new. That's why, despite all it's blatant shortcomings, I really like Red Steel. It's a new way to play, and that what draws me to MP3:C. Well, that and the Metroid-franchise, ofcourse. In short: can't wait!
  6. Cue happy-dance! So Grasshopper is handling this one? Odd choice. Well, it wouldn't be my first choice, given their back catalogue, but they might bring a nice twist to a series that needed a little more originality-juice after three games. I'll be closely keeping my peeping eye on this one.
  7. Still ain't convinced it is a very clever name, but in all fairness, I couldn't care less. It doesn't really matter when you're playing the games. Xbox is an awful name, but that doesn't bother me either. And let's face it: "Playstation" isn't an exactly good name either. Still, it's become a brand. Lesson from this: consolenames generally suck. Still think Sega Saturn and Dreamcast weren't too shabby a names. I really, really liked the Dreamcast logo! Simple and good, especially in the European blue-version. I still think that Nintendo Go had a nice ring to it. It sounds 'activating', not to mention it means 5 in Japanese, and being Nintendo's fifth home console and all. A rose, eh. A rose. And for our daily nostagia-fix, the ficture that started the Nintendo Go-hoax:
  8. Looking even better by the day! Jeux-France has a lot of nice (shaky-cam) pics up, taken from Micromania Show 2007. Check them out here PAL-boxart: nothing really new, but hey.
  9. Genius! On the subject of Yoshi: "How about I capture one so we can see what they taste like?" Sly MGS3-reference there.
  10. Sounds like an Eternal Darkness-sequel. Not ever going to happen, though... Shame... Shame... Damn SK! Damn their eyes! Not even a remake on 360 is possible, as Nintendo holds all the rights! Damn their eyes too! Why, thank you, IGN, for clearing that up! Agreed. The day they do will be a happy day indeed.
  11. I want the world!! Not getting that, this is what I would like in Zelda Wii, albeit with a lot of repeats from previous posts: Twisty-turny twists 'n turns An epic and dark feel An orchestrated soundtrack Some more originality in settings. No Death Mountain re-revisit or frozen Zora's Domain, please. Ganondorf. Yes, that's not original at all, but I like him. Some changes to the format. It worked with OoT, but times have moved on. Not only 'search dungeon A for piece 2 of object X. A challenge The same well-thought boss-battles. Well, not exactly the same ofcourse, but with the same amount of originality. TP's boss-battles are textbook examples of how to do a boss-battle. Now this is what I NOT want in a Zelda game: Another half remake of, classic as it may be, OoT. TP gave me a MGS2-feeling. People who know the story of MGS2 will know what I mean. Voice-acting. It's simply not done. It suits Zelda perfectly as it is now. It'd be odd to hear English in Hyrule. The text-only communications add to the exotic and peculiar world of Hyrule. It's more of an English subtitled translation of Hyrulian. Besides, ever heard Bowser, Peach or those Pianta's in Mario Sunshine? You get the general idea. And the Covenant in Halo lost a bit of their magic once they all spoke in fluent English amongst eachother. Having to start at the beginning of a temple every time I stop playing. Be told how much a red/yellow/blue rupee is worth every time I start playing again. If I can remember the controls, the lay-out of a temple, the puzzles within, the tactics of bosses, the pecularities of all the characters and the progress of the quest in general, I can remember the value of a red rupee. And if I didn't remember, I'd take it anyways.
  12. Another month, another ONM-screwup. Sure, you might be promised an exclusive, and then the deal falls through. Could happen to anyone. But with ONM it's more the rule than exception. They'd lose creditibility, if they had any left. For an official magazine, they are seem to be completely clueless as to anything Nintendo. Shameful. Utterly shameful.
  13. Tasty! That's a most respectable mod! Not a simple 'let's ad some paint and be done with it'-job, but a work of passion, expertise and... wel, moneymaking. I'd like it next to my TV, no doubt, but no way I'd spend this kind of money on a console with added bits. It's not like it's going to do the cooking and cleaning for me. But kudos to the maker!
  14. Can't say I ever saw something from or even heard about G4TV before I read the news. It does look very... blegh. Seems to be more of the "OMFG! THIS IZ DA $HIT!! FTW!!"-mentality rather than "and now we have some interesting news". Then again, I'm being superficial to judge a book by it's cover. Either they have some really great news about something, or they lose a considerable chunk of credibility. But I'm not holding my breath. If every promise of 'great news' I read on the net was true, I'd be playing Shenmue 3 on Sega's new console and died of pure heavenly gaming-overdose.
  15. Apparantly, G4TV has something up it's sleeve: "This Thursday, September 27th at 7:20 pm ET during Attack of the Show, G4 has some really big news to share with all of you. What is it? You'll have to tune in and hear it for yourself, but trust us when we say G4 has never made an announcement this BIG before! So be sure to tune in Thursday at 7:20pm ET for an exciting announcement!" Smells like hype and hot fuzz to me. Probably isn't even Wii related, but you never know. Maybe someone, while dusting, finally struck upon that MeGaToN!! nobody ever found? Sourcysource
  16. I want this game! I really, really do! Please have mercy on us, and bring us a PAL-version! I'm willing to sell my unborn son! Pocky and Rocky and it's arcade inpiration were awesome and hard as nails.
  17. Dave Perry latest projects were 'Enter the Matrix' and 'Path of Neo', surely guidebooks on intuitive and enjoyable controls. He had a full three games planned after that, including a PSP-remake of Earthworm Jim (Perry's only bright star IMO), and they were all three canned. Now he's in directing (mostly MMO and MMORPG) and acts as a consultant for the upcoming Simpsons-game. Not exactly a reference on the finer points of gaming, methinks.
  18. If there next Fatal Frame/Project Zero comes to Wii, I'll be doing my happy-dance! Actually, I'll be doing my happy-dance if a new Project Zero comes to any format! Now those are some creepy games. Can teach Resident Evil a thing or two in the scare-department. Then again, you can't compare zombies and ghosts, eh.
  19. Good riddance, I say! I once dared to say I didn't think Mario Sunshine was a real classic. I nearly got crucified. I was attacked for months to come by midgets with torches, pitchforks and ill-tailored Mario-hats. Now for the site itself. On some pages they still talk about the 'recent launch of the GameCube'! Hardly breaking news. Some updating might be in order.
  20. I wouldn't mind some new IP's from Nintendo. Aside from that, coming from Nintendo itself: Luigi's Mansion 2 Pikmin 3 The fabulous return of the Koopa Kids Proper Starfox à la 64 (Flying, shooting, bosses. No on-foot, no battleplans, no intercepting missiles for the umpteenth time) Eternal Darkness 2 (OK, that's Silicon Knights', but one can hope.) Less minigame-games An unimaginative list if ever there was one.
  21. Hold on to your horses, it's gonna start raining kiwi's! Sega actually does something the fans want? Anything goes from now. Someone must be ill. That or an employee from the good ol' days must have been rehired. Anyhoo: So Gearbox is handeling it, eh? Peculiar choice for such a game, but you never know. They did a fine job on porting Halo to PC, so I hope they can get the feel of Samba De Amigo just right.
  22. Luigi's Mansion, because I love it so much! But then again, I doubt the Wii-remote would be suitable (or even workable - pointer wouldn't work, no analogue triggers, etc.) for this game, so let's just play the GC-version. So... here's to Luigi's Mansion 2! :wink
  23. I agree. I never quite got the hype about Reggie. His E3'04 was good and unexpectedly aggressive, but even since he has been a Nintendo-robot. He never really said anything useful, unless you count '"Wii/DS is selling great... No competition... Love us...Great titles... I'm happy..." as informative. He still talks the talk, but can't walk the walk anymore. He's trying so hard to do another E3'04 it's becoming a bit embarrassing really.
  24. One star. But it's a very, very nice star!
  25. Hey, that looks pretty decent actually! Nice! And do you really have to aim for those Goron's... private parts? They do wear something behind that target, right?
