Wacky Races! But... the game... Can't judge a book by it's cover, but still. The Dreamcast version was a lot of fun, though, if a Mario kart rip-off. Still, it held its ground.
-
It very well could be. No classic series is safe from the odd slip. I'll reserve judgement until I get to play it myself, though.
-
True! Not to mention dualwielding with HotD 2 & 3!

Argh, I must be weak! Since no store could confirm the release of the standalone game anytime soon, I went and bought the Action Pack. I bow my head in shame, I do. Still, atleast I got the game! And trust be told, that Squad Gun isn't too shabby at all! I was premature in calling it a cheap Wii-zapper ripp-off. The nunchuck is quite steady and the trigger responsive. Still, I don't use it much at all, since I picked up one of these: The BigBen Shoot Active Gun! Can't say how it stackes up against Nyko's Perfect Shot, but I'm happy as can be! This is way better than playing Umbrella Chronicles or Ghost Squad with that large Zapper! The nunchuk can be connected at the bottom of the grip. There is a security so that your Wii-remote won't fall out of it while in a frantic game of GS. The only gripe I thought I would be having, was that the trigger only only registers when it 'clicks' when you press it all the way back, so you have to pull the trigger all the way back, or never really release the trigger completely. (Hmmm, that sentence is badly written...) But strangely, I haven't found that an issue at all! As a matter a fact, I forgot all about it once I played with it. I only remember it now because I was thinking of possible gripes. Now, if you'd excuse me, there are some terrorists that need adressing to.

Nintendo, lowering the price of a console? Only when it's lying in the gutter, begging to finally be put down. Nintendo hasn't exactly got a reputation for price-cuts. And with the new price of the 360, I doubt they'd do it now because it's still selling like hot cakes, and because it would be a sign that they 'fear' the 360.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Spoilers Topic)

For Edge, that is an excellent score! -
This is Gary, on the right. It's one of the first characters you meet. It's the one who does the 'plotting and thinking'.
-
I feel you. I hope Gary gets what he has comin', and gets it real good! N-Europe's White Knights ahoy!

Hmmm, I must admit I'm getting more and more in the vibe of this game. I started replaying Mario Kart DD and finally got Mario Kart DS back from my girlfriend (with al records broken. Curses!). I was apathic about this game for a while, but the flame started burning again. It's calling me... Wha... What, you say? A re... red shell? Straight on the head? As you wish, Master...

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Spoilers Topic)

Since when is a 9.4 a disappointing score? A 9.4 translates as a Must Have in my books. A 9.8 or 10.0? Isn't that setting expectations a little bit too high? -
Hmmm, I actually still like SPM a lot! Still haven't finished it yet (it's on my far too long To-Do-list), but I still think it's a very charming game, albeit not a perfect one. I'm not disappointed at all with this game. But it is an aquired taste, though, a case of Love It or Hate It. Still, it's not as awesome as Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, but then again, even Partners in Time couldn't match that.

I have to say, I like this game way better than GTA. Maybe it's just that I have a 'been there, done that'-feeling with the GTA-franchise. I only started playing San Andreas a couple of weeks back, but it's Bully that draws me back every time. The fighting takes some getting used to, though. But, man/woman, does it feel physical!

I'm buying this game! Again! That's about the third time I'll own HotD2. It's still the best, even with the corniest voice-acting this side of the universe. Now, where's that perfect shot... I wonder how'd they manage that. HotD 4 runs on Lindbergh hardware, which, with all respect for our beloved console, kicks Wii's behind in term of graphical power. They'd have to downscale it considerably: SD, less polygons, less fancy shaders, possible fps-drop, etc. I fear for what that endresult might be like, but I like to be surprised. HotD 4 arcade

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Spoilers Topic)

And it's Super Paper Mario all over again... If that was anything to go by, don't expect to Brawl until atleast september. I too wouldn't mind to wait, if we knew how long we'd have to wait! l' Aspiration est mieux que la possession, but this is plain ridiculous. Moaning aside, I'll sink my teeth in Melee..; again. I sold it a long time ago and bought it again to play on Wii, but ofcourse my trophee room is scarce again. Oh well, gotta win them all again! The only gripe I have with that game is that some characters, like Captain Falcon, are just too fast. Maybe it's just not my thing, but I find it hard to move around on stages with a lot of drops. I guess it's what suits your taste, eh. -
Can't comment on the videos, as I can't open them right now. Apart from the character models, it looks just about right to me in stills. Mario Kart DS is still my favourite, followed closely by Super Mario Kart. Super Curcuit wasn't too shabby either. I never really liked Mario Kart 64 as much as I do those three. Mario Kart DD is on the bottom of my list.

Has gaming got better since you started playing?
Strange Cookie replied to tapedeck's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I don't think gaming has changed as much as I have. Allow me to explain: I started gaming at a fairly young age, and it really kicked off with the NES. The Golden Age of Gaming for me was the SNES-era. Not because the games were better then (revisiting some 'classics' make me wonder how I put up), but because I was at an age where it still had something magical. Back then the power of a console was measured by one simple thing: bits. A console was defined wheter it 'was' 8 or 16-bits. These days, it's polygons, shaders, anti-aliasing, dynamic lightning, multi-processing, after-processing filters and all that jazz. And let's not forget about the rise or the online-gaming. So, if I let my gut talk, than I think gaming was better in the early days. But my rational mind says: no, you simply experienced and looked at it in a different way back then. In the end, no matter how technology changes, there will always be crappy games around. So I think it hasn't really gotten better or worse. It simply changed. -
Nope, they are more like Godfather's. It doesn't have the camera control of Scarface. I find the camera control of Scareface better, but it might not be ideal for this game. Of the top of my head, so they might not be completely accurate: Wiimote: Shake: punch with right fist A - run. Press rapidly to sprint B - use item/weapon D-pad left/right - camera control (or context sensitive when lock on to someone) D-pad up - zoom (handy for manual aiming with the slingshot, etc. Uses motion controls. Think CoD3 with fixes gun. Sometimes confusing, as you can't point too far 'of-screen', but there's no on-screen moving reticle) D-pad down - jump -/+ - scroll through items/weapons 1/2 - map/objectives Nunchuk: Shake: punch with left fist Stick: walk around C: lock on person Z: action / grab while locked on Apart from that, there are several motion controls for humiliations, like wedgies, and plenty more techniques. The controls are rather deep, but as always, it's a matter of preference. Some will like traditional controls better. I never buy online. Stores have never failed me (well, apart from Gottlieb Pinball Classics), and there are a lot of stores who don't keep street dates. When a game comes out on Friday, it's not uncommon here to see the game on shelves around tuesday/wednesday.
-
I bought it yesterday, and I found it a lot of fun. The controls do take some getting used to, though. The fighting (e.g. boxing) isn't as responsive as the Godfather's, but it works just fine. Tha graphics are nice, but nothing groundbreaking. It has an unusual crisp EDTV-picture, though. But that just might be all in my mind. I've never played the PS2 or 360-version, so can't compare as to how it plays with a traditional controller (though it's not hard to imagine). But the Wii-controls work just fine.
-
I can live with this. This, I find harder to swollow. It feels... slower? Changed for the casual player?
-
All too true. Yup, I live in Belgium, and it's all bundles as far as the eye can see. Curses. One one hand, I don't have a Wii Zapper, so a gun would come in handy. But on the other hand, if the game would be priced at +- €30, I could have Ghost Squad + Wii Zapper (not a cheap knock-off) + Link's Crossbow Training for the same price. And what if you already have a Wii Zapper? Puzzling... I smell an easy moneymaking scheme...
-
I'm really thinking about buying this, but... The problem is that the only copies here on sale are bundled with a cheap Wii Zapper ripoff (Ghost Squad Gun. Such originality!), and is priced at a hefty €60! Ka-tching! It's a 'limited edition', but what good is that if there isn't any other edition? Maybe it's just a local thing, though. Do any of you have standalone copies?

The Ngamer review is very favourable, but the censorship really bothers me. I'm not all for blood 'n gore, and I quite like the rain of coins (it makes no sense = me like!), but the death scenes are ridiculous. I don't know if this particular one has been posted yet, but it takes the cake: Death Scene comparison: Destroyman

Anyways, this is a great stress-relief-thread. :p And no, NoE isn't located in the Seventh Gate of Hell (just had to get that frustration of my chest), but it's just frustrating to be a Nintendo fan in Europe. I own both a 360 and PS3, and I never had such feelings towards their European HQ. I just get the feeling Nintendo Europe just doesn't care. Still, there is worse... I pity the gamers in Australia! Where us Europeans feel like we're being Nintendo's least favourite son, Australians are treated like Nintendo's least favourite son's dirty wornout underpants.
-
Hold on a sec. We apologise to NoE? NoE better apologise to us! Sure, they give us a rather early Mario kart, but does that excuse all the other screwups? Let's have a 'best of': A late Super Paper Mario A late Trauma Center A late Battalion Wars 2 A nonexisting WarioWare Twisted! (No, the mercury is no excuse. They had alternatives, but couldn't be bothered) Still no Brawl date. A star-for-points system that fails half of the time. 50Hz games on VC? No more heroes delayed... again... and censored... OK, they can't be blamed for that last one, though. And those are just the things on top of my head. The only thing they've done us a favour with, is releasing Sin & Punishment on the VC. Those European delays are worse than multiplatformgames on PS3! PS3!!
-
And to think the game actually breaks the forth wall at some points and someone says in a selfreferencing way: "What if the game gets delayed? You don't want this to be No More Heroes Forever, do you?" Oh, the irony...
