  1. Well, truth be told, I'm not that eager. Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to Brawl, but it's not a Must-Have-Now-situation. I've got plenty of games to play now as it is. Brawl will come my way. Eventually.
  2. Hmmm, have to choose Hellfire's and ...'s side here. I never had problems like this. It all works fine and dandy for me, from MP3 to Red Steel, Eledees or any other game that uses that technique. *touches wood* It's all in the wrist.
  3. Well, technically, you can do that offline. Just race against eacht other, and at the rules-menu, choose "CPU-opponents: off" and "Nr. of races: 4". You can choose the courses, or let them play in order. So while it's no 'real' cup, it's technically the same. You can even make your own cup! You can even battle without CPU-opponents. I've been playing face-to-face with my girlie in a 10-race-match, all random. Just her and me, mano-o-womano.
  4. Spoilsport. Anyhoo, had my first two-player-game this weekend. Ah, just like in the arcade! Just her and me, two guns, lots of bullets and even more zombies.
  5. Well, if playing online has proved one point, it's that I'm pretty the average Joe. Never first, never last, always somewhere in the middle. But, hotdamn, is it fun! I guess I've been playing with the wheel too much. It now feels odd to go back to an analogue stick. Years of training, down the drain. Thank you, Nintendo. Loving the music, by the way! And a little something for the Dutch-speaking gamers here: in the intro, when Mario and Luigi are 'rubbing shoulders' and Mario speeds from right to left across the screen, yelling "Let's-a go!", doesn't it seems he's screaming "Sukkel!" to Luigi? I know it's all just in my (sick) imagination, but ever since my girlfriend pointed that out, it's all I can hear. Then again, When I kill an enemy in No More Heroes, I could swear they yell "Comb your hair!"
  6. EDIT: Hellfire, you beat me to it. That was too hard to resist.
  7. Not when people can play Mario Kart, they don't. It is terribly addictive. The last time I was so hooked on a Mario Kart-game was the original Super Mario Kart. Personally, I think it's good ol' Mario Kart. The graphics are good. It oozes charm (moreso than MK-DD), but it won't set you tele alight. It's good, nothing more or less. A butterysmooth 60fps, though! Can't check right now for full-widescreen. Nunchuck works very well: my second favourite control option actually (first being wheel): A: accelerate B: hop'n slide Z: item C: look behind Swing Wii-remote: stunts and wheelie with bikes. I prefer the nunchuk rather than Classic Controller or GC-pad, but that's an opinion that's bound to be trashed soon. Anyhoo, a little tour d'histoire about the degeneration of MK-boxarts. Super Mario Kart: classic and charming Mario Kart 64: looks speedy! Mario Kart Super Circuit: basic, but it has colour Mario Kart DD: not that bad, but feels tame compared to e.g. MK64 Mario Kart DS: forgot the background Mario Kart Wii: forgot the karts
  8. Agreed! I don't know where all that bad feedback regarding the wheel-controls are coming from, but it kicks royal a§§. I've tried both the Nunchuck- and wheel configuration, and find them both awesome. Hell, I just bought a second wheel (BigBen - €9.99 - not as nice as the MK-wheel, but close enough) so my girlfriend and I can play together with the wheels! Using a Wiimote without shell is a bit clumbersome. The bikes are indeed a great addition, far greater than expected. It's not that different, but it feels different enough. Yes, Ive been wondering about that update too. I accepted the update, as I don't have a freeloader so am in no risk, but there doesn't seem to have changed anything (on the surface atleast). Perhaps laying the foundation of the MK-channel or something. So I can't be sure it blocks out the Freeloader. For the time being my verdict is: unlikely. But I've been wrong before...
  9. I know how you feel. I felt the same about DD. In my opinion, it's not just better than Double Dash, but very likely one of the best, if not the best Mario Kart around. I've had my doubts about this one. I'm happy I was wrong. Finished 50cc yesterday, and had a ball! Now, onto faster lanes and the retro-cups!
  10. Errrr... Don't want to repeat myself, it's was already confirmed yesterday afternoon by the very same site to be an April Fool. Translation in a nutshell: "By looking at the date, we could have known. But on the other hand, with so many rumours and announcements circulating the web every day, we didn't want to deprive you from small, yet potentially big news. Where we're going with this? Planet-Nintendo fell for an April Fool.... hihi hoho. It's about the announcement of a new chapter in the F-Zero franchise. Our editor in question has ofcourse been held accountable and has been condemned to cleaning the toilets. So for the time being, Cpt. Falcon stays in the garage, and we are an experience richer. :-)" My German is a bit rusty, so I took some liberties (not with the toilet-thing, mind), but it's more or less what they are saying. Maybe replace that newsitem with something else? *cough*EU GHIII disc replacement registration starts*cough*
  11. Even better: they admitted it themselves it isn't true. Like Dante said, they indeed fell for an April Fool. That'll teach me not to scoop deeper in that site... Atleast they have the guts to admit their mistake, so no harm done. Weapon-free F-Zero ahoy! For now...
  12. Sweet banana! I must admit, I'm mighty impressed with the wheel-controls. After ExciteTruck, I thought motion-controlled racing was all just a dream in the end, but this game plays mighty nice! I've even tried it without the wheel, and even that's not too shabby. but the wheel is beter than I had dared to expect! The nunchuk-setup is more precise, but the wheel is so much more fun, ans still spectacularly accurate. The Classic Controller and GC aren't bad, but I prefer the two others for some reason. It looks the part too! Nothing spectacular, but not ugly either. The music is very good! It's second only to Super Curcuit's! I even like the bikes. The bikes! In Mario Kart! I like! The world must come to an end or something soon. I'll die a crazy man. Only two gripes up till now: The boxart... I've seen it in shots, but... I... argh, I think it looks so lame! It's so sterile, so white! It doesn't exactly scream "Funfunfun" at you, does it? Where's my trophyspewing flying fish! It's not going to be a classic, but it's far from as bad as some (including I) had feared. Thank you, Nintendo! Now get to work on some new IP's.
  13. OBJECTION! This statement clearly reveals the contradiction! F-Zero is indeed great. That's why I hope this isn't true. Then again, I've been wong before, so let's just wait 'n see. Still...
  14. Let's hope this is to stay a rumor forever... F-Zero with weapons? That's like giving Mario a shotgun. Sure, F-Zero is edgy and gritty, and you can slam your opponent off the edge to it's crashing doom, but weapons? It's first and foremost a pure racing game! Then again, if someone ever told me that Starfox would and up as a mediocre 3rd-person-shooter (made by Namco or not), I'd have laughed...
  15. Hmmm, funny the exchange action started up shortly after the details of Rock Band Wii were spilled. A cunning strategy of turning their cock-up in the ace-up-their-sleeve and redirect the attention again to GHIII, or just coincidence? Probably the latter, but what's this world without a little bit paranoia?
  16. EU replacement disc registration ahoy!
  17. When it comes to general gaming, I buy Edge and Games. The odd Retro too. For Nintendo-specific publication, I read NGamer. Their opinions are trustworthy (Most of the time. Red Steel 91%? ) and it's just damn funny. They have excellent features, and the mag is just... rich! It's something you can really read, and has lots of content. I used to buy N-revolution, but while the first issues were excellent, easily surpassing NGamer, it suddenly went downhill very fast and very bad. The feature are uninteresting (reads like a copy-paste from some forum, really), the reviews are not very informative and very late, and it's ... well, boring, really. A shame, because I really loved the first issues. It hit all the right spots. But they've taken away everything that made N-rev se special to begin with. It feels nowhere as professional or fun as it used to be. Official Nintendo Magazine... Hmm, that's a hit-and-miss. Some issues are really good, some are good for coloured toiletpaper. And some things are really redundant and plain stupid. The Ask Nintendo-section! Q: Will game X come to VC one day? A: Check regulary for exciting updates and surprises! Next Q: Will you create new channels or update the older ones? A: Check regulary for exciting updates and surprises! Next Q: How exactly are the channels funded? A: Check regulary for exciting updates and surprises! Argh! I kid you not! If they don't bother to give a sensible answer, begone with the section! Yes, David Gosen has left a legacy at NoE...
  18. At the moment, I've only got one (retorical, because nobody really knows the aswer) question on my mind regarding VC: Where. Is. My. Axelay? This excellent shooter has been released in US and Australia more than half a year ago! What's taking them so long?
  19. I really love HotD, but of those two, I'd recommend RE:UC more. But if possible, get both. They are very different to justify both purchases. I'd even be happy with a DC-emulator, so that Wii can read DC-discs. If there is one thing IMO that would make the Wii the ultimate gaming machine, it would be DC-backward compatibility. SNES and DC-classics, in one machine? Thank you, sir!
  20. Bumpidybump! *sigh* Still no confirmed Euro release for this one? I'm craving for a game like this! If we don't get this, I want, nay, demand Pocky & Rocky for VC! By the way, it's called Heavenly Guard now, and is due for Wii in North America for sometime is 2008. US PS2 boxart
  21. Hmm, looks more promising than I had dare to think. The force is stro... No! Must... resist... clichés! Still it's a long way between what's written on paper and to make it work. It certainly looks the part, but I want to see it moving. Ah, we truely are the generation spoiled by the net. I'll be keeping a close eye on this one.
  22. And suffer the wrath of thousands of disappointed Euro-gamers? It'd be the end of N-Europe! The staff would be skinned alive, and that would be the merciful way out. Nah, I like this one better. It's funny, and doesn't create false expectation, and therefore, disappointment. Good job! Pats on backs, everyone!
  23. The normal size of any DVD, so about 12 cm in diameter. ... Yes, that is a very bad 'joke'. April 1st is messing with my head. Anyhoo, it mostly depends on how you play the game. If you strive on getting the rankings, you skip through it a lot faster than when you take your time, search for shirts, do a couple sidemission, etc. I haven't completed it yet, but the mayority seems to do it in about 10 Ã 15 hours. And from the look of it, it'll take me about the same time. But remember: you can do it much faster if you choose to.
  24. Gosen... smached... Gosen... spanked... Gosen... generally hurt... That's... so... awesome...
  25. This (Dutch) site has June 25th (2008, though that is speculation on my part) as a release date. I highly doubt this is trustworthy, but hey, a European Nintendogamer can dream, right? SSBB on June 25th? EDIT: There seem to be as much release dates as there are sites. Guess we'll have to wait for NoE to wake up. April 30th June 6th There's plenty to keep me busy until it gets released... eventually. I'd rather have it sooner than later, but for me the hype is settling down.
