    I actually kinda like it...

And what other colour would you suggest a Mario style to have?

Oh no, the colours absolutely fit Mario. But that doesn't mean I still find it awful. Maybe if the Joy-Con buttons would be yellow or blue it would be better.

This year the Pokémon brand is celebrating its 25th anniversary. I'm sure there will be plenty of news to share about this to warrant a topic of its own! I hope we will see some new games, but it would be nice to see some love for the older titles outside Red/Blue as well.

The official anniversary website can be found here: https://25.pokemon.com/en-gb

For now, a new overview video was posted which looks awfully cute:

Next to that, Katy Perry is somehow involved:

It happens every now and then. There's a few Infamous "standalone expansions", Far Cry did one once, Nintendo did it with New Super Luigi U was another example.

It's not a standard practice, I just think it would fit in with how Nintendo like to test out crazy ideas every now and then.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna the Golden Country also spring into mind.

Is this standard practise with other companies or just something you would demand of Nintendo in 2021? Like, I never considered--or saw anyone--asking for Bowser's Minions to be added to the 3DS eShop as its own game. Or any other bonuses that came with previous Mario ports and remasters, for that matter. Nowadays it seems to be the usual practise for them to add a bonus mode to a Mario re-release based on their past form--who's up for owning Mario Bros. arcade again?

I can only imagine they do this to give people an incentive to double-dip. Or maybe to give the creative team he chance to do something out-of-the-box for a change.

  4. I hope that all the upcoming anniversaries get a bit of attention, and not just Zelda. There are too many IPs not getting any attention anymore, and I hope they right that wrong this year. Stuff like F-Zero, Star Fox, Wario, you know the list. :p I'm especially hoping for something Metroid this year, it won't be MP4 but maybe the long-awaited Prime Trilogy HD or a new 2.5 Metroid would be good.

Further a new console added to the Nintendo Switch Online service would be nice. Be it Game Boy or N64 or something else, just show that you can look past the NES/SNES.

To be honest for the rest I still have plenty to play on my Switch, and with both Monster Hunter Rise and Mario 3D World coming up my first months are filled. I would like a proper new multiplayer title though to rekindle that play-together spirit here. Something like Mario Kart 9, Splatoon 3 or something else entirely (surprise us!) I wouldn't say no to.

Fired up World myself this evening just to prat about in Astera, almost feel like I'm not quite ready to give up on World yet. Also I can't quite place it but have they tinkered with the camera perspective to make World seem bigger? The whole world just looks so much bigger than Rise, again perhaps the graphical fidelity plays a part but it looks like alot more sky on show on in World. Or perhaps I'm seeing things that aren't there...🤷‍♂️

I read a preview where they were arguing that it is due to the option to play handheld. On the 3DS, the camera was even more zoomed in, needed to show plenty of the monster on the smaller screen. With World being a console/PC game, they could zoom out more as the player would be using a big screen anyway. And Rise's camera sits somewhere in between.

  6. Especially in low rank I like to try out a lot of different weapons. The only one that never really clicked is the Great Sword, and I'm not a big fan of the Gun Lance and Charge Blade. Higher up I usually use Lance, Switch Axe or Hammer.

I tried the Hammer in the demo but it feels slower than in Generations! But reading that the Horn feels faster and doesn't use the notes anymore makes me want to try that again for multiplayer. Also feel like I should give ranged a proper go so maybe go for a Bow. And offline it'll probably be Lance and Switch Axe.

  7. I don't know how it is in Germany, but here in Netherlands there is quite a big second-hand market for musical instruments and accessories. I've bought a couple of pedals for my bass that way, through Facebook groups. May be interested to look into, maybe you can pick up a secondhand pedal or amp that way for a fair price.

My experience is musicians love to upgrade so often the stuff offered second-hand is still in good shape. Of course, always ask for photos or if you can try it out (although that last thing may be a bit harder in this day and age).

In other news, we've decided to reinstate our band after a three year hiatus. Can't wait to start working on original music again. I have another band but that is covers (although we give them a personal twist), but nothing beats making original content. Two concepts are done, as far as that's possible in this remote situation. Hope we can get a proper rehearsal in soon but that may be a while due to Covid.

  8. Discord as a service works great, but the only problem I have with combining it with the Switch is that you can't mix game audio with voice chat. I always play games with audio so I feel like I'm missing out when I'm not able to do that.

  9. This game looks better and better. Seeing some familiar monsters like Khezu and Arzuros up close makes it apparent how much of a visual upgrade this is from MHGU.

I wonder though, why do they call it wyvern riding while he is not even riding a wyvern in that Hunting 101 video thumb?

  10. I finished the second season of the Dutch/Belgian crime series Undercover. Still pretty enjoyable, although the first season was better in regards to setting and personas.

Yesterday I started a new series. But first of all, I'm not a big Netflix user so picking out a new series is usually quite the struggle. There is just so much coming out, and what bothers me a bit about this quantity over quality is that you never know if a series is going to take of. Plenty of series just ended after one or two seasons with open ends but are canned due to not having the proper viewing numbers. Series that are completed (usually the non-Netflix originals) are not fully on the service or disappear after a while. I checked my wishlist and quite a few of my picks (mostly movies btw) are gone. Guess that's the downside of the splintered streaming services.

But, I watched the first two episodes of Alice in Borderland, a Japanese series about a bunch of people winding up in a parallel version of Tokyo were you have to play quite deadly games to survive. It gave me some serious The World Ends With You vibes due to the setting, and the concept is a bit similar to Batoru Rowaiaru/The Hunger Games. So far I'm liking it.

  11. Basically when you play during the event period (from Friday 8th of January 8:00 CET until Tuesday 12th of January 07:59 CET) you score points by playing. The higher you end the more points you get. If you collect 100 points you get to keep the theme. A Tetris Maximus 1st place immediately gives you 100 points, but you can also play multiple games to accumulate them.

  12. Cool, I was recently thinking it would nice to progress through a game together again (basically @nekunando going through Snake Pass and the various reactions on it). So glad to see you guys taking the initiative!

I checked my Epic Store freebie library and I actually have quite a few titles there from this list. I'm desperate to play Inside as I loved Limbo but never got around to playing Inside. However, I'm also curious to see how different people would experience a walking simulator; a genre I haven't played much myself. So I'm voting either Gone Home or What Remains of Edith Finch. Guess I have to pick one so let's go with Gone Home

  13. I've been revisiting some of my older Switch games during my week off, because I couldn't really settle on a big game and wasn't in the mood to continue Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition. So first I got back to Breath of the Wild. I was surprised by the things I still could do! A while back I got the DLC and did the first two parts of Trial of the Sword plus the fifth Divine Beast. So now I started by getting a bunch of the EX treasures. I was also sitting at around 97 shrines but I found a couple more so now I'm at 103. Found plenty of Koroks, and I did a couple of normal sidequests but to be honest they are quite dull. Will try to go for all shrines though, because it's great to return to this world again.

Also I never did any of the post-game in Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu. So first task was getting Mewtwo which was a matter of poisoning him with Toxic and throwing about 50 Ultra Balls at him. Next stop will be to get the Mega Evolutions and complete the Pokédex. It's interesting to go back to this after Pokémon Sword. The Go-style capturing is still pretty fun, but it's just silly you need it for the XP as well so now my box is filling up with dozens of duplicates. Still, it's a very charming game.

Also a friend lend me his copy of Super Mario Party, so I've been playing that a little bit with the misses. She's not much of a gamer but party games she can enjoy from time to time. We've done the River Survival once, one of the 2vs2 boards and one of the regular boards. So far River Survival is our favourite, as it keeps things at least a bit up to speed without the need to wait for other players to roll. The rest is pretty straightforward Mario Party I guess.

  14. Thanks! I'm guessing the G502 is pretty popular as it's sold-out everywhere. It's also a bit above the price I was going to spend.

Currently I'm looking at the Steelseries Apex 3 and the Steelseries Rival 3. The keyboard is getting good reviews and the only thing that it's lacking is per-key RGB, but it does have 10 zones RGB. The mouse is pretty straightforward. I prefer symmetrical mice, and I never really felt the need for a lot of extra buttons. Still, I may spend a bit more for a better equipped mouse. But this set right now would cost me about €100 which is about what I was planning on spending.

  15. Right, so I've busted another mouse (to be fair this one has lasted quite long), so I'm looking to replace it. My keyboard is still okay-ish but I think I should just get a new set because who doesn't want a matching keyboard and mouse? Requirements are wired, preferably RGB colour LEDs.

The set I had now was a pretty cheap set from Cooler Master but it was pretty good. But I don't mind spending a bit more now. Any recommendations?
