My best female friends all love games. /Computer Games Tech student

Eh, I guess we just disagree. Regardless, I think Nintendo are just showing that they plan to treat Europe like shit for this generation too. I have to say, this is the same case with the DS (we wait months) but at least the DS gets a steady stream of games a few months later than the USA. With the Wii, however, it feels like they're just stockpiling good games for no reason at all. It's too late to "wait for a gap to release them", the time is now!! Consumers are complaining there are no games for the Wii, and while this is the norm after a console launch, there are no firm (or even vague) dates for any Wii games in Europe after the middle of April! This is ridiculous and frankly I'm losing patience. I'll keep my Wii because there are some games that will hopefully come out before 2010 that I want, but I certainly won't be recommending it as heartily to customers where I work as I was two months ago.

I'm well aware that Trauma Center is a 3rd party title thankyouverymuch, but that still doesn't excuse Nintendo. They should be putting pressure on Atlus to get the game out over here - the mind boggles as to why they haven't since Trauma Center was a fairly big hit on the DS over here. Nintendo should be making a concerted effort to get all the AAA Wii titles out here that have been released elsewhere. This may just be Trauma Center (and to a lesser extent Elebits?) but gamers need games.

I know this has been mentioned once already but just in case people don't know, ExciteTruck is only £19.99 at Gamestation until Thursday this week. Random special offer, hopefully the company starts doing this with other Wii titles - but I can only assume they bought in tons of copies and are having trouble shifting them.

Customers where I work are already beginning to comment that there are "no games for the Wii". It doesn't matter if there will be lots more titles by Xmas, Nintendo need to get games out here that have been out for months in other territories. Waiting this long for Trauma Center and Eledees is ridiculous, especially when lots of Nintendo fans in EU really want TC and are starting to lose faith that anything has changed at Nintendo at all. I know have. Super Paper Mario - coming to EU November 2007, if we bend over and supply the lube ourselves of course.

I am salivating so much over this game, right now I'm looking forward to this more than any other Wii game. Shame we'll probably get in September, and probably a limited release that is really hard to find by Xmas.

Set Nintendo Europe website as you home page.
Kazzahdrane replied to Hal_9Million's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Had it as my homepage for over a year, for this very reason! -
No offense to some of the people here, but it really seems like some Nintendo fans live in a little bubble of their own. "Nintendo doesn't have much online gaming so obviously people don't care about online gaming." Sorry guys, but Xbox Live is huge and even when you have to pay for it the number of people playing online is massive. Worms is out on XBLA tomorrow - a great reason to start playing over Live even for casual gamers. With the exception of the Wii, consoles and games are getting so expensive that there aren't very many "casual" gamers playing them. People really have to be into a hobby to spend the sorts of money a 360/PS3 + some games cost. Perhaps the casual gamers Nintendo are trying to attract don't really think about online features right away, but the serious gamers have played the competition and won't give the Wii the grassroots support it needs when the online service is practically nonexistent. The VC doesn't count imo, no reason why Nintendo couldn't release Wii discs with a number of retro titles on them and box them up for stores. Much less convenient but online isn't the only way Nintendo could get these games to customers - whereas playing games against people on the other side of the world is a great reason for online functionality.

Despite some poor 3D games in recent years (Secret Rings notwithstanding), Sonic is still a big icon in the gaming world, especially for people who haven't played games since the 16 bit generation. These are the people who Nintendo are trying to get back into the hobby, and so Sonic in a game might help them feel at home. Plus a lot of people started their gaming with the original Sonic games so there's still a lot of Sonic love out there. Personally, I'd rather have him in SSBB than not in it, unless it was a choice between him and a character I prefer.

Am I crap at Wii Sports Tennis or its supposed to be like that?
Kazzahdrane replied to Everblue's topic in Nintendo Gaming
+3 respect points for reminding me what this thread was actually meant to be about! Yeah, Wii Sports Tennis isn't 100% accurate but it's 99% pure undiliuted FUN. Great with friends! -
I work in games retail, and even though admittedly the customers I deal with could be classed as "hardcore" because they shop in a specialist games store, these are the very people who make or break a console. Core gamers are very outspoken about their pastime and it's their word-of-mouth advertising that helps a new console to get public recognition (especially if it doesn't have the word "Playstation" in its name). The gamers I serve are very into online gaming, certainly on the 360 and that's one of the features you constantly hear people championing - the community feel and good fun of Xbox Live. Nintendo don't need a service as good as Live, but they need to make their online service a good one for the many many casual gamers for whom the Wii will be their first online gaming experience. Convincing them that the Wii's online functions are great will go a long way to ensuring brand loyalty even past this generation.

I think DKC might be first, or at least a close second.
-
It's nothing to do with the speed of the Wii servers, it's the fact that the Wii can't cache the web pages, unlike Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade. The difference in usability between the two services is like night and day, Nintendo really need to improve the online experience by the time online games start appearing over here.

Want them all apart from BW2, but Metroid Prime 3 is the game that convinced me to buy a Wii back at launch so that's the one I voted for.

Yeah, we at Gamestation are personally pretty annoyed that our company keeps making us take pre-orders for the Wii over 2 months after launch. We'd much rather just sell the things when they come into store (which has slowed down recently as others have said). However, I disagree about your PS3 comment. Despite loads of people asking us about it for months I don't think we'll have reached anywhere near the number of pre-orders as we had for the Wii at launch by March 23rd. I think people are just really put off by the price, and also I suspect a lot of people assume they will be very hard to get and so we won't get them one for launch - fact is, the company are getting more PS3s for launch than they got Wiis, a lot more. My manager is talking about making up a £425 Xbox 360 bundle with a bunch of games (maybe a HD-DVD drive) to offer around the PS3 launch just to wind up the Sony fanboys, sounds like a good laugh to me.

What did people who watched it think of the SMB Hidden Bananas video? Just asking since I know the guy who made it.

Just because a game's not exclusive to a system doesn't mean it's bad. Xbox 360 is the best platform to play a lot of 2006's releases. Am I happy with my Wii? If it wasn't for Zelda I would be VERY disappointed. Where the hell are all the games? The "must-have toy" thing is only going to last so long before the general public wonder why there aren't any games being released for the system. Knowing that a few big titles are due "sometime this year" isn't enough, not when the other platforms have a number of big titles this year from 3rd parties are well as 1st. Nintendo need to get their asses in gear and get more teams working on games, and get more 3rd parties making games for the console (even if they are multiplatform). I haven't had my Wii turned on for a couple of weeks - just waiting for something good to come out for the little box.

Zelda on 40" HDTV with Official Component Cables
Kazzahdrane replied to Kazzahdrane's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Yeah, R7 LE40R73BD to be exact. I've tried using the "game mode" (brightness and contrast differences seem to be all it does) and lowering the sharpness does help a bit but it's still quite noticable. I guess it's just a combination of scaling it up to a big size and sitting quite close to the TV Hopefully proper Wii games (not GC ports) will look better. -
Hi all, I know there are already video display threads where this sort of thing is mentioned but most people don't seem to have Nintendo's component cables yet. So, today I got my 40" Samsung HDTV delivered - very nice. Sadly, even when using the right cables and setting the Wii options to the EDTV/HDTV setting, Zelda looks pretty bad. Like worse than when it was running on a 20" SDTV with composite cables. Have I missed something? I know I should be getting the benefits of progressive scan but I'm not sure I am. Is that something I would need to enable on my TV settings or is it used automatically if you have the component cables with a progressive scan-supported game such as Zelda? Any help would be much appreciated, cheers.

Exactly what I bought, and they're running out pretty damn fast. I figured they'd be crap but still last a little while and £1 for 15 is pretty great. However, a few (3/4) hours of Zelda is running a pair right down to needing replaced. I think a charger and a few rechargable batteries is the way to go

When is Gamestation next getting Wii stock?
Kazzahdrane replied to Ant-Shimmin's topic in Nintendo Gaming
*ORACLE OF GAMESTATION SPEAKS* I hear you brother, but AFAIK it's not just Gamestation at fault. In my store we were told we'd be getting a delivery of Wii units at the end of last week, so were taking orders but thankfully telling customers that it wasn't guaranteed, just that they had a good chance of getting a machine from the delivery (we only had about 10 pre-orders left to fulfil by Xmas Eve). So far, no delivery. And I believe the manager hasn't been told when the machines will be coming in, just that we are getting a delivery "soon". We're a bit pissed off, but people are still panic buying (why when Xmas has passed???) and paying for £420 bundles at the GAME over the road. /ORACLE On a related note - anyone else know of their local GAME store doing this sort of thing? Even pre-order customers who got a machine for launch were being forced to take "bundles", the cheapest being £420 (with of course no discount in there - it was all shelf price stuff added up to the value of £420 which is outrageous). A friend's girlfriend argued with the staff for over 30 minutes before they let her buy the machine she'd pre-ordered in September for £179.99 and leave the store with just that. However, so as to show that I'm not just stirring up hate against the competition - I pre-ordered a Wii component cable from GAME's website this morning and by the time I got home from work it had been despatched. I understand I just got lucky as my friend who works in another GAME in town has been waiting weeks for his and got his despatched today too, but nonetheless I am very happy with their online service right now - a shame Gamestation's website is absolutely dire. -
My store has 250+ pre-orders to fulfil, 40 is nothing! As for Gamestation's £240 deal, don't expect that to go away any time soon. We had the same DS Lite deals (£109.99 with any game, for example) up for about 5 months after launch. Since none of the Wii deals right now specify which games you get I'd expect the company to keep the deals going for quite a while.

The Uk Wii First Impression Diary Thread
Kazzahdrane replied to ultrajamie's topic in Nintendo Gaming
First impressions: Damn the Wii-mote and nunchuk are tiny. I've got my Wii at home all set up, but since I don't have any games yet I've only played Wii Sports and made a Mii. Loaded up CoD3 for a bit but...well perhaps I had the remote sensitivity a bit too high. Plus sitting back from the TV wasn't great for WWII shooting, I kept leaning forward to get a closer view, even when zooming in. Hopefully I'll get Rayman and Zelda today! -
It's not a load of balls when you consider that they are sold pre-owned for £35, it's not like there's an evil massive markup. Gamecubes are just worth very little these days, which doesn't mean it's not a great little console

£20, boxed or not. That's trade, £15 cash.
