FIRE EMBLEM: A blockbuster made on a shoestring...
Japjer replied to Zechs Merquise's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Well yea, my Ike kind of was strong. At THE fight (don't feel like using spoiler tags :p) he already had strength & def maxed, the 2 most important stats for that fight. And i guess I'm not so invincible after all. Had my Ranulf die on the next map. I forgot to get him out of range of the bolganone-sage and he just HAD to change back to human form as well. @ fixed mode: I never really tried it, I like the randomness of it all. Soren with some actual strength is heaven And also, it makes the game more fun on new playthroughs. My Mia is extremely strong as is Astrid, and I feel i have a somewhat weaker boyd. My Rhys didn't lvl well either, but since he's maxed out and has Shade, it doesn't really matter. -

Yay!! I beat him!! My Ike was only lvl 13 or so at the beginning of the chapter. I dumped all my bonus exp on him, then let him kill half the enemies in the normal lvl. When he arrived he was lvl 18 3 aethers in row (though 1 actually missed..) and BAM, byebye mister! I wonder why I'm so behind with the exp, but not in strength. In the chapter I'm at now, there's pretty much no risk at all, everyone either dodges, takes no damage or has tons of hp. -

I don't think it's the one i meant. The one I was stuck in was a field battle where you start SE and the boss is in front of a little fort NW. I managed to do alright now, I sent both gatrie & taureono to the west to meet up with the swordmasters (who do no damage on them) and generals. gatrie was safe from the bolganone & meteor up north because of that. I did have a little trouble with the wyvern riders that entered on turn 3. Stefan alone doesn't cover it there, thankfully both Soren and Rhys have a physic staff and together they can heal pretty much anyone on the field. And yea, i used 3 healers as well, had Elincia do some smaller heals. It's too late for me to lvl up mist & ilyana now, but these 3 do alright. Rhys and Soren are actually my highest lvl chars It wasn't really my lack of healers, it was one of my units die in 1 turn. I made sure i put Ike up north now to lure the hordes of ranged chars (he has provoke). So i moved on to the next episode, the one inside the fort. Everything went great, Mia was able to clean out the entire left side by herself with help of the runesword (she didn't really need it, that woman dodges EVERYTHING). Boyd almost died though, I had him guard the door on the right side with all the laguz, only he had a killer axe equiped. He critted every.single.time. and all laguz could attack him. He dodged once & ended up with 2 hp :p So I was happy that everything worked out. -

It would help if they could promote like other units. In the earlier levels they just seem to hog exp and when you can finally lvl them up properly, they've become only mediocre units (with fire or wind/bow weaknesses...ouch!) I'm stuck on chapter 26 at the moment, partially because of that. I can get 19 characters there, but with ~10 enemies coming from one side and another 8 from the other side, one of my member always gets ganged up, of course including a critical. It's not even the weak characters that die, but with a combination of melee & ranged weapons, it doesn't matter how you position your team, one of your members always gets attacked like 4 times...hate it! Even had Muarim die once cause of a crit with a laguz bow...that's like a 4% chance! :( -

Watch out that you don't abuse her too much. She can practically clear entire lvls by herself, but your other teammates will miss out on the exp. I'm on another playthrough now myself, and while i tried to raise ilyana and tormod after that, i ended up using soren instead. I think he got lucky with the lvl ups, cause he's a better frontliner than most of my tanks (gatrie, boyd). He pretty much dodges everything and is one of the few who can actually double bosses. It's also alot easier to care for Soren as he's a main character as well. The same counts for titania, but i prefer raising characters myself (oscar/astrid combo): peace: . Going through hard mode at the moment, but aside from the first few turns of every episode, it really isn't that much tougher. There's so much more experience to get from the hordes of enemies, that you end up with 3 strong retaliation tanks fast enough (Boyd, Ike & Oscar with Titania as a bonus). -
What Games are you still needing to play?
Japjer replied to chrizkerr2's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Games i own but never really played that aren't complete rubbish (yes, i own universal theme park studios. no, i didn't buy it myself :p ) Metroid Prime - Never got past the first level. I liked the visuals and controls, but it just didn't work for me. Resident Evil Remake - Put it in my GC once. I didn't hate the game or anything, but i just never got around to playing it. I'm probably one of the few that didn't play Metriod Prime, but owns & played mario party 4, 5 AND 6! :p Oh yea, and i never finished the first baiten katos. I was nearing the end when you could do the sidequests, but i didn't pay attention to what the lady said. Never bothered looking up where i had to go & i couldn't possibly finish the game without those side-quests -
Then again, there's over 30 languages in Europe. The effort used to change the dialect in the American English version could be used to translate into another language instead. It's not like the swiss receive their special version of german/french/italian either. Of course the UK market is a much larger one, but the non-german/french/italian mainland european market is probably still bigger and they really don't care if Mario says cahn't or kehnt (how do you write that phonetically? lol).

I'd really love a Majora's Mask-like game on Wii. More emphasis on the side-quests and definately a Bomber's Notebook!

I'm really looking forward to this, so i started playing PoR again. I might even like this second playthrough more as the first one, as now i took the time to not overuse titania and get some others get some exp. What data from the saved game can be transferred to GoD? I forgot to get Sothe on this playthrough and iirc, he's the main character in one of the storylines. Edit: @ trailer: Aww, Ike really looks like his father now! Another Edit: Everyone seen in the video seems to be from PoR as well: Ike, Soren, Titania, Boyd, Sothe (the one who gets saved, right?) and ingame footage of Jill and Ilyana. But who's the pegasus knight? Could that be Elincia?

Just watched it, and since i actually started playing ToS again a week ago, it's all so familiar. I love it!

Made me lose a tourney match once. It doesn't happen that often though, just a small glitch it seems.

Go with a mix of playmakers & balanced players Save up on items, then wait till you end up with 2 players (including captains). Once you have a little free room with your captain, start charging for a megastrike and use the item DURING the charge, not before cause they would recover in time. You should be able to pull off a 6-goal megastrike. An easy way would be to use peach and photograph both diddy & whoever he has lef there. I actually had diddy using red card on my only 2 chars in the field...he didn't score!
-
Yes you can. It helps a bit in defense but attacking is much harder. It's still fun though.

From what i've experienced, charging does help even if the ball is white already. It seems the ball gets more of a curve if you charge even if it's only for a short time. Aside from that, assists from your own half seem to have a higher success rate as well. Maybe the goalie is in the wrong position, no clue about that. Now for intercepting those lobs. I've seen alot of people steal one not by tackling, but by actually doing a header. I've done it myself a couple of times, mostly by mistake though. What triggers it? One extra little trick: if noone has the ball, but you're close to the ball, try pressing A. Instead of switching characters, your char gets a small boost to the ball and instantly passes. I've noticed this with Boo alot, it could be something specific to him..not sure.

Lost the final to yoshi...0-1, so i'd have to do the entire cup again even though i won every other match with like 10-0 :(

Everything was fine yesterday, not a single disconnect. This weekend will probably be hell, after that it should be fine...i hope.

The servers are busy. Just be patient, trying a couple times can work as well. Don't worry, it's not your connection. EDIT: You can save & continue where you left off. There only seems to be one save file though.

There's a small update when you enter the game channel, i have no clue how it works though. The online is done pretty well, when you choose a ranked match, it takes about 10 sec to find someone, then it shows you the connection based on stars. 4 stars is the best you can get and the game will have no lags. I had a couple of 3 star-matches and there was some slowdown there, but you can accept or reject a match when they show you the connection. Ranked matches are a best-of-3, though the leaderboard counts every seperate win and awards points for every single match. And the game itsself? It's HARD! I had that with the waluigi challenge. The one where you have to score 3 goals within 30 seconds (+overtime), so you basically have to score em with a megastrike. I managed to do that a couple of times, even with 5 shots and orange accuracy and the alligator still stopped 3 of em :(

I got it today, tried some online and my assumption that i had any skills in mario games was so wrong. The first online game was awesome though, i didn't bother doing the single player and it had been around 5 years since i played sega soccer slam, so i didn't even know how to tackle...but neither did my opponent :D Luigi is becoming my main char more and more, mostly cause i like his music more than mario's (and about the music, Peach's last name is spears?) The super move is very balanced though, it's extremely hard to pull off at all. I've had plenty of matches without any super move, though if you do get one in the green, you can count on 1 goal at least. Orange is just mad, the only way to stop those is if you happen to be near it with your hands. I saw some interesting tactics as well. Plenty of players use the lob-pass till the ball is white and try to score with a normal shot. One team in particular was interesting, diddy & 3 toads. His main tactic was to reach the goalkeeper, jump over it and simply walk the ball in the goal. I doubt this'll be a cheap way to score though, since the goalie stopped him plenty of times and i won in the end with my 'normal' way of playing. My team: Luigi, Hammer bro, Toad, Boo. They're all good at passing, toad & boo both have alright skill kicks, and for the normal kicks there's the hammer bro. It's hard for me to get the hammer bro in a good position though. He's so slow that i have to pass for 5 seconds before he gets on the other half.
