Edit: UPDATE - I'll update this thread for general Pokémon trading. Once I know the details, I'll update this post. For now: Just add info on what game (and version) you have along with the rest. ################### Original post: For those who already know how to do it, just post the following: Then you have to (probably) reiterate this when you're actually about to trade, since you need to have exact timing.. Explained below. I thought this warrants it's own thread. Why do you want to trade? 1] To get the exclusive Pokémon from the other version if you only bought one version (like a normal person ), listed below: Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! exclusives (Alolan) Sandshrew / (Alolan) Sandslash Oddish / Gloom / @Vileplume2000 Mankey / Primeape Growlithe (Alolan) Grimer / (Alolan) Muk Scyther Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! exclusives Ekans / Arbok (Alolan) Vulpix / (Alolan) Ninetales (Alolan) Meowth / Alolan Persian Bellsprout / Weepinbell / Victreebell Koffing / Weezing Pinsir Note that the (Kanto) evolutions of Growlithe and Meowth are actually obtainable in the other versions. More on Alola forms below. 2] To evolve the following Pokémon: Kadrabra > Alakazam Machoke > Machamp (Alolan) Graveler > (Alolan) Golem Haunter > Gengar I found out you can't actually stop these evolution like you normally can (in case you want to trade them back and see the evolution for yourself). 3] To get the Pokémon you didn't choose. You can only get one of either: Omanyte or Kabuto Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan There are two instance in the game where you get a Pokémon, but have to choose between one or the other. You'll have to trade to get the other one. Omanyte and Kabuto can both evolve, keep that in mind. 4] To get Pokémon from the mobile game Pokémon Go if you can't or refuse to play that game. These include the Alola forms, although I'm googling this right now, and apparently most of them are included in-game. The exceptions are (like already noted above): Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! exclusives Alolan Sandshrew / Alolan Sandslash Alolan Grimer / Alolan Muk Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! exclusives Alolan Vulpix / Alolan Ninetales Alolan Meowth / Alolan Persian Then of course there are the two actually new Pokémon, introduced in Pokémon Go. Meltan Melmetal If you don't play the mobile game, then the only way to get them so far is to trade for them. Note that you can't evolve a Meltan into Melmetal in Pokémon: Let's Go!, you actually need to do this in a specific (and from what I've heard cumbersome) way in Pokémon Go itself. So without the mobile game, you'll need to trade for both. These last two particularly are a pain, so I hope they'll hand them out as mystery gifts in the future. How do you trade? The process is simple, too simple in fact, making it hard to actually set up trades with people you know. The benefit of it is that you can probably get most of what you want incredibly easily with random people. But the process is as follows: Go into the menu, and select communicate. Nearby for local and Far away for internet obviously. Then form a password by selecting 3 Pokémon icons. The other player has to do the same and match the password. Then you're matched (if the password matches), and then you both select a Pokémon to offer, then confirm. You can repeat this until you cancel the trade. That's it. It doesn't use your friendlist, and doesn't ask for anything else, increasing the chance you end up with random people instead. That's why the timing is important, you'll both need to send the same password at the same time for the biggest chance to actually end up with each other. Also, you are both identified by your character name, so keep that in mind. Fun with random people You can also try to get what you want from random people. Some tips: Just select 3 Pikachu icons. You'll end up with someone right away. You can mix it up with other icons from the top row (or even just totally random icons), if you want more trades with different people. You can see what your trade partner is currently selecting / offering, and vice versa. While you can't communicate what you want, you can let them know what you already have. It's useful to set your Pokébox sorting on first catched. Since your partner Pokémon will then be the first selection, your trade partner will immediately know what version of the game you have, and if it's any use to continue the trade. In my experience most people doing this will have completed the game (or are in late-game at the very least). A few of them were interested in the evolution trades, so keep Kadabras, Machamps, Golems and Haunters ready. Also just try any rarish Pokémon you don't want to use. I traded my Hitmonlee for a Hitmonchan in a random trade. I've also traded a couple of Alola exclusives.

More pathetic than usual since there is actually a hardcore game coming next year. Yeah, that's actually one of my minor gripes with the game. My fingers don't get sore, but I don't like playing with the one single joy-con.
-
I think so, bar the evolutions, so thanks! You're missing a Koffing I think.. I'll keep a look out for it. And capture a bunch more of the other exclusives. And get my own Kadabras and Haunters etc. Setting up a trade is a pain though. I was already thinking of creating a separate thread for it, and this just proves that's not a luxury.

The Helix, like mentioned in a earlier post, for nostalgic reasons. Couldn't read Japanese, so chose that one, but the other one is cooler.
-
Hmm, I can't stop the evolution, so you'll miss the animation. You'll get a Golem back.
-
I don't have any other exclusives yet I think.
-
Oh ehh sure. Same code.
-
Haha, you cancelled my Vulpix then? Ah let's try again, same code. What do you want?
-
What's your character name?
-
First of all, apprently you're getting character names. My character name is "Emily" (I name all my (female) characters after my favourite models). I got a sandshrew and growlith from Mark, still need that Oddish and others. Would like a Meltan if you have one, but others I need are Muks, Mankeys and Scythers (according to https://www.polygon.com/2018/11/15/18096952/pokemon-lets-go-pikachu-vs-eevee-what-to-buy ) Apparently Meowth is exclusive as well, so I can offer that one, or the Vulpix or Bellsprouts, or that one Ekans. Trying this in a few seconds: Diglett / Pidgeon / Caterpie
-
Yeah, wait a sec.. I'm also trying with @markderoos and finally got him. You need to have exact timing, as the codes are too simple. Standy-by..
-
Ah k, I set up a trade (I think). 3 Jigglypuffs. So I have Bellsprouts and Vulpiuxes, and the one Ekans on offer. Ehh make that Jugglypuff / Diglett / Ratata, I just got a randomer. Edit: and another randomer. Trading is a bit too easy haha. I'm trying the same.
-
Like I said, Meltan and the exclusives (and at a later point, a Haunter and Kadabra, after I've prepared two myself). Of the exclusives I'd like an oddish first I think.

I have plenty of Meowths. i have only one Ekan, but can catch some more if I remember where they are. Size preference?
-
I've read that's actually one of the version differences. In my game, I had another person (a woman if I recall correctly) do the exact opposite. I happened to have caught a bunch of Meowths anyway, so it was no problem. Yeah you moved your joy-con (edit: I mean your pokéball). It's a move they can do once in a while, I posted my (much cooler ) version in the other thread just now. And I Googled some details, apparently there are more moves like that. The happiness of your pokémon plays a factor apparently. So play with your pokémon a lot. I do. If you do it enough, you see that icon available. You can use it in the overworld, it will give you an item, or use it during the battle, like you've experienced (you can also use it when another pokémon is fighting, then it will get a boost). I like to save one for a boss fight. It's basically one free one hit kill. Edit: can't remember any explanation of it.

Yesterday and this morning I beat Misty (I want more Misty), did the stuff on the SS Anne, and beat Surge. Left it at that, as I'm not sure which way I want to go. I took the Diglett cave back to the beginning, but then @Glen-i suggested I'd go check the rock cave. Plus I can just head to the next town. So plenty of options. I did however, find out you can increase chances of "shinies" appearing, which are all the rage these days (I've never seen a shiny), by increasing your catch combo. So I caught 30 diglets in the cave.. Then one motherfucker escaped. Now I have 30 digletts. Who wants one? I also still want to trade for a Meltan and the Pikachu exclusives. Apart from Diglett, I've caught a bunch of Vulpixes and Bellsprouts (a few tiny / huge ones as well). So let me know.

@LazyBoy, sorry, I don't see that many "old" films. In fact this may be sacrilege, but I don't think I've seen any of his films. If you want more Jane Fonda to drool over however, I can heartily recommend Barbarella. I'm actually really curious to see what they've done with it. Business-wise I think it's genius.

I'm loving it. If anyone wants to co-op.. I'm a level 49 Necromancer currently in Act 2, just beat ehh some wizard. Game runs smooth. I'm a necromancer, so in addition to the enemies, I have my own army on screen. Works without a hitch.

Nintendoes what others don't. Anyway, looked up a video since I had no idea what this game was all about (aside from not having any fighting involved..). Enjoy: Yeah I'm not getting this.

Don't give @S.C.G any reason to start posting Fresh Prince gifs in this thread.

What's the other one? Anyway, you were complaining so much in the other thread, yet was still one of the first to actually play it, that I felt it was appropriate. Then that quote came up, and I knew I made the right choice. It was a sign. Anyway, speaking of names, since I only know one cool name for a dog, my adorable Eevee is called Cerberus. Since I have no clue about what Pokémon are actually good (well just a little from 20 years ago), I'll just use the ones I think look cool, and I'll keep Eevee in my party at all times for roleplay purposes. Edit: I can't remember my full party from 20 years ago, but I'm pretty sure it was Charizard, Kadabra, Mewtoo, I think Haunter, maybe Dragonite and / or Gyarados?

So I bought Let's go, Eevee! (that's why I'm bumping this particular thread) Having fun so far. Having terrible memory and not having played a Pokémon in 20 years does wonders for the nostalgia factor. It's almost perfect for me. Obviously I do get the criticism, and next year I hope to see more of what I've missed in the past 20 years, but this is definitely a perfect bridge game. Not totally sure about the wild pokemon / capturing situation.. On the one hand I like being able to avoid them and unnecessary fights, on the other hand they still get in the way sometimes, and there could be times where I miss the option to grind by fighting wild pokémon. But I still like collecting, training and evolving Pokémon and fighting trainers, and I love the style and the nostalgia. And the game is just god damn adorable. Haven't done a whole lot yet. Despite my memory, I actually remembered the idiot who wants you to deliver a package to Oak, and next time he shows up right outside of Pallet Town to thank you. I mean, if you made it all the way over here.. I defeated Brock yesterday, and this morning I went through that Mount Moon cave and fought Jessie & James. I chose the Helix fossil. I think the other one is cooler, but chose this one for Nostalgia reasons. Back in the day in Green, I chose this one because I couldn't (and still can't) read Japanese. Anyway.. After @Ugh first aid's shenanigans with the rival's name, I was trying to come up with something funny and / or appropriate myself. I think I nailed it. If any of you Pikachu players (or Eevee players of course) want to trade, let me know what I need to catch. I myself would like a Meltan from someone, seeing as I'll never get one myself.

What @Hero-of-Time said. But I love the name she's given to her rival!
