Would be up both. I should be on this evening.
  2. It's not a bug per se. The c-stick has always been a macro for direction + A. The difference now is that you can now charge smash attacks with the c-stick, so if you hold the c-stick in mid air it overrides the left stick's input. This means that you can't control aerial movement with the left stick while the c-stick is being used. From what I understand, changing the c-stick controls to "tilts" instead of smashes allows you to regain regular aerial control with left stick. The downside is that you can no longer c-stick smash on the ground. I do hope they patch it back to how it was in Melee and Brawl.
  3. I get to play Smash a lot on my morning and evening train journeys. I honestly think that most of the single player modes are very underwhelming, with the exception of one of my all-time favourite modes, the Home Run Contest. Here's my current record with Old Manondorf:

I would be up for the Raid as well if there's a space going. Alternatively I'm also free today and tomorrow if anyone fancies doing the Raid then. Also - bit of a stab in the dark - I'm currently doing the exotic bounty for the hand cannon Thorn. I'm at the last step where I need to kill Xyor the Unwed, which involves doing an Epic version of the Moon Strike. If anyone else is doing this bounty then please get in touch.
  7. Thanks for everything Haden. I credit you for bringing me into the league as I remember you sending countless PMs to get me signed up. The persistence paid off in the end! It's a shame to see you go. A few more seasons and I reckon the Legends would have got the title after many years in the wilderness. Nevertheless you'll still go down as one of the best managers in the league's history. One day I'll pass your 4 championships. You've always been the heart and soul of the league. We'll miss your season write-ups and wrestling gifs. A lot of us vets will have to step up to keep this place lively. It won't be easy filling your shoes though Haden. Hope you can still stick around the community and maybe post in the thread from time to time. Only one last thing to say... Haden... YOOOOUUUU'RRE FIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRREEEDD!
  8. I do understand the frustration. Some players - perhaps those used to PC gaming - have a genuine preference for aim assist to be disabled because it's what they're used to, and having it disabled puts them at a disadvantage against everyone else. Still, I don't necessarily think that you're more hardcore or leet for having it turned off. I'm pretty sure pro Halo or CoD players don't turn theirs off. Sort of reminds me of the old c-stick argument with Melee. "True players don't use the c-stick, the c-stick is for noobs" some of friends used to say back in the day.

I'll be available tonight from about 7 as well. I'm now level 28 and would be up for doing either the Nightfall Strike or the normal Raid. Don't think I'm ready for the Hard Raid just yet.
  10. It's hardly unbalanced if everyone has the option to turn it off and on. It affects everyone equally, you can't exactly complain just because you turned it off because "it's too easy" for you. My view is that aim assist in console FPSs is a good thing as it lowers the skill barrier for getting to grips with the basic shooting controls. It means there's more of a focus on tactics, teamwork, map positioning, etc, rather than a contest on who can shoot the straightest with finicky console controls.

Would be up for it. Eddage, Map and I did two attempts at the Nightfall Strike last night. Both times, we got to the final boss room with no problems, but died on the final boss. We did not have a great strategy to be honest - we would do the usual boss strategy of sticking together on one of the top platforms, but the problems would start when enemies would start spawning there as well. The biggest threats are the Psions who have Void armour and can OHKO you with their melee. I need to search Youtube for some strategies and see if there's an effective "safe" space to hide and whittle away at the boss.

Gonna say a massive thank you to @Sheikah for dragging my sorry level 26 ass through the Raid and generally for the fun weekend of gaming. Sheikah and I, plus Sheikah's friend and some randomers (who were not very good at following instructions!) started the Raid at 11pm Saturday and gave up final boss at around 4am. Our randomers weren't very good, and we spent a long time waiting for one of them to do the platforming section - Sheikah had to track back and walk him through it, he was that bad! Finally got to Atheon and after many many attempts gave up after people started leaving. I remember saying at the time that we would do it first try the next day and after recruiting LostMario and some good randomers we managed to beat him on the 3rd attempt. Didn't quite get the rewards I wanted - I only managed to snag the Raid gauntlets and the filter. Nonetheless, it was still very fun. Why isn't the rest of the game this varied? I'm now level 27 and aiming for 28 this week. Might be able to do the Raid tomorrow if there's room for me, but won't be able to stay up late. If not, I'd love to get back in the Raid action next weekend.

I'm getting close to level 26 now - would level 26 be high enough for doing the Raid? I'm getting very jealous of all you raiders and want in on the action.
  15. If you're going to play a lot online, my best advice would be to buy the one most of your friends own. You'll get pretty much the same experience playing FIFA on PS4 as you would on Xbox One - the key differentiator would be being able to play with mates in my view.
  16. For the second question - like Serebii said, anything will do, but there's a few things you should look for if you want to get the best out of a console: -Unless you're buying a small TV, get a 1080p set. It will allow you to play all games at their highest resolution. These are slowly starting to become the standard, but there's still a lot of 720p TVs being sold. In general, 720p TVs are marketed as "HD Ready" and 1080p TVs are marketed as "Full HD". Go Full HD for full happiness! -Digital TVs all suffer from something known as input lag or display lag. Basically, this means there's slight a delay between your button inputs and the TV display (it's noticeable if you've ever played Guitar Hero on a large TV). Most modern sets have a "Game Mode" which mitigates the input lag by turning off some of the video settings, but even in Game Mode some low-end TVs still have intolerable amounts of input lag. More info here. This isn't something you need to scientifically research, just make sure that you read reviews of whatever TV you're going to buy ensure that they are suitable for gaming. -Check out what connection ports the TV has. All current-gen consoles require HDMI. You may want to consider getting a TV with multiple HDMI ports if you're thinking of hooking up multiple devices. Or you might want to get a TV with multiple SCART or Composite ports for hooking up older systems. -Finally, a TV is not just for games. Do you watch Netflix? Think of getting a "smart" TV that you can hook up to the internet via an ethernet cable. Of course a lot of this depends on your budget. For comparison, about a year and a half ago I bought a 42" Panasonic Plasma for £500. As long as I look after it, it should last me for quite a few years at least.
  17. I just want something like Party Chat, which the 360 had way back in 2006 I think, so you can just chat to people regardless of what games each other is playing. It should have been fundamentally part of the Wii U OS. But you know, apart from the lack of voice chat, I was very impressed by this Direct. 8 player Smash!! Just think of the carnage! I realise it's not going to be very often that I'll have 7 other people around to play, but I've got to experience it at least once. Maybe we could do some kind of London N-E Smash meet.
  18. Yes, it is an achievement that I'm fiercely proud of. My legs are in so much pain today. I could barely get down the stairs. Definitely going to take a week off exercising.
  19. I just did my first ever half marathon, the Great Birmingham Run. Got a time of 2 hours 3 minutes which I am chuffed to bits over. I was looking dead set on getting under the two hour mark, but there was a great big ruddy hill to climb at around mile 11 which completely took the wind out of me. Still, going into the race I was expecting to run somewhere in the region of 2 hours 30, so to run it in nearly 2 hours is super awesome.
  20. As Peeps has said, the most effective way to develop youth is to play youth alongside older players. To quote Xpert: I also like to rotate youths in the same match if I can as I believe playing two youth players for 45 minutes each is more effective than playing one player for 90.

This game is starting to annoy me. I want to do the Raid, but I'm not a high enough level. I'm stuck at level 24 and haven't picked up any Legendary equipment/engrams since I picked up that Sniper Rifle weeks ago. I'm doing the Vanguard Strikes and playing the Crucible semi-regularly, but it seems to take forever to level up your Vanguard/Crucible ranks, so I'm still far away from being able to buy the armour. To all of you who are now level 28-29, did you buy your way to that level or did you get the armour through the random drops?
  22. Thought I'd share an online match I had today. Definitely the shortest For Glory match I've had so far!
  23. Thrilling round of matching in the Elite League!
  24. I'm going to bet on... 3 Token - Winston Garden Lions to score 40 or more goals 3 Token - Eights United to score 40 or more goals 2 Token - Eights United to have a player in the X11 every round 1 Token - Yellow Submarine to score the first goal of the season! 4 Token - Yellow Submarine to score a penalty in the season 2 Token - Yellow Submarine to have a single player injured for 15 days or more
  25. I've been spending loads of time playing For Glory 1v1, as well as playing against Goron most nights. The first night we played, the online lag was simply horrendous, but it has definitely improved a fair amount over the weekend to the extent where it is fine around 90% of the time. You still get the occasional laggy match, but I tend to pick and choose my opponents based on connection quality to minimise the laggy-ness. So far I've been rotating four mains - Bowser, Rosalina, Pikachu and Jiggs - but I've mostly been playing as Bowser. He's incredible. He has so many killing options. And once you're ahead, I can always quickly finish a match with the Bowser-cide. My win-loss record with him online is something like 40-10! Rosalina is also amazing. She is like Melee Peach combined with Ice Climbers, the ultimate concoction of cheapness. Most people don't now how to play against her at this stage - I think everyone's petrified of Luma. I tend to throw Luma out ahead, and if they decide to jump over Luma and go straight for me it's usually and easy shield-grab. Pika is my veteran main, back from the days of Smash 64. I think he's pretty decent in SSB4. He still lacks killing options, but he has some fantastic combo potential and a great edge game. Jiggs is my troll character. I usually pick her to have fun with newbies. Rest seems pretty easy to hit in this game, although I haven't really found many decent setups for it outside of resting out of shield. I had a great match with Goron where I managed to hit two rests on his Ness, including an off-stage rest while he was doing PK Thunder. Need to also mention the awesomeness that is Duck Hunt. The can! It is one of the best projectiles in the game, no question. And when combined with Duck Hunt's other projectiles and awesome Smashes make the duo very difficult to deal with. I want to get good with the Captain, but I can't seem to get used to him. It's the change in aerial physics from Melee that I'm struggling with. He seems much more floaty and slow in the air. I'll have to keep practising, he's still my favourite. Would love to play some of you guys as well at some point too.
