Just finished a good weekend seeing family and friends, so apologies for my non-particpating in various activities. This was sprung onto me Friday, and the only time i've had at home was either at the pub with said friends or Xbox'ing. It was fun, first time i've seen my Uncle in many months.

The rest of March's purchases Thats about it i think.

Yeah, he left teaching in 2002 to pursue a career in quizzing. I've seen him on various shows since.

The best games of this generation
Jimbob replied to dan-likes-trees's topic in General Gaming Discussion
In no particular order, these are mine The Mass Effect Trilogy Brilliant RPG trilogy from Bioware, it does make me consider to myself why i didn't pick up the first game sooner than i actually did. Lovely locations, good weaponry, a decent multiplayer (in 3), great controls, good cast of characters and it has it's own nack of humour throughout. Since they've fixed the ending of 3, it has made all them hours of play all the more worth it. Red Dead Redemption Kind of a red-herring from Rockstar, they dared to try something other than Grand Theft Auto. I know there was the original one "Revolver", but same as the original Fable, it was made by a different developer before being purchased by another. What Rockstar did was bring the Wild West into your own home. Horse riding, you could re-inact the "Damsel in Distress" on the railways. Horse and cart racing online with friends, you name it really (except solicitating women). This was worthy of "Game of the Year" Bioshock Trilogy I can call it this now i think, considering Infinite is out now. Ok i'll admit the 2nd was not as good as the 1st, basically the same game just a change of character and added multiplayer (no longer operational, shame). 1st game was something different compared to other point-to-point FPS games, adding RPG elements to it. Some interestingly designed areas in the 1st. The games range from underwater caverns and underwater cities to up in the heavens glorious ones. Gears of War Quadrilogy And i can call it the above, thanks to Judgement. Brilliant original trilogy, and one i am planning on replaying over the Easter period. Each game improved things which needed improving, including the multiplayer. That was the case until Judgement arrived. Like many others, i've gone back to 3 for my multiplayer fix. There are many flaws with Judgements MP, including the lack of Horde and decent team matches. Campaign and Co-op wise, these are fine examples of brilliance. Super Mario Galaxy 1/2 Fine example of Nintendo "getting it right". Excellent motion-controlled gaming, lovely environments and sweet, sweet platforming. And Nintendo got it right again with the 2nd, more excellent platforming indeed. Ok, it did lack a little compared to the 1st, but it was still an excellent title indeed. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim The best in the series, so much to do and to see. Especially with the add-ons, which goes to show that these add-ons only improve the game further and not wreck it. It can't be faulted, except when taking arrows to the knee. You could spend hours in here and only scratch the surface of it. Excellent RPG elements, great customisations. Every character you make will never be the same as the last, even if you tried. Random Dragon battles ftw. Batman: Arkham Asylum/City Anyone who needs a lesson in making good comic book games, please turn to this fine example. I know this sort of creation suits Batman, but i'm sure the elements could be transferred to other comic book characters like Superman, Spiderman etc. Each section was detailed well, enemies reacted differently and showed they were scared if you kept sneak-incapacitating their friends without them noticing. Asylum is far better than City, mainly because it's more enclosed and not as free-roaming. I'm not saying City is a bad game, but it was lacking something. City had more side-missions over Asylum, more challenging Riddles and a wide choice of different Batman enemies/characters. The Assassin's Creed series Fantastic series created by Ubisoft, much better than Prince of Persia (so last gen). Taking the elements of Hitman, Tomb Raider and Prince of Persia, throwing them into a mixer and pouring it out into mould, we have this series. The 1st was something different, introduced us to Altiar in a Crusade-era. Lovely environments, but repetitive. Go to guild, get target. Research using different techiques, get given authority to kill and return to guild for upgrade. II gave us a new character in Ezio and new environments. It also gave us new missions which were varied, and not samey. You still had your target, but things were different. Then we have Brotherhood and Revelations, 2 spin-offs of the 2nd. Again, both are good games and bring in new elements (improving upon city modifications from II and bought in online play. Revelations didn’t need to be made, it was showing it’s age. Then we have III and the huge explorable frontier. By far the best in the series, that is for sure. Honerable mentions to Kid Icarus: Uprising, L.A Noire, Super Smah Brothers: Brawl, Fable II, Max Payne III, Hitman Absolution and Tomb Raider -

Well, it's all good so far. Put an hour or so into it when i got home.

I got the entire "Epic Thread" downloaded on my PC, that was certainly interesting to say the least.

You'll get used to it. And the WHC seems to open Mania as well, it has for the past 2 anyway (Del Rio vs Edge and Sheamus vs Goat Face). Don't bet against it being the opener for this years one either, which annoys me. And WWE treat the WHC like a step-up to the WWE title, or a step down depending.

What song(s) are you really into at the moment?!
Jimbob replied to Aneres11's topic in General Chit Chat
I've been listening to a lot of Kiss over the past few days, i don't know why really. Must be a fix on 80's/90's Rock i have at the moment. -
When that happens, the internet will go full circle.
-
Not quite, but still worth a laugh. An interesting fact, the chaser himself (Mark Labbett) used to teach and was my maths tutor when i was in the Comprehensive 10 years ago. His first TV quiz appearance (to the best of my knowledge) was Countdown, he lost to an old lady.
-
The US title most likely a pre-show match, with Cesaro facing Kofi or someone just thrown in the mix. The IC title, hopefully it's defended at Mania.

Last year, Goafer was a legend in what he helped with. A very generous person indeed that is for sure. I would offer the same, but as i live in Wales it would prove a little tricky and would involve a 2 hour train-ride to and from London. If hotel accomodation for anyone coming down early is needed, i can sort something out for a few people if they so wish. -
I've said it before, i'll say it again. This years Mania (minus Punk vs Taker) looks shoddy. We've got 2 very predictable outcomes on the Triple H vs Brock Lesnar and Rock vs Cena matchups, we've got manythrown together matches (in Jericho vs Johnny Curtis, Hell No vs Ziggler/Langston, Clay/Tensai/Funkadactyls vs Rhode Scholers/Bellas (who split and reform more often than Bret gives a 4/10), Ryback vs Mark Henry and Shield vs Orton, Sheamus + Show. And we've got a WHC match between Del Rio vs Swagger. And thats about it really. Hardly any build for the thrown together matches.

I was thinking about the same thing myself. I'm up for a meatup again this year, need to make a trip to London. Name the time, i'll get the leave sorted. -
Bad call indeed. Got 4 days off this weekend, so plenty of gamings to be had.
-
Had a text through, my copy is in-store now.

I see Vettel has "apologised" to Webber about yesterday's events. The whole result reaked of Austria 2002, which i thought was sorted out and that it wouldn't happen again.
-
They should just chuck the US title in the bin, it's next to useless now. Mainly being defended on Smackdown and on Pre-shows, it's a joke these days. Edit: It's confirmed Bruno Sammartino is to be inducted by Arnie, as confirmed by Arnie himself.

Well, that was an interesting race to say the least. What the heck was Vettel thinking with that overtake, no wonder Webber was pretty pissed at the end. But he has a World Title to defend, so i guess he thought he was doing right. Only time will tell. I was kind of expecting Red Bull to win, but a 1-2 formation at the end was a little unexpected. Maybe i was hoping too much for Kimi to come 2nd. And as for Rosberg, i can understand why he was miffed as well, i think he had more fuel than Hamilton so could have done the overtake and come 3rd. Still, was interesting to say the least. 2 races down, bring on China on the 14th April. I'm really getting into F1 this season, compared to last year.
