Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Online Thread
RedShell replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I had a quick look, but it seems like that’s not possible unfortunately. You can go into the spirits section on the character select screen and choose “Auto-pick”, but all that does is randomly assign a main spirit, not the support ones. And I think it keeps that sprit selection until you either auto-pick again, or use one of your previously saved spirit teams. A random spirit feature would be great, quite surprised it doesn’t exist really. -
I use that Poké Ball for every capture! It certainly does add to the excitement though, yeah. BTW, turns out I’m not the only crazy Poké Ball person out there, after much trading on HOME I also obtained a Zacian caught with a standard Poké Ball. It’s probably hacked, isn’t it?

I’m on my way! -
Ok, I’m all out of wishing pieces. Going to take a break after this one. Thanks for the raids.
-
Yeah, the Shiny Seismitoad twins! OK, whalemon raid is up with that code. Oh, it’s only 4 star.
-
Sorry, it wasn’t shiny anyway.

How’s that for revenge?

Cool, I’m ready.

Are my raids showing up for you?

Super Mario Maker 2 challenge - June challenge has started!
RedShell replied to Sméagol's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Yeah, it was probably about 50/50. There was actually no speed running route planned initially but what with the theme being coin collection I figured it’d be a good addition, so eventually started working it into the level. It was a little bit problematic getting the timing of that falling 1-Up just right so it wouldn’t be missed at the start of the level, but I got there in the end. The jump at the very first pink coin is quite brutal too, took me many attempts to get it right on the clear-check, as the timing has to be pretty much pixel perfect in order to make it through. -

Glad you enjoyed it @Dcubed, and thanks for the vote. BTW, here’s the speedrun route that I mentioned before: -
Time for another catch up. Day 13 - Best open world city game: GTA V. Not my fave (that'd still be Vice City ) but what this game managed to achieve on a technical level (especially on the PS3) was super impressive! It's one of those games you can go back to and pretty much always experience something new, it's no wonder this has sold such crazy amounts and that they continue to milk it on new platforms. Day 14 - 2D platformer: Super Mario World. This is probably the 2D platformer that I've played the most over the years, and I still enjoy playing it today. Nothing else to add really, it's a classic. Day 15 - Best story: Papo & Yo. A lot of the story in this game is revealed via the gameplay which is something that I especially appreciated, wish more video games would attempt storytelling in ways that are unique to the medium, rather than simply replicating film with cutscenes. Day 16 - Most interesting collectables: The treasures in Pikmin 2. These not only looked great in the game, but were also given highly amusing names. Both of those aspects combined to make everyday boring objects some of the most interesting and memorable collectables ever. Day 17 - Racing game: F-Zero GX. Just the perfect racing game, beautiful visuals, hyper soundtrack and an absolutely ludicrous sense of speed! Oh and let's not forget, the wackiness...

I don't remember the time setting that was being used, for some reason I thought you normally have it set to 10. 3 minutes is the perfect length for online I reckon, especially when there are more than 4 players involved. On the subject of rules, have you ever considered enabling spirits? Could be fun to also do a week with those in play. Although last time I suggested a rule modification (amiibo FPs) you weren't really a fan. -

@Aneres11, I should be able to make it on Sunday. That's disappointing. Not to mention a bit weird. Hopefully all the Nintendo themed content that's missing in this version of AC will be patched in via an update. -

OK, cool. Do you not usually have it set to 10 mins though? -

You can't make video files with custom stage replays, but can upload the actual replay data IIRC. Anyway, another entertaining session last night for sure. I was playing even worse than my usual low standard for most of it though. And that perfect random selection combo of Shulk and my Monado custom stage... yeah, I certainly wasn't feeling it. It's cool when we do stamina rules, as I can just leave stage selection on random. Can't really do that with the other modes if a 10 min time limit is also in effect, as they'll basically go on for the entire 10 minutes! I do miss Sudden Deaths though. @Glen-i, and chance we could do a 2:30 or 3:00 min time limit for next week? -

OK, my thoughts on the July entries: @Vileplume2000 @Dcubed @Glen-i @Sméagol So in the end it was a close call between Vileplume2000 & Glen-i, but my vote is going to... Glen-i’s 4 Golden Coins! Thanks to everyone that submitted a level this month. -
Day 11 - Town or Village: Kamurocho from the Yakuza series. I'll go with the version from Yakuza 4 since that was my introduction to the franchise. It's not a particularly large area (so I think it should be ok for this category ) and that's actually a good thing too as it allows for loads of variety in a relatively small space, with several buildings that can be entered and explored. Also, in the unlikely event that I visit Kabukichō someday at least I'll know exactly where I'm going thanks to having spent hundreds of hours memorizing the layout in the Yakuza games. Day 12 - Favourite awful game: Suppose this will have to be Wii Music. While I certainly don't consider it to be awful (far from it ) there's no denying that the general consensus is on the negative side, and who am I to argue with IGNorant people that never even played it?

Here’s mine: The target is 100 coins in 100 seconds, but it’s actually possible to hit 999! However, only those that manage to reveal Baby Face can expect to max out the coin counter. Also, there’s a nice speed running route in this level. I’ll try to post the vid of my clear check run at some point. -
Disappointing this is just Paper Mario and a WayForward title. Nintendo must be sitting on more stuff that would've otherwise been getting the Treehouse Live treatment in June...

I swear I had absolutely no idea that was a thing, I'd only modified that stage recently (it used to be setup in a way that obscured the characters) and so hadn't done any testing on it. When I noticed that you and @Glen-i couldn't get out of Isabelle's attack though, well, I just had to take advantage of the situation. -
Got some catching up to do! Day 7 - Favourite ranged combat: Time Crisis II. Played the hell out of this game back in the good old arcade days and it was always a great laugh, especially when playing with others. Day 8 - Best musical moment: I am Impact! from Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon . The finest musical moment in video game history! Day 9 - Scariest moment: The entirety of Alien Isolation. Played this game in surround sound and it was absolutely terrifying! Day 10 - Credits sequence: Man, this is a tough one! There are just so many, but I think it'll have to be the credits for MadWorld.

Not me either, I only had time to shop and water flowers. -
Day 5 - 3D platformer: Super Mario 64. Lazy copy and paste from the N-E Top Ten N64 Games: Day 6 - Most relaxing navigation: Endless Ocean. Not played this in quite some time now, but I remember it being unbelievably relaxing to play (apart from those eerie sections in the abyss of course ) and the navigation was a big part of that. Slowly swimming around underwater alongside a plethora of different sea life, it doesn't get much more relaxing than that.
