  1. Games, games, games. - Miyamoto's new title. - Big franchises finally to clear up what's happening (perhaps with Nintendo..) especially with regard to Konami, Square-Enix, Capcom's Resident Evil 5, Maxxis' Spore and Lionhead's games, and the rest. - For them to clear up what's happening with the RareWare games on the virtual console- from Iwata's (or equivalent) mouth. Don't care about anything but the games, it's what makes a console. E3 Countdown 2006: is in 1 month, 6 days, 5 hours, 49 minutes, and 50 seconds.
  2. Man I can't beleive Capcom dropped Revolution.. this thing by the Deadly Silence team better be good.
  3. Only if you're one of those idiots that has to organise something to be relaxed.. spend some money to relax, do this and do it with people and make a big deal of it. You know what is relaxing for me? Going and sitting in the park with some O.J. I hate people who organise their relax time.. this is probably mainly applicable to chicks and people with more money than sense. Each to their own though.. some say that spending money is therapeutic- 'retail therapy'
  4. Fight Club's on BBC2 tonight. It's a top film and definitely worth staying up for.
  5. Just thought I'd add.. is this worth getting? I mean, it's coming with the pearl white GameCube kit.. I'm not really a fan of football games at all and probably wouldn't take advantage of the multiplayer mode. They're pretty cheap but I could save even more if I just got a black or purple GameCube second hand with a few 2nd hand games.. what do you reckon?
  6. My collection doesn't exist yet.. but I am going to make a modest one of the best games before the Revolution comes out and prices take a spike because everyone wants to play them again. Trying to pick up a 2nd hand Cube or maybe the pearl white kit at the moment and some of the better games for the system.
  7. I think Konfabulator should be added, now it's free.
  8. THIS ARGUMENT IS BULLSHIT Coke, Pepsi, Apple, iPod, Levi's, Nike, McDonalds. Fuck that xenophobic bullshit argument- it is shit. I think a lot of people here are from the new middle class who have had everything they wanted growing up- and don't understand what it means to be working class. I think the Revolution will be a success with the working class families. And to those of you who underestimate the power of the new middle class, I think the argument that they give their kids what they want is pretty sound.. they live a busy lifestyle, they are accustomed to a quality of life where they have time for themselves. If a games console gives them a few hours at the end of the day to shut the kids up then those kids will get it. and the same when they're out and about.. in the car, that kind of junk. Just give them it and they'll shut up. I'm not quite sure what the argument is but I've cleared up a few things here.. Graphics used to be a big deal for me, I wanted a PS2 because it had good graphics, a DVD player and the same for the PS1.. I didn't care about the competition really though- the games is what mattered to me deep down, but obviously before buying the console at launch I didn't know about many games. So me and my school chums went for the PS2 because it did seem to have the best graphics.. I didn't care about the competition. These days it's the games that matter to me, I'm more into what Nintendo has to offer and graphics has taken a major back seat. I'd say the demographic of people who buy a console just because of graphics is incredible small. The real factors are- what the media says, the cost of the system and the games. Revolution is cheapest, it will have some great exclusive games and it's been identified by mainstream media as the underdog system. Underpowered but it makes up for it elsewhere. Everyone loves an underdog.
  9. The transporter 2. As above pretty much, the music wasn't as bad, and the story had a few more twists than the first- pretty rad though again not as engrossing as your general box office action blockbuster. I really wish I didn't have this boxset in my collection now.. heh, guess it will come in handy if I ever have chavs as guests. 5/10 Everyone should watch some kung fu. If you have a look around on the torrent (torrentspy) websites theres a .torrent of the BBC4 shows 'Asian Invasion' by Jonathon Ross and I'm absolutely loving it. So many cool films to check out atm. - Don't download these unless you pay your TV license though
  10. The transporter DVD boxset, 1 and 2. Currently I've only seen 1.. but as far as mindless action movies go it's pretty average.. I don't see the appeal of them often, but this is not up to the standards of Die Hard or Mission Impossible. The transporter would get an extra 3 points if the music wasn't so shit.. it has class and the chase scenes are authentic.. all the good hallmarks of a film that has a lot of effort put into it- whoever did the music should be shot. The only people who would enjoy the music in this film are pilled up chavs. 3/10. GoldenEye is on ITV2 in ten minutes for those looking for something to do.
  11. 'kat fair doos.. you raise a good point, fans and temperature really don't have any place in home cinemas- maybe in cinemas like that 3D disney shizzle. lighting is no more space intensive than speakers though.. i mean with wireless we're not far from having our 7.1 surround sound mounted on the wall and powered by rechargeable batteries and the system syncing the sound over the airwaves. the same could be applied to the ambient lighting.
  12. It's not an April Fools.. these people were at GDC. it's a real technology launching in May.. The fact that it is so Revolutionary and popped up on the boards is just made everyone sketch out. Read amBX.com if you want.. Phillips have been peddling the tech for a while These are already on the market, you might have seen the adverts 'Ambilight televisions.. Sense and Sensibility' We're not saying it is in the Revolution.. just that it would be rad. Ashley I think you're right.. the idea of a fan and heater is a bit stupid, but the idea of a rumble pak probably was before they did it. I don't actually want a heater or a fan- seems like more of an annoying luxury than immersive, but I really want that lighting after seeing the video with how immersive it can be with the lightning and junk.
  13. Nah man, I disagree.. sure the technology is premature. But we've already got most of the kit.. Revolution will play DVDs, games and CDs.. we've got the big TVs and some of us have surround sound already. All we need is the lighting tech and support in game.. personally I think the idea is the future.. sure it's not ready yet. And they are being realistic by saying "From 2007" I'm a little skeptical of whether the fans and the heat controlled room are really necesary in games.. it seems gimmicky. Imagine listening to music and setting your visualiser to fish bowl.. how relaxing would that be to have your room all deep blue rippling lights. This is freaky cool and has far more application than just PC games.
  14. Has anyone heard of ambx before? I haven't http://www.ambx.com/resources/downloads/amBx_demo.wmv ambx is owned by Phillips and they were at GDC- apparently nobody thought it deserved any attention and all swamped around the Revolution which we've seen before. I'll assume the person hyping this technology in the video from "Revolution Software" is a slight coincidence okay? More about amBX at GDC 2006 here. My only concern is that amBX is before it's time.. and that the Revolution doesn't have the ports and technology to support it. PS. Credit to Marbles for digging this up.
  15. Okay those videos are starting to seem quite legit. Phillips has a stake in room filling 3D technology.. we saw it with their rather expensive scanners for hospitals. Phillips has a stake in this 3D filling the room technology.. is this fake or could those videos be legit technology. I'm not saying they're applied to Revolution- just that it seems pretty awesome.
  16. Perhaps there's been some number twisting there. We know developper's kits go through phases as hardware is finalised.. Nintendo Revolution has had several ranging from an overclocked GameCube to one on par with an original xbox with a plug in wireless controller. We're yet to see the final hardware revision which as far as I'm aware only first party developpers in Japan have at this moment in time. The PS3 being much more advanced kit- and many developpers claiming they melt and had problems. Perhaps PS3 is a total count of all developper kits shipped.. if there have been 3 hardware revisions to each developper that would mean about 4,500 developpers in total. give or take a few because some developpers may require multiple systems for larger games. Perhaps the figure that Nintendo announced that there had been 1,000 kits shipped means there are around 1000 developpers with the latest kit in their hands, Sony are good at twisting the numbers. We saw this at E3 when they totalled the number of terraflops and tried to make it seem like their gfx was more powerful than the 360s. I'm confident that Nintendo have good support.. and ultimately quality comes before quantity- we see the DS swamped with quality titles and nobody is complaining that only 3 or 4 games are released a month.
  17. BBC April 2002 "Nintendo has announced a price cut for its GameCube games console in Europe almost two weeks before it is even launched. The machine was originally expected to sell for about £150 when released to shops on 3 May but the company has set a new price of 199 euros (£129)." "He added: "Europe is a very important market for Nintendo and we are committed to making it a success." I'm freaky annoyed I paid £299 for my PS2 now.. even though it had a DVD player in it, which at the time was relatively expensive to buy standalone- especially from a company like Sony renowned for quality. I could have had so much fun for half the price.. I think I might have to pick up one of these pearl white GameCubes going down at the moment for bugger all if I manage to find a job. We're also looking at it on current market prices.. technology gets cheaper every day- well except flash which remains somewhat stagnant. In 6 months the hardware in Revolution may be cheaper, and mean that Nintendo will shave the price from what the analysts expect. While there are estimates of sub $299 today which could be the 'current' hardware price.. if Revolution drops in November the price would be considerably lowe as other analysts estimate.
  18. I'm not doing the whole news thing today.. I can't be arsed. I hate this whole skeptical I won't beleive anything that anyone says today.. it requires too much effort to think critically about any news at all. So fuck it. I mean.. I believed the Joystiq April Fools that you could buy a little 1UP mushrom.. it looked quite legit and with modern genetic engineering I figured it would be possible. But nay.
  19. Nintendo, Chocolate.. Masturbating, Cups of Tea, I dunno.. Finding something new to listen to by listening to the 100+ radio stations available on the TV.
  20. K, I love the iPod but I really can't be arsed to wait around 12 months for them to finally put some features I want/need from an mp3 player. I need 30gb at least, I want something simple and stylish.. I like listening to the radio.. in particular Zane Lowe's mix tapes that he does on Thursdays. Are there any decent mp3 players that have a line in built in and can record 'on the fly' into a set mp3 instead of doing it just into .wave which is very memory intensive. And something that has a line out.. I've been looking at the Cowon iAudio, they seem to fit the bill but does anyone else have any other recommendations? PS. it has to work with a mac. I'm sick of not being able to listen to music on the go so i'm just gonna get an mp3 after much delaying. Stuff I'd like: general crap, good battery life, software.. interface/design. not too fussed about this. must have: line in/out with on the fly recording into a set mp3 quality (eg 256kbps .mp3) and at least 30gb oh yeah and work with a mac.. drag and drop is fine. this one seems pretty solid.. and they have more active firmware upgrades than PSP do- meaning those little flaws in the OS should be kinked out sooner or later. I'm very interested in this.
  21. I stopped my downloads for this and am very chuffed that I did.
  22. WARNING Not for the faint hearted. Seriously, it's not chocolate at all, it's very fucked up.
  23. Nintendo are far more reasonable with currencies. Sony charged $300 for the PS2, and £300 in the UK- total rip-off. The DS as you state costed $150, and here it's £89, or £99 with a game- quite fair to me. The Revolution is stated to cost less than $299 as far as I'm aware.. now if that's the case we can expect to pay around £189, just over half. If the console debuts less than $299- let's say $249 (which all sane analysts point to) we can expect to pay £169 or below. The Revolution will ship with the Stand, FHC, Nunchuka add-on, Console, Controller wand receiver and all required AV/power cables. probably a demo disc too? We wont be getting the shell as standard as far as I'm aware. I can't see them pulling a 'Sony' on us and charging £249 when the 360 core pack is so cheap in comparison.
  24. You know an Apple style launch as Stefkov would be a pretty big secret you know? Though it wouldn't be corroborating between the stuff we heard about the developper's kits still not being finalised. However certain parts of the Revolution chip set and production may have gone gold.. and as soon as the processor/gfx is sorted then they'll add that on. Would be real nice to get a launch days after E3.
  25. 'bout £20 to have it properly filled up nice. use a sharp knife to seperate the two sides and melt it on the inside slightly before piecing it together. It just makes a mess but with some teamwork it comes out crisp. Use one of the smaller poundland eggs if you want to save- end of the day that much yolk is quite sickening in such a ratio.
