Should Scotland separate from the United Kingdom?
conzer16 replied to navarre's topic in General Chit Chat
Could Scotland survive economically on it's own? I wouldn't think so to be honest. -
Leeds kicked off at 12pm there away to Scunthorpe. 0-0 right now, coming up to half time. MOT!

I'm boycotting the Olympics due to China's abuse of it's own citizens human rights while the IOC and the rest of the world turn a blind eye and instead cast their gaze on an opening ceremony that takes place on the mutil-million euro investment site of 5000 Beijing citizens former homes. It's just reeks of double standards - this whole Olympis Games, not just the opening ceremony.

They are actually 2 distinct countries though. British and Irish are not from the same country. Britain is not the group of Island. Some term the group of islands the British Isles - very contentious here in the Republic. The second largest island is that of Ireland indeed, but Ireland is not part of Britain. Per-se? As in Continental Europe? And the argument hold right up to that point and beyond it. Irish people are not British, just as British people are not Irish. 2 distinct, independent and wildly varying cultures exist. Sorry to get so pedantic about this, but it realy pisses me off when Ireland is referred to as part of Britain of that being Irish is British. I have no problem with the British people, culture, countries et in the slightest but please!!! don't dare call me British! I'm Irish!!!! -

Dont want to start an argument over semantics but referring to Ireland as being part of the British Isles and thus British is completley and totally erroneous and very much discouraged by both island's governments. Ireland is in no-way British whatsoever. -

Well Ireland isn't in Britain or the UK so I would hope noone would refer to us as British... -
Best advice I can offer is what my late father said to me before he died... He said - "Never let anyone tell you what you aren't, what you can't be or what you can't do and never let anyone break your spirit for that is what makes you you." Will never forget those words for as long as I live.

Just back from it now, and I loved it! 2 things though: 1: Why was it so long??! It was like 2 1/2 hours! Wow!! 2: Why did they kill off Two-Face? I figured he was being set up for the next film's villain.

Had a long day, was up early making a few phone calls to estate agents and insurance companies. Then had lunch with my mom, and finished working for the day. Cooked dinner for the falmily and then we settled down to watch tv for an hour. My mate asked me out to celebrae the return of one of the lads from LA and we went out and had a few beers, danced with some lovely women and now I've returned home with the idea of being up at about 7.30 am to sort out tomorrow's schedule!!

Scanlon is very common indeed - only in certain areas such as Limerick and Galway. More western areas. -

How can you be 100% british and dislike Scottish!? That means you dislike some of your own nationality right? ...anywhoo! I'm 100% Irish. Also: I think the Irish flag is a great one incorporating the history of our island and cenuries of strife is a simple, elegant but emotive tricolour. Green represents the Catholic south White represents the peace that our island has so longed and struggled for, and finally achieved, between both religions. Orange represents the Protestant North. Simple. -
Dunedin. South Island. Not too sure yet moogle. Still trying to figure it out. Didnt really expect this to happen to me at this stage of life.

As most of you know I was away in New Zealand for the first half of this year and many might have noticed my relative absence from the boards during that time due to both the absurd time difference and a waning in my affinity for videogames and N-E. Now I know what you're all thinking...why is he telling us this, but I just wanted to make a point out of what I was/am experiencing, ie: a complete shift in my priorities and objectives in life and that includes some of my pasttimes and interests too. Isn't it strange how some things which have long been favourite ways to spend your time, or opinions you once held and revered can be shattered with the simple passing of time? Time, they say, is a great healer and I have had painful experience of just that, but what they forget to tell you, or perhaps just leave out for convenience that time is also the architect of great change. Personal changes like the ones I'm being so cryptic about are ones I didn't expect to experience as I thought I was a reltatively grounded individual and so this comes as quite a shock to me. So I am asking the rest of you girls and guys out there, has this ever happened to you where some of your most fundamental axioms can be shattered leaving you a little awed in the fact that such a shift of ojectives and beliefs can take place? ...to quote Mr. Bowie himself Just gonna have to be a different man Time may change me But I cant trace time (/weird conzer)
