  1. Yeah, they're smaller than DS games. The idea of playing DS games actually on the Wii is so ridiculous it's hard to know where to begin, really.
  2. Could there be some confusion here between mock-ups of a portable Xbox and the Origami, a handheld from Microsft which some people thought might be their foray into the handheld gaming market when it was first announced?
  3. My worry with these kind of franchises is that they're going to be developed for its 'home consoles' (The 360 and PS3) and shoe-horned into the Wii, while the controller is going to be utilised as a clumsy afterthought, that's all - it's certainly not the kind of game I had in mind when I decided to buy a Wii. The DS is a similar kind of thing - underpowered (comparitively), but more honed to the right sort of games for the platform and with a unique control system. How many multi platform games are any good on the DS? And is the DS a failure because of it? If I ever wanted to play yet another WWII game, personally I'd do it on my PC, but each to their own I guess. I don't see the Zelda comparison at all - Zelda is one series, of course those games are going to be similar. How many WWII series are there? If it was just one franchise of Medal of Call Of Honour To Brothers of Blood In Arms of Duty, I'd understand the analogy.
  4. Even if you've got the cash for it, it's a lot of money to justify to yourself. I could easily afford it, I've just paid off my credit card and got my season ticket, and thanks to my performance bonus I'm still 5 grand in credit, with no car, no kids, cheapish rent and basically nothing which really drains my cash - lots of expendible income. But it just seems like a waste of money at the moment cos there's nothing on it which really interests me.
  5. No, I mean the cookie-cutter world war games which seem much more at home on Sony and MS's offerings.
  6. No, it's a different type of cable altogether. I got a third party one off ebay I think it was for a fiver and the improvement in picture quality is amazing. Vibrant colours, pin-sharp and smooth as glass. I hated playing on other people's cubes after that becayse everything looked so fuzzy, washed out and anemic.
  7. I think demos are much more likely come in the form of some kind of download service (Although possibly there'll be some promo discs alongside that). Just as a side note, downloadable Wii-format content which can be played from media like SD cards sounds like an easy avenue to explore the possibily of running unsigned code. I think we're going to see homebrew on the Wii much, much sooner and easier than we did on the GC (partially due to the GC's proprietry media and limited connectivity)
  8. The mackems are no better with Quinn in charge I wonder if he calls himself into his office and gives himself a good talking to after each match?
  9. It boggles my mind that people buy a gamecube and an expensive TV and then use crappy 80s phono connectors like I've got for my NES to hook them together rather than splashing out £5 for an RGB cable off ebay.
  10. Are people really buying a Wii with the intention of playing games like CoD?
  11. Looks like the PS3 is coming out in Norway before the rest of the world! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4775155.stm
  12. Haha, I'm no graphics whore but that is shoddy.
  13. Worms 4 - Lots of fun multiplayer, even though it's 3D.
  14. Lowest is Severe, then Critical, The Omigodwe'reallgoingtodie, then ToldyouweshouldhavehadIDcards
  15. Are you sure it's from the Daily Mail, where's the bit where they blame asylum seekers?
  16. Personally I'm not willing to allow terrorists to terrify us so much that we surrender the freedoms that we've fought so hard for out of fear. Police are just like any other profession - some of them are OK, some of them are utter arseholes and/or incompitant. You can't just let them act with total impunity because we're scared of some cowards with rucksacks.
  17. Bush is thick as a plank, but there are people in his administration like Rove, Cheney and Rumsfeld who have just as much power as Dubya himself and are very intelligent indeed. Bush is a puppet, not a puppet master. I don't remember the nationalities of the hijackers being hidden at all, it was freely available in the press. Of course Bush didn't make a big deal about it because he's pally with the Sauds - if they'd been Iraqi, Iranian or Syrian, he would have, of course.
  18. Well, there was the aquaduct.
  19. Uh... http://www.cbc.ca/story/world/national/2004/10/29/binladen_message041029.html http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2001/11/11/wbin11.xml Some of the conspiracy theories are just thick. Like videos comparing the amount of plane left from other crashes to how much was left after the attack on the pentagon - conveniently ignoring that most plane crashes occur either just after take off (at a low speed) or at landing (with most fuel used) and when the pilot is trying to slow the plane down and avoid disaster - not when a plane has been deliberately chosen to have a full tank of fuel and flown directly into something at maximum speed. I dislike Bush intently - I have no doubt he wan't on the ball before the attack and exploited them afterwards. But sometimes a terrorist attack is just a terrorist attack. Snopes has a good write up on some of the conspiracy theories. http://www.snopes.com/rumors/pentagon.htm
  20. Haven't really played SNES stuff for a while, so I don't know if it's still the top banana - But I've always used zsnes ( http://www.zsnes.com/ ) and found it very good. Various video filters to improve the look of the games, online multiplayer (woot), a good save state system and a nice GUI.
  21. Which is why you should play them using an excellent emulator and a joypad.
  22. People listing SNES etc games they really want to play - is there any reason you don't just play them emulated? If it's for moral reasons, you've got more morals than me Saying that, whether you download it for an emulator, buy it second hand for an extortionate price off ebay or just sit around wishing you could find a cart of it somewhere, Nintendo will get exactly the same money from you - £0.00.
  23. Love the Bonk's Adventure games, remember reading reviews of them when I was a kid and wishing I could play them. On a TG16 emu I found them fun even today.
  24. Haha Nicked that, modified it a bit and texted it to my mates - Unfortunately got back from one of them "Yeah, got that about 2 hours agof rom someone else"
  25. Yes, apart from wingnut bloggers who think there's reason to fire a missile at a building when a plane with a full load of fuel is about to hit it anyway. The attack wasn't a failure, that immediately rules out Bush involvement. Apparently some airports believe the best way to deal with bottles filled with potentially explosive liquids is to dump them all together into a big metal bin in the middle of a crowed terminal.
