Hellfire
The man responsible for revolutionizing the world of entertainment would have been 65 today were he still alive. Responsible for games such as Metroid and Kid Icarus and most of the consoles Nintendo made, like Game Boy and Game & Watch, he resigned from Nintendo after the failure of another of his creations: the Virtual Boy. This thread is to pay respects to a great man that changed the way we spend our time. Thank you Gunpei Yokoi
Guest Jordan
This man not only created one of my favourite video game franchises but single handedly created the idea of the Gameboy, which has saved Nintendo many a time. A great man and a shame he died so young.

Tellyn
What a fantastic man, if you read Wikipedia it seems kind of unfair that he was treated as an outcast before he resigned after the failure of the Virtual Boy. Not really his fault, the console wasn't right for its time.
EchoDesiato
He created my first real game, Super Mario Land (yes, he did that, not Miyamoto), as well as one of my favourite franchises, Metroid. I wish that car didn't hit him.
MoogleViper
Embarrassedly I've never heard of this guy before. But from what I've just read he was truly a genius. R.I.P

knightendo
and let's not forget that without game&watch maybe the DS wouldn't be here today, and then where would nintendo be? doesn't bare thinking about, may he rest in peace, and may his legacy strive forward... Dante
First, Takeda came up with the idea of "pointer". Then, Ikeda came up with the "stick-like" controller, and Miyamoto praised this idea and he wanted the new controller to be something like "cell phone" or "car navigation systems' remote". They once made a prototype of a controller which looks like a classic, both-hands controller and has a pointer in the middle of it. They called this "Gunpei". summary2-2.html
