just checked that link above, apparently NY has daylight saving? so it'll actually be 1400, not 1500

"Daylight Saving Time is in effect on this date/time in America/New_York

Daylight Saving Time is not in effect on this date/time in GMT "

ofcourse that relies on that website being reliable

but we are not in GMT we are in BST so add 1 hour which brings it back to 15:00 :woops::laughing:

Most interesting...why does the clock at the bottom of this very page say it is GMT+1, even though it is the same as my clock, which is GMT?

And before you say "BST!", Greenwich is in BST, which means it should be the same as GMT...

Ok, I've just confused myself.

Somehow.

GMT remains the same at all times. When we last changed the clocks we switched time zone so lighting was nicer... we switch back to GMT next time the clocks change.

The whole thing confuses me, mainly because I'm too lazy to pay attention, but as I understand it

during the summer we are BST, during the winter we are GMT. GMT was established as a time anchor back when Britain had a nice lil empire going. GMT is left over from that, but I believe alot of people tried (or are trying?) to get a neutral standard implemented cos GMT isn't PC due to its link with the empire.

Thanks Twilight that unconfuses me a bit

Ok thanks that clears it up for me.

I just couldn't really get my head round something, which, as it's very simple, is rather fucking odd for me...

its just not something people think about much, twice a year we change clocks, and since greenwich is in the UK its easy enough to just think GMT= our local time, I know its what I tend to do, and I think most people do, its nothing to do with its complexity, just common usage (or misusage)

So if i live in Essex United Kingdom, and want to read-up on the Japanese conference as it happens! What time shall i be on the PC?

The Japanese conference is tomorrow (Wednesday) isn't it?

from what i can gather you'd have to up till 2:00AM if you wanted to know what was going on as it happens. (thursday morning)

yay for time confusion. Wouldnt it all be great if we just abided by GMT, no more time difference! that way, we get games the same time as other countries.

London UK time is 9 hours behind Melbourne Australia time is that right?

^-- If this is the case the times for the conferences in Australian Eastern Standard Time at least according to this quoted post are:

Japan:

11:00AM (Thursday) - 5:00PM (Thursday) EST

United States:

12:00AM (Friday) - 6:00AM (Friday) EST

Europe:

9:00PM (Friday) - 3:00AM (Saturday) EST

ON AN UNRELATED NOTE: The fact there are three separate conferences in NTSC and PAL regions, does this CONFIRM region locking? Or do you think there is some trick up Nintendos sleeve where somehow the conferences all link together and announce that the Wii is region free?

i found http://www.thursdayton.com/

which has count downs to all 3 events, only just over 16hours left for japan one.

we will defiantly get release dates (except for Australia, we will get ours in about two weeks), we will see some games we have not seen before FarCry is already confirmed.

Maybe we will get some new game announcements, but mostly i think it will focus on the wii features connect 24, Controller, Virtual Console and other unique features.

yep.. I don't think we will be dissapointed again.. i just checked the official nintendo page here in denmark.. they say that price and date will be released friday.. and even though Nintendo isnt big here in denmark I don't think they would put that on their page if it wasnt true

Really? Brilliant. That can't put that, if there not going to say it. So it's pretty confirmed we will get price and release date!

When i wake up tomorrow i'm hoping for a mass of news from the Japanese conference! :bouncy:
