Cho-mie Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Dude, Norton sucks. As does McAfee and AVG free Fixed =P. NOD32 is perhaps the best anti-virus program I have ever used, I had an infection from a crack file that AVG couldn't even touch downloaded NOD32 4 hours (2 deep scans) later I was 100% clean. (About 40 infections T_T)
Andrew Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 http://www.virus.gr/english/fullxml/default.asp?id=72&mnu=72 Look and weep.
Bogbas Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Now I'm even more pissed that I lost my f-secure license key...
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 I have Norton and have had no problems with it. Maybe they have gotten better lately, or maybe im just lucky.
Ollie Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Avast ftw! get it here: http://www.avast.com/eng/programs.html
Mr_Odwin Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Let's face it though. If you have a semi-decent firewall and just any average anti-virus you'll be generally fine unless you surf dodgy porn sites all day. In Andrew's link Kaspersky came out top and they do a free online scanner that just works through Internet Explorer: http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
Nintendork Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Having anti virus is great but the front line of protection is hacving Windows 100% up to date daily. It's amazing how many will spend £30 on Norton but not update Windows XP when they go online.

Agreed. The critical updates are extremely important. It's these holes in the OS security that the virus's are designed to attack!
RoadKill Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 AVG kicks the ass of every other anti virus hands down. Exactly. Don't even think of paying for anything, infact, don't think of anything else. AVG. The one URL you need to know. http://free.grisoft.com
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Ok I take it back. Today I updated the virus definitions of Norton Antivirus, and guess what? My wireless connection got screwed. I had to delete Norton and install wireless drivers again. Bye bye Norton.
Jon Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Exactly. Don't even think of paying for anything, infact, don't think of anything else. AVG. The one URL you need to know. http://free.grisoft.com Sack that. avast
