Glen-i Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Not 100% confirmed, but some leaks may have happened for this game. You've been warned. Spoiler Seems to be a list of the new Mega Evolutions. Yes, I looked. Some questionable choices, competitively speaking, but a lot more restrained then I expected, with some middling Pokémon getting much needed and deserved ones.

Yeah, been watching these spill out over the last few days, and it's reminded me of how mad I was about a certain something back in the day, which I'll get in to below. This purported leak this has come out of an old build of the game from the massive Game Freak - FREAK LEAK - a few months ago. I'll just post the list in a spoiler tag here: Spoiler Mega Evolutions are apparently on the way for: Clefable Victreebel Starmie Dragonite Meganium Feraligatr Skarmory Froslass Emboar Excadrill Scollipede Scrafty Eelektross Chandelure Chesnaught Delphox Greninja Pyroar Malamar Dragalge Hawlucha Floette (Eternal) Barbaracle Zygarde Drampa Falinks My boy Flygon missing once again. It's an outrage. I'm fuming. Glad to see the original fly boy - Dragonite - made the cut this time around. No Mega Xerneas or Yveltal is kind of wild. Good to see the Kalos starters getting some love here, I'm really looking forward to seeing how some of these have turned out! Oh, and another thing which apparently came from these purported leaks... Spoiler ...was that there won't be any Kalosian form Pokémon? I think I remember reading that going around. Glen-i Posted March 28 Posted March 28 (edited) Spoiler @Julius I'm kinda thankful if they don't give Xerneas and Yveltal one. I prefer Megas to be given to Pokémon that actually need the improvement. Flygon is an example that could use one though, it's very mediocre in a fight. Greninja really needs one though, that poor thing has been nerfed so hard because of Cinderace, it's flat out unviable these days. That said, assuming this is legit, there are still some questionable choices where it smacks of popularity being the deciding factor. Clefable, Dragonite, Excadrill, and Zygarde are the culprits here. These Pokémon are all very good already. And I really like Excadrill, but it doesn't need a Mega. It's far more restrained then Gen 6, so props there. Edited March 28 by Glen-i 1
Glen-i Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Nope, no new news. Just wanted to post a silly comic I chuckled at. Look, I like Tepig, but it will forever stand out here. Still baffles me they went with two Johto starters. 3
Glen-i Posted May 23 Posted May 23 (edited) Nope, still no news. But seeing as this is one of two games that has a slightly edited Pokémon logo, I think it's a good place to share this interview with the guy who designed the western Pokémon logo. Edited May 23 by Glen-i 1
Julius Posted Wednesday at 01:03 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:03 PM (edited) Releases 16th October! And yes, that key art makes up the box art – Switch > Switch 2 Edition box art once again: Very surprised this isn't taking the November slot every main series Pokémon game except Legends: Arceus has since X&Y, but then there it is – we're returning to Kalos in October 2025 like it's October 2013! Julius Posted Wednesday at 01:41 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:41 PM Oh, this is pretty funny – the US Pokémon site shows the launch details as being published on the 19th (last Monday), so I'm guessing that might be when it was added on the backend? Elsewhere, a new Mega Evolution page has gone up on the official Japanese site and it's a beaut, with some great new artwork for a number of Mega Evolutions, as well as some art further down for each Mega Evolution to date. To show how all-in they're going to be with Mega Evolution marketing this year, take a look at just how many product lines/events/tie-ins were announced! Good stuff, can't wait
Julius Posted Wednesday at 01:53 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:53 PM (edited) Oh shoot – is that Emma battling the trainer, the girl using the Mega Lucario? The eyes, the hair(cut), the outfit she has on underneath the very Looker-esque coat looks like that suit... On the right that could be the cuff and hand of a generic Pokémon trainer, but it could also be Looker? So many Mega Evolutions crammed into this, like Mega Salamence flying off way high in the background, or Mega Steelix on top of that building. Most other Pokémon battling in this image being a Mega implies to me that Noivern might be getting one? There's also a shady guy chilling by the satellite dish...could be Vinnie given the double-breasted suit jacket, but it also looks like the jacket might be white? Might just be the lighting suggesting that, though. Edited Wednesday at 01:54 PM by Julius

The male trainer in the foreground is an idiot! His Chikorita is super dead! What are you doing!? Didn't I just explain why Mega Lucario is busted two weeks ago? I wouldn't even use a Meganium against it! Then again, I wouldn't use a Meganium, period. Because I'm good at battling. Anyway, apart from that, gorgeous box art! And it's nice to get more confirmation that battles are the focus this time, not boring landscapes. And no Charizard on this artwork as far as I can tell! Blimey! Actual restraint!? "OK, how's this?" "Sugimori, you fool! You didn't put Pikachu on it!" "But Pikachu is barely relevant in this game! I drew the starters and some Megas to go with it. Those are the focus, right?" "No! Last time we didn't put Pikachu in a game was Black and White, and it uber-bombed! Add Pikachu." And so Ken Sugimori reluctantly drew yet another bloody Pikachu, except he drew it very small, so no-one would actually notice it. The End. 1 3
