Great stuff @flameboy, building a nice collection, the big fear is playing an hour of each game and not getting stuck into one :) Update the thread with impressions too!!

haha yeah I'm trying not to do that, so once I've started one I'll finish it first.

EDIT;

Should add three new additions to my collection;

Mario Maker

Mario Kart

Mario 3D World

Wind Waker

All the Humble Bundle games previously sold

NES Remix Pack 1

F-Zero Maximum Velocity (GBA)

Xenoblade Chronicles X

Tokyo Mirage Sessions

Pikmin 3

New Super Mario Bros. U

Sonic Lost World

Splatoon

Nintendo Land

Josh your comments about Donkey Kong interest me, what makes it feel different to Donkey Kong Country Returns? I did not get on with that game at all however I did play it on 3DS and not Wii.

My collection is growing people, currently stands at;

Mario Maker

Mario Kart (once I'm more familar with the game I may join the league)

Mario 3D World

Wind Waker

All the Humble Bundle games previously sold

NES Remix Pack 1

F-Zero Maximum Velocity (GBA)

Xenoblade Chronicles X

Sorry for the hideously late reply :woops: - Donkey Kong Returns was fun but a lot of things about it annoyed me, the 'blowing' mechanic especially, not to mention shake to roll. More than anything though, because it was the first Returns in a while and because it wanted to come across as new it stripped away a lot of the DK lore aside from the obvious lack of Kremlins - the music, atmosphere and lack of extended Kong family was all missing.

Tropical Freeze on the other hand gets rid of the stupid blowing mechanic, maps everything to buttons and feels like more of an actual 'world' than a bunch of obstacle courses in a jungle setting. The return of David Wise to make the music is a huge deal and really brings back some of that classic Donkey Kong meloncholy whilst having Dixie and Cranky by your side as well as Diddy Kong really make it feel like home again.

The best thing for me though was the return of water levels. Water-based levels were such a huge part of DKC and I couldn't believe they were missing from Returns but they're back in this title and better than ever, Donkey Kong is now so angelic and flows so beautifully underwater, not to mention it has some of the best music and aesthetics in the whole Wii U library.

Tropical Freeze is the best 2D platformer ever made. Apologies to SMB3 and SMW, but I'm not even flinching as I say this. The gameplay is absolutely perfect, feels like elegant ballet.

You can find it cheap, give it a try. Even if you didn't like DKCR. Nothing to lose, Nintendo resale value is what it is.

All of these game purchases is highlighting an issue that I have with jumping into a console so late on. Obviously there's a library of games available to pick up and reasonable prices and you should never experience a drought but I found myself when building up my PS2 and Dreamcast collections that I'd pick up loads of games ever a short period of time and it meant I wasn't taking the time to enjoy the games. Heck, I'm still catching up on games I purchased a decade ago :heh:

Make sure you sit down and get the most out of some of these great games : peace:

Dude, your constant purchasing of games is great but the lack of Captain Toad is killing me. :(

Still, you bought DKC:TF, so it's not all bad. Prepare your ears for an amazing soundtrack. David Wise. :bowdown:

Yeah Captain Toad unfortunately still kinda pricey here $50 so will wait for discount.

Oh I will for sure. It's my plan to play one at time once silly season is out of the way. I'm very excited that I now have a fantastic backlog to play.
