I am really happy this has finally been announced! I shall now eagerly await the multiplayer reveal at Gamescon in August! Good to know it's released on the 5th, I might take the day off work.

I echo what @kav82 said about the netcode. But I also really want the maps the return to the designs of the former COD glory days. Large, less cramped and no clutter - also for the love of everything decent in the world of FPS gaming do NOT put a piece of waist high cover on every single corner. Whoever thought that was a good idea needs taking out and flogging.

Bring back Spec Ops (or an equivalent which doesn't include Zombies) and me & my friends are in!

Too right. Spec Ops was awesome on MW3, I had some great games with Lostmario and Nightmare. I really want to see that return. I've never been a big fan of Zombies, but Spec Ops is brilliant.

So even though I've serious doubts and concerns about CoD multiplayer as of late, I've still gone and booked the week off work for it!

I thought about it but nah, playing from 7 to 9 most nights is enough for me.

You'll be playing on your own with randoms, wheres the fun in that?

You know me Lost, I need those extra custom class slots unlocked as soon as possible!

Also, extended time on my own will allow me to learn each gun and map better, as well as taking in the perks for setting up specific classes. I like to learn as much as I can from the games as quickly as I can!

Corrected that for you.

I'm looking forward to it, not as hyped as I was for Black Ops 2, but maybe thats a good thing. That game was such a disappointment after Black Ops.

Tempted to get back into Black Ops 2 so I'm not too rusty.

I never stopped playing Reflex after I got it and sure as hell never stopped playing Black Ops... MW3 I did because of hackers and BO2 because of MH3U... both valid reasons. Although I do still pop on BO2 every now and again.

I'm pretty sure you disappeared for a month or so on both MW3 & BO2 (around Jan-Feb) then returned to playing regularly.

Didn't you lose your internet or something?

I was only joking with you as its happened with the last two COD games.

Did with MW3 as I moved house, but not with BO2. It was MH that ended that.

The only really good thing about Black Ops II was the Pick 10 system. What Create-A-Class should have always been.

The pick 10 system was good, but was overshadowed by all the problems.

Still, everyone will buy this day one! I knew it would happen :)

Multiplayer reveal will be interesting. I would love it if they killed off quick scoping, brought back the motion sensor and took the maps back to MW/WAW/BO map designs.

I honestly think there's too much going on now in COD games, they need to strip things back. Sometimes less is more!

Just an FYI to the Clan.

I'll be sitting this one out.

COmbination of a few things.

-The downward spirial of quality after BO1 when MW3 and BO2 came out and I'm highly wary of the quality of this enjoyment-wise.

-Feeling a bit burnt on on FPS's (never been a "big" FPS fan and having bought 3 CoD games in 3 years seems odd for me...only really got them for the online multi with the clan)

-Already planned my limited spend for this year (Wonderful101, Wind Waker HD, Watch Dogs, Sonic Lost World) and CoD not on it

Maybe next years CoD (or hopefully another FPS comes along that will be different and better)

Call of Duty: Ghosts Multi-Player Reveal - August 14th @ 10.30am PDT

We're now two weeks away from the big reveal. Activision have also added a Wii U section to the official COD: Ghosts forums, it's actually already the second most popular console specific discussion forum on the boards. Hopefully Ghosts will do well on the Wii U.

Watch the reveal here:

What the hell was that garbage playing through my earphones?! it was a constant stream of cursing. Almost vomited.

The interactive maps impressed me in this trailer. A lot more strategy will be required this time around.

Dual-render scope gets a plus from me.

Battlefield chatter should help those without headsets during team games.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Multiplayer – Built on Three Pillars

Your Soldier

CREATE-A-SOLDIER

In Call of Duty®: Ghosts you don’t just create a class, you create a soldier. Choose the head, body type, head-gear and equipment, and you can even create a female soldier for the first time. With over 20,000 possible combinations, you can create the soldier you’ve always wanted. And each soldier you create will also have his or her own load outs.

PERKS SYSTEM

The new Perks system has more perks than ever before. Every perk has a value from 1 to 5, and you have 8 points to allocate. So for example, choose 4 perks each valued at 2 points a piece, or even 8 perks, each valued at 1. You could also choose to get rid of your secondary weapon and get up to 11 perks.

KILL STREAKS

There are over 20 NEW Kill Streaks in Call of Duty®: Ghosts — such as Juggernaut Maniac, Helo-Scout, Vulture and the ODIN Strike. You can even bring in Riley, from the single-player campaign, as your guard dog to warn you when enemies are near, and to attack enemies if they get to close.

SQUADS

Squads introduces a whole new level of competition to Call of Duty. We’ve taken the best parts of the Multiplayer experience and combined that with a vastly improved AI and our new mechanic of creating your own squad-mates. All the hard work you’ve put into customizing, playing, and prestiging your squad can now be put to use on a brand new playing field.

Your World

NEW ENGINE

From maps and modes, to animation and audio, to who you are as a player — this is the biggest overhaul of multiplayer since the original Modern Warfare®. Things like Sub-D, Displacement Mapping, Real-Time Lighting, and Dual-Rendering tech gives us the ability to build the most visceral gameplay experience we’ve ever created. And at 60 frames-per-second across all platforms, there is nothing like Call of Duty Multiplayer.

In Call of Duty®: Ghosts multiplayer, customize your soldier and squad for the first time. Level environments are more realistic and immersive than ever before, and now Call of Duty Anywhere lets you stay connected to the game wherever you go.

DYNAMIC MAP EVENTS

We’re immersing players in the multi-player maps in ways similar to what we’ve done cinematically in single-player, while adding new ways to play and interact with the environments in a meaningful way. So we’ve introduced new interactive elements and player triggered events that make the maps evolve as the match goes on. There’s a huge range here. From player-triggered traps to map-changing killstreaks, the entire landscape can shift and require new tactics and strategies.

TACTICAL MOVEMENTS

Call of Duty®: Ghosts has redefined how you move through the world.

A new contextual lean system now allows you to lean around obstacles without adding button combinations

A new mantling systems allows you to move fluidly over objects, while not losing momentum.

The knee slide allows you to naturally transition from sprinting to crouch to prone.

AUDIO DESIGN

A completely revamped audio design featuring an ADSR-based reverb system, reactive emitters and locational battle chatter gives you a more immersive experience.

COD Anywhere

CALL OF DUTY APP

Adds a new dimension to Call of Duty®: Ghosts, allowing you to stay connected wherever you go, and engage in new experiences.

COMPANION EXPERIENCE

The Call of Duty App includes some of the best and most popular features from Call of Duty® Elite, such as tracking your career stats, as well as the ability to check out a friend’s or rival’s stats.

Communicate via the Rally Up and Clan Chat features, to keep in touch with your friends and Clan members

Second Screen functionality is there to enhance your experience, and not get in the way.Pre match, you can edit your squad. In match, you have one-touch access to swap your loadout for your next spawn.

CLAN WARS

Clan wars: A brand new, 24/7 game mode that connects directly to Call of Duty®: Ghosts multiplayer, where clans compete against each other for additional XP and in-game content

Any news on Spec Ops?

Spec Ops is dead... It is replaced by Squads:

The Squads game mode can be played solo, co-op or competitively, and is based around the idea of taking the squad you've created in multiplayer and using it to compete against the AI or other players. Importantly, your progress in Squads counts towards multiplayer, so you earn XP and rank up by playing the mode.

The AI that controls your squad mates and enemy squad soldiers is, Rubin says, more lifelike than ever before. They'll even corner camp and jump shot. And here's where it gets interesting: your loadout choices govern how your soldiers behave, so, for example, if you equip one of your squadmates with a sniper rifle, he or she will act like a sniper.

Although Squads weren't playable at the multiplayer reveal event, I like the sound of the gameplay modes that support them. There's the typical four-player wave-based mode called Safe Guard, inspired by Survival from Modern Warfare 3, but Squad versus Squad and Squad Assault feel fresh. With the latter, you, or you and your mates, join forces against an offline player's squad. The game matchmakes you against squads made by players around the world, or you can choose one of your friends' squads to assault. You can challenge these offline squads with five other players or go in solo with five of your squad members. There's a hint of Call of Duty Manager to the whole thing.

Here's the full reveal event:

I shall watch it again and give you my full impressions. However I will say this: I'm very impressed by the Squads idea, it seems like a genuinely innovative and fun addition. However, I believe the game has become too frantic and less tactical. I was slightly worried by some of the gameplay shown in the reveal trailer as it looked faster and crazier than ever.

Sorry, overlooked that part of your post.

- “Squads” includes Squad vs. Squad, Wargame, Safeguard (4-player, wave-based co-op mode) and Squad Assault (6-player co-op)

Day 1 guaranteed just for this game mode.

4 & 6 player co-op, thats going to be AMAZING!

If we are having a bad night with lag compensation, we all just play this instead.

Never been a fan of Zombies but Spec Ops on MW3 was brilliant, you had to have your tactics spot on.

If the netcode is sorted, I'll be a happy bunny!

Who has got time off for this? I'll not be gaming on my own in the day all week will I?
