Mokong Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 (edited) Thought we could do with an official thread for talking bout sending our consoles into the Nintendo Service Centre for repairs as every now and then I see people mentioning it within the actual console threads. And because I have just set up a repair for my 3DS.... which I only had repaired (for the same issue) last October The R button is once again not working like what happened last time. Had a feeling it was on the way out again. Its been acting funny the last week and today while playing Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate it just stopped working altogether. Tested it on Zen and Marvel Pinball and Luigis Mansion 2 (which becomes pointless without an R button ) and it doesn't work with anything Just set up a repair thing on the Service Centre website, gotta wait for an Irish registered postage label to get posted to me before I can send the console to them... if anything like last time I'll prolly be without my 3DS for a month Least this time they shouldn't be charging me as they said I had a new one year warranty after the previous repair and it only been 6 months Can't believe it is the same problem, like WTF? Bet this time they just swap me out for a new console... if they do they had better remember to do a system transfer so I don't lose my Street Pass Plaza and other data. Rummy Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I had my 3DS repaired not long ago for a dicky L buttom and it not waking from sleep properly, funnily quite soon after getting ti back my R button started to exhibit similar symptoms of being a bit shit - so I might/need to send it in for repair soon too. Additionally it seems that rather annoyingly the bottom screen has actually left a permanent scratch mark on my top screen too! Well gutting. I want to send it in but I hate not having it
Blade Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 You reckon ninty would fix my smashed up 3DS screen from when i entered rage mode playing in the MK league?
Mokong Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 You reckon ninty would fix my smashed up 3DS screen from when i entered rage mode playing in the MK league? They prolly would... doubt it would be covered by warranty though?
Blade Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 They prolly would... doubt it would be covered by warranty though? "Accidental" damage?
Hero-of-Time Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 What's the deal with the shoddy repairs they are doing? When I sent my GamePad back they only fixed the dead pixels and didn't address the charging issues it was having. Ike also had to send his back numerous times as well.
Ike Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Ike also had to send his back numerous times as well. Yep, took 3 tries for them to fix it. My issue was the Gamepad buttons would stop working and well as the touch screen but it still seemed to be connected and the picture on the Gamepad was updating and I needed to turn the Gamepad off and on again for it to work again. First time I sent in both the Gamepad and console, they replaced the Gamepad. Still had the problem. Second time they claimed nothing was wrong with the console and did nothing. Third time they eventually replaced the console, they also did a soak test on the Gamepad even though it obviously wasn't an issue with the Gamepad. Works fine since they swapped it. Each time I sent it off it was only away for a about a week on average so no real complaints about speed, would have been a lot worse if it took them a month. My Wii U box is well and truly battered now though. When I phoned they were generally helpful, although they claimed they never heard of that issue before. I like how they keep you updated via email/text, but in cases the issue isn't quite obvious I think they could do with contacting you such as in my case. Although I was offered to talk to the repair team the 3rd time I phoned them up. It's was bit of a odd issue since it wasn't easy to reproduce so not really surprised it took 3 tries, but I think they should have replaced the console the second time or even tested it more the first time.

Plus I can't even download a postage label for the free postage of my console, they have to post out the Irish labels Third time they eventually replaced the console, they also did a soak test on the Gamepad even though it obviously wasn't an issue with the Gamepad. That's the part that worries me if they decide to just swap my 3DS for a new (same) one and forget to do the system transfer and then say that they "don't garauntee data retention* or something. Will be gutted to lose all my SP Plaza info like puzzle pieces...especially the few pink ones I have

Will be gutted to lose all my SP Plaza info like puzzle pieces...especially the few pink ones I have They posted mine the first time, second time I did it via the website, third time I asked the guy to email the labels instead of posting them but they never showed up so had to ask to send them to my email again via the chat. Guess what turned up a couple of days later in the post. Yeah they transferred everything, I kept making a point to mention it whenever I could though. If your worried include a note with the 3DS asking them to do it. I'm sure it's an automatic thing they do. Make sure to note your current 3DS's serial number just in case, should help with digital purchases.
Mokong Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 Got my postage label in today and promptly packaged up my 3DS wrapped in a layer of bubble wrap and placed inside a bubble wrap lined envelope (I be paranoid) and brought it to the post office. It is on its way... now we play the waiting game (note: Waiting Game is not a 3DS game )
Ealdst Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 (edited) It is on its way... now we play the waiting game (note: Waiting Game is not a 3DS game ) Isn't that the current 'must play' game for the Wii U (sorry couldn't resist, and for the record I do love my Wii U :p:grin:) Edited April 24, 2013 by Ealdst
Mokong Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 HHmm... my An Post tracking says it has been delivered to the repair centre but when I check it on the sercive centre website the status is still waiting for it to arrive to them....maybe they just haven't logged it in yet.... hopefully they aren;t too busy and get it looked at and fixed Monday and get it on the way back same day too
Ike Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Don't think the repair team works on a Saturday so it should update on Monday when they get round to starting the repair.
Mokong Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Just checked again and it is updated as Confirmed having recieved it now. Hopefully doesn't take them too long to actually get round to repairing it.....*waits* HURRY UP MY POCKET FEELS SO EMPTY WITHOUT MY 3DS EDIT: Interesting just checked the status again and Fault Diagnosed, Repair Started and Repair Completed have all been ticked off.....so they must have done it for free too cause it didn't ask me for a fee before carrying out repair. Just need to wait for them to send back now...might have it back by end of the week it seems
Mokong Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 And Dispatched That was a quick turn around Hopefully will have it back by the end of the week
Rummy Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Ahhhh! Mine's totally given up the ghost! Turn it on...black screen. Wireless can turn on and off, screens seem...dead? I dunno, I opened it last night though, black screens, and nothing happened when I hit 'home'. IF I press power it does the whole 'don't turn me off I can sleep instead!' dealie, then if I choose return to home menu it just hangs on the 'Home Menu' splash load thingy :( Well worried, and well too busy to deal with this right now.
Mokong Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 That sucks Rummy... you should definately set up a repair job the speed at which they did mine I don't think they are that busy at the moment so you should get it back fair quick. Mine arrived back today BTW Sent express by DHL, Nintendo are too good sometimes The letter with it said they just "replacing parts" so guess they just swapped out the button on the inside. Also extended my Warranty by another 12 months
Rummy Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Well! I'm trying to register the repair etc but when it comes to my postage details it won't let me log in to my account there! If I re-enter my normal details as if I'm new, it won't let me as I already exist! Password's definitely right, can log into the account(just reset the pass too) normally but not through the actual repair bit itself. You had anything similar @Mokong X\-C? Realised AC is only 6 weeks away, wanna get this fixed up in time for it!

I ended up reseting the password AND deleting all my cookies and didn't log in until I was registering for the repair (like during the process, not before) The cookie thing was prolly the more important
Rummy Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Ahhh, ok I'll try to do that tonight when I get in. At least they've got a fast turn around on things. With a top scratched screen, a dodgy r button, and a non-booting console I'm wishing on the slim chance they decide to replace it new for new lol. I know it won't happen though Wish it hadn't gotten so beat up over the time I've had it though!
Rummy Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Jeez, tried on 3 different browsers and even two different computers - i CANNOT log in to their bloody service site! Decided to just send them an e-mail with all the details instead. Hopefully they'll get back to me.
Ike Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Just phone them. It'll be quicker, they are sometimes slow to response to emails. Most likely they will tell you phone them anyway.
Mokong Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 Wonder why it wouldn't ork for ya online. As I said I had teh same problem but deleting all my cookies seemed to fix it... you did try that yeah?

As I said I had teh same problem but deleting all my cookies seemed to fix it... you did try that yeah? Yep, wiped everything from chrome, firefox, IE - not a jot! Seems such a strange thing really. Just phone them. It'll be quicker, they are sometimes slow to response to emails. Most likely they will tell you phone them anyway. I might if they don't respond in the next few days, I'm so busy atm though I don't have much time to be waiting around on the phone and stuff. That sounds so pretentious, but I've got a couple other bits going on too that e-mail just is easier for now. Ha! Timing. Just go a text for a reset password(not sure why) and a text thanking me for my repair request, and saying the request is being processed! Edited May 15, 2013 by Rummy Automerged Doublepost
