If I remember correctly, Japan made its way out of recession last year, but Japan has a very weird problem in the fact that it's constantly going in and out of recession. I think the requirement to be considering out of recession is 2 quarters of growth, but that may just be a standard held by European Union participants.

 

Domestically, Japan might be fine. There's a big push for some inflation, which will hike up prices, but will also up income levels as employers out there tend to not be stingy as fuck and largely treat employees as family (this works out both positively and negatively). But any guess as to whether they are experiencing the same uplift as us right now may well be any ones guess now that they've had a rise in their consumption tax. It's only increased by 3% to 8%, but still, they're all pissed about it and the last time it happened they went straight back into recession.

 

People are saving up for another hike to 10% at some point over the next few years, so maybe there's no uplift in Japan right now, they might all start hoarding their money again.

I'm extremely curious to see how well overall Titanfall will perform on the 360. Microsoft clearly wanted it to be held back as much as possible, and judging from how polished the port is, I can imagine it would have cannibalised heavily on sales of the Xbone.

MS seem to have pushed it out with very little marketing. They didnt advertise the 360 version much at all. We saw no vids of it running pre-release just silence.

There's a reason things have dropped in Japan the last two weeks. There was a tax increase at the start of the month so that's increased the price of everything.

 

There was actually a significant increase the week before as everyone rushed to get things at the lower price.

7 million? Amazing. Good to read and with the announcement of Playstation Now integrated into Sony's new 4K TVs as well as the 1.70 firmware update and the Share Factory editing suit, it looks like Sony aren't resting on their laurels.

 

Between these added features and the updates to both Killzone and Infamous, it's obvious that they really are listening to community feedback - and why wouldn't you? It's basically free crowd sourced brainstorming.

Nothing to do with the Vita.

 

Last year they had all the big hitters was still down on 2012. They dont have the same heay hitters this year and the sales are on the slide. 3 years in the product should be hitting its stride and growing not declining.

 

Maybe it wont be 2015 but they really need to get out a premium 3DS. I dont think the 2DS is the answer for Japan. They need to give people a reason to upgrade.

Yeah the PS2 generation was over before it started. Some put a picture up on GAF of Sony's E3 conference in 2002 and it said that they had shipped 50million PS2's compared to 9 million Gamecubes....
