General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Recommended Posts

Zelda and MH4 did great!!! 3DS numbers real nice and the difference between the impact the n3DS has compared to when the XL was released is huge.

Just shows what can happen if you offer consumers a reason to upgrade rather than just a bigger screen.

Obviously enough people do not mind not having the n3DS and the faceplate goodness.

The Zelda numbers are very interesting and would think after the Wii U Zelda game the following one should be released on the next handheld.

February 2015 NPD: Kirby and the Rainbow Curse sells 52,000 copies

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse’s debut sales in the U.S. are in. Last month, the game sold 52,000 copies, according to reliable NPD leaker “creamsugar”. It should be noted that because Kirby and the Rainbow Curse launched towards the end of February, that figure only accounts for about a week of sales.

The only other piece of Kirby and the Rainbow Curse sales data comes from Japan. First week sales for the game (as revealed by Media Create a few weeks ago) came in at 32,000 units. Total units sold should be at around 60,000 units at this point.

Nintendo must really wish they released Kirby on the 3DS. Was a dumb move to release on Wii U.

I just copped, Wii U beaten by PS3. :nono:

I really wasn't expecying Mario Party to chart that high so that's great news. Real shame about the Wii U in Japan atm though, that was the only place it ever seemed to do fairly well I'm comparison to the other consoles

Really disappointing week from a Nintendo point of view. Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars had a crap debut, can only imagine the Wii U numbers. Still annoyed that Resident Evil Revelations 2 isn't coming to the Wii U. What are Nintendo doing? Put a Nintendo Direct to at least to drum up some interest.

Mario Party 10 though down on last week which was to be expected has done reasonably well to stay that high. Shame it's the only Wii U game, especially because other quality Wii U games are far more deserving of success.

NPD: Sales Of Nintendo Hardware Systems Up Nearly 60 Percent in 2015

The New Nintendo 3DS XL system continues to inject growth into Nintendo’s hand-held business, and the momentum created for Wii U in 2014 has carried over into 2015. Take these two elements, add in fun, exclusive titles starring some of the biggest names in gaming, and overall sales of Nintendo hardware systems so far in 2015 have increased by nearly 60 percent over sales during the same time frame in 2014.

Other Nintendo sales highlights include:

Nintendo 3DS

  • Total hardware sales in 2015 have increased by nearly 80 percent over sales during the first three months of 2014.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D added more than 184,000 total units in its second month, bringing lifetime sales to more than 730,000 total units.
  • Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS added more than 110,000 total units in its sixth month on the market, bringing its lifetime total to 2.4 million units.

Wii U

  • Total hardware sales in 2015 have increased by more than 20 percent over sales during the first three months of 2014.
  • Mario Party 10 launched on March 20 and sold nearly 290,000 total units in its first two weeks.
  • Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Mario Kart 8 continue to sell well in their respective fifth and 11th months on the market, bringing their lifetime totals to nearly 1.6 million total units and more than 1.9 million total units, respectively.

The momentum for Nintendo software and systems should continue over the next few months thanks to a strong lineup of software that includes the just-released Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (New Nintendo 3DS XL, April 10) and Splatoon (Wii U, May 29) games.

This is Nintendo's usual spin on the numbers. We have to wait a while longer for actual hardware sales figures from NPD.

Software:

1.) Battlefield: Hardline (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, 360, PS3, PC)

2.) Bloodborne (PS4)

3.) Grand Theft Auto V (Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3)

4.) Mario Party 10 (Wii U)

5.) Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, PC)

6.) MLB 15: The Show (PS4, PS3)

7.) Minecraft (360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4)

8.) NBA 2K15 (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, PC)

9.) Borderlands: The Handsome Collection (PS4, Xbox One)

10.) Final Fantasy: Type 0 HD (PS4, Xbox One)

Notes:

-Mario Party 9: 290,000 (Digital + Physical)

-Majora's Mask: 184,000 (D+P, 730K LTD)

-Smash 3DS: 110,000 (D+P, 2.4M LTD)

-Smash Wii U LTD: 1.6 million

-Mario Kart 8 LTD: 1.9 million

-PS4 was number one in software sales.

Hardware:

PS4: #1 platform

3DS: ~260-270K

Wii U: ~80-85K

Notes:

-Wii U hardware is up approximately 20% year over year for the first three months of the year.

-3DS hardware is up approximately 80% year over year for the first three months of the year.

Impressive Bloodborne sales. Nice Mario party sales. Type-0 bombed hard.

Really good 3ds sales and the n3ds has injected life into a 4 year old platform. Nintendo clearly got their market research right when deciding US consumers preferred an XL version.

Wii u not great but it's shifting enough to ride out the generation.

Smash Bros 3DS is killing it. What a success!!!

Wow! Mario Party 10 actually did really well! It actually managed to outsell Mario Party 9's first month in the US!

That is legitimately surprising! About time the Wii U had a non Mario Kart/Smash sales success :yay:

As for updates on other games...

Fossil Fighters Frontier ~ 35k

Strike Team Eliminating the Alien Menace ~ 31k

LTD:

Captain Toad ~ 326k

Zombi U ~ 204k

Bayo 2 ~ 157k

TW101 ~ 104k

TEARAWAY ~ 75k

Kirby & The Rainbow Curse ~ 110k

CT is not too bad, considering that it's a budget spinoff made with an existing engine and re-uses a lot of art assets from SM3DW; should be at around 500,000 between US/JPN by now. Meanwhile, TW101 seems to have had some legs after all, which gives me a bit of hope that Bayo 2 will continue to climb a bit higher at least... it has already supposedly outsold what the PS3 version of Bayo 1 did in less than a third of the time (6 months on Wii U VS 18 months on PS3), and should be shooting for the 360 SKU 18 month figure shortly...

Speaking of legs, Kirby managed to basically sell exactly the same amount in March as what it sold at launch. Just a shame that its initial sales were horrible, because to not drop at all from initial sales numbers is indicative of very strong legs!

STEAM is an expected bomba sadly. Doesn't surprise me in the slightest, given how ridiculously niche it is.

I expected as much as well. The reviews weren't that great ( although the patch has made the game more playable ) and the art style they used turned a lot of people off it, myself included.

STEAM is an expected bomba sadly. Doesn't surprise me in the slightest, given how ridiculously niche it is.

Did Kirby suffer at launch due to Nintendo push MH & Zelda MM?
