mike-zim Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 finally it is here these are the most exciting times of the year for football fans. i am a liverpool fan so i am keeping a keen eye on what is going on. the purpose of the thread is to discuss rumours, signing will they be hero or zero. who is going to be the most active in this window. i will start off by saying i think portsmouth will be the busiest and i think old souness needs to buy soon to save his job.
Ramar Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 I sure hope Arsene Wenger opens that wallet, I think we need a defender, and a decent central midfielder. I think we've missed Vieira, and Fabregas or Flamini don't cut it, yet. As for Watford, they've signed Chris Eagles on loan, which is a good move. Rumour has it Aidy wants to sign Luke Chadwick, which wouldn't be such a good move.
James Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Well Liverpool have signed Kromkamp from Villarreal in a staright swap for Josemi, They appear to be on the verge of signing Daniel Agger or whatever his first name is, a defender for around £6 million. They also seem to be chasing up Simao, again. Although he will be cup tied for the champions league and the same goes for Kromkamp.
mike-zim Posted January 6, 2006 Author Posted January 6, 2006 Luke Chadwick is a good player. Fergie played him in the first team a fair amount of times so he is def prem quality. maybe bottom half of the tabble but still. one player arsenal must try and buy is Graveson. i know united want him but he is the holding midfielder that they are missing. and another centre back. arsenal are the best attcking team in the league. they just leak too many goals. EDIT: i dont think Simao is the player for liverpool. we would be better going for quakim or what ever his name is. we need the pace down the right. i say we need 2 for the right and sell pongol. he hasn't made it at liverpool i dont think he ever will. and i dont see garcia doing much more for us. lets cash in on him. he loses the ball too much.
James Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Garcia helps change the game, he may lose the ball alot but he's played a big part in the Premiership and Champo League this season, I think Joaquin will be to expensive for Liverpool although I do agree he is a quality player.
mike-zim Posted January 6, 2006 Author Posted January 6, 2006 portsmouth have just signed another quality african. a zimbabwean £4.5m. just waiting on a work permit. he wont get one with the way the country is in at the moment.
|Laguna| Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 V.Persie signed a new deal today, keeping at the club till 2011, wish Thierry would do the same. On the subject of Theirry, I would rather we sell him now/end of season and get mucho dinero for him so we can buy a replacement *eyes Torres*, instead of having him for another season but let him go on a free. Champions League must be acheived to keep Henry IMO. Hope Arsenal buy and strong centre mid and a midfielder who can play on the left or right as Freddie and Le Bob are showing their age and just not performing like they used to.
Jon Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Liverpool couldnt afford Joaquin, i dont think he would go there anywhere. Simao on the other hand is a brilliant plaer who i would see doing brilliantly for liverpool.
Charlie Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Roy Keane will be making his debut for Celtic on Sunday as Stillian Petrov is out injured for at least 3 weeks. Sutton has gone to Birmingham City for free
Platty Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Sutton was only any good at Norwich. Man United have signed 2 new defenders.. One being Vidic who is a quality centre back and the other some left back who is meant to be pretty good but i dont really see the point in that one with Heinze coming back in 2 months to be honest. Fergie should have gone for a holding midfielder.
Eddage Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 The left back is called Evra, and I'm pretty sure Heinze wont be coming back in the next 2 months, I thought he was still a major doubt for the World Cup, let alone making any sort of United appearance in the remainder of this season! And personally, even with Heinze back a player like Evra will give good options and means we wont have to rely on Mikael "one mistake a game" Silvestre ever again!

Thats crap for a start, not only did he form on of the best partnerships in premiership history with shearer, he has been awesome for celtic both at home and in europe.

Injury updates - 07/01/06 Heinze - knee (return date: 2 months) obviously that can change but hopefully not, he was one of the best players ive seen in a long time.
Eddage Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Fair enough, thats great news hes a fantastic defender! But I stand by my point that the Evra signing is a good move because now if something happens to Ferdinand or Vidic in the centre, Heinze could fill in there and Evra could cover in the middle and Mikael "can't concentrate for 90 seconds, let alone 90 minutes" Silvestre can sod off somewhere else!
elniro Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Mikael "one mistake a game" Silvestre ever again! wahahaha that made me laugh, he would be an excellent leftback but idiot always makes at leasst one mistake like u say i think wes brown is a class defender and hes still relatively young, he deserves to be playing regularly i think
mike-zim Posted January 13, 2006 Author Posted January 13, 2006 Thats crap for a start, not only did he form on of the best partnerships in premiership history with shearer, he has been awesome for celtic both at home and in europe. Well we will see. the point about him doing well for Celtic doesn't really hold water. how many average players have left england and done bloody well in scotland? it is like them going to league one and missing the championship all together. although that doesn't mean celtic and rangers i think they would be very good championship sides. anyway pompey have been busy and have bought 3 totenham players straight out. they might just stay up. i hope not i have £10 on them going down. liverpool finally signed a centre back. although he is not 100% fit at the moment he will be in a few weeks. hopefully Djimi Traore will be on his way. there is still the right winger situation though and not much talk about it.
Noodleman Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Liverpool couldnt afford Joaquin, i dont think he would go there anywhere. Simao on the other hand is a brilliant plaer who i would see doing brilliantly for liverpool. I bet they could, but h'es said he's not going anywere until after the world cup anyway. Anyway we signed Tony Thorpe until the end of the season the other day should be a good player for us I think. As long as we dont lose anybody I think the squads pretty good now.
James Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 looks like arsenal have won the race to sign Theo Walcott from Southampton, priced at around £15 million altogether.
mike-zim Posted January 13, 2006 Author Posted January 13, 2006 that is alot of money. especially for someone from the championship.

Yea a pretty good chapionship side, a side that had beaten liverpool more times than I can remember. A team that has beaten the best sides in Europe are a champion side at best?
mike-zim Posted January 13, 2006 Author Posted January 13, 2006 crystal palace did aswell this year. when liverpool have been their strongest for a long time. so i wouldn't hang on that too long. anyway this debate will never be proved or disproved untill there is some sort of british club competition. here is my idea. the carling cup is taken as a joke in england really and there must be a cup in scotland and ireland that is the same. how about having one cup that replaces them all? a competition where all british club sides are in the pot then we will see how good they are against each other. it also gives smaller sides a chance for some big money ties. what do you think?

This has been suggested many times but never seems to happen, Im all for it.
colormonkey Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Like you said Liverpool has signed Daniel Agger for around 6£. That is the biggest sale from a danish club ever. Many says he is the most talented defender ever from Denmark. Overall biggest since Michael Laudrup. So here ind Denmark we are expecting a lot from him ...
mike-zim Posted January 13, 2006 Author Posted January 13, 2006 it looks like simao wont be going any where. they have slapped a 20mil Euro price tag on him about £14m but liverpool and united are only willing to pay about £8m. next target please

How many Championship sides have got to the UEFA cup final recently? How many Championship sides have beaten Barcalona over 2 legs?
