Yes, that's a cool killstreak! You use what ever makes you happy. You don't have to talk or to have a headset, but it does make it better for co-ordination. If you want to play in clan matches you'd need a headset, but if you're just playing for fun on a regular night it's not the end of the world :)

Who are you and what have you done with Zechs.

Just looked at the tech specs for the Wii U and everyone will be happy to know that this runs on 802.11n so you don't have to worry about throughput speed. You know... unless you put yours next to the microwave or something.

The team can always do with a guy who's good at shooting down UAVs and enemy air support! I'm sure you'll fit in just fine.

It be good if elite came to Wii U then we can compete with other clans and see out stats

That is a strange one! Probably the server being particularly picky about dst. addresses and doesn't like NAT or something. That or some strange TTL issue and having the router is just one too many hops. It could be tons of things but yeah, fingers crossed for the Wii U

Could you do a test for 3ds. My mate has huge problems with it, so does @david\.dakota. Primarily on mario kart 7 weirdly rather than the 3ds in general. The eshop and other games seem to be fine...

I'll see what I can do/find out. Shame cos I just sold my MK7 for Wii U funding. I'll have to use Kid Ic to compare but the servers and matching could always work differently.

Just in case anyone has any online/router or Wii U vs Firewall problems, I'm looking into doing a full traffic analysis from the Wii U as a bit of a pet project. Should be able to tell people about the ports they will need to free up and I'll be monitoring traffic over a period of time so might even be able to find out when updates tend to get rolled out how certain online functions are handled.

Would anyone be interested in this?

I'd be interested in see your results just for informational purposes :D

I set up my Wii in a DMZ so I don't have to worry about my firewalls and ports. Will do the same with my WiiU. :D

(Though the annoying thing is my home router only allows for one device in the DMZ so I don't have my 3DS in there but so far not had any issues with my 3DS games online)

Its my router, if I use wireless or wired connection through it, I'll get kicked from lobbies on COD (no other online games were really affected).

My solution was to plug the ethernet cable for the Wii directly into my cable modem, no problems when connected that way.

No problems with my 3DS via the router.

Blagged a new superhub and 10mb increase free of charge from Virgin Media yesterday, so hopefully have that up and running next week and that'll hopefully be the end of my problems, just in time for Wii U.

Can you check the settings of the the router and see if it has a DMZ option? If yes set up your Wii with a static IP address (not auto assigned....if you don't know how send me a PM) then add the Wii's IP address to the DMZ settings on the router and see how things are then.

I tried this when I first started getting kicked out of the lobby of Black Ops and again when it was always making me host on MW3.

Didn't make a difference unfortunately.

Just read back over your posts Lost, you said it only happens when using your Wii wirelessly? Does it still happen with the new router you got? Could be some kind of interferance causing packets to be dropped?

Is your router in the same room as the Wii?

No he said wired too. Probably some fucking evil UPnP in the router or something to do with address handling. As others have suggested, if you can grab a static, i'd go for it.

No he said no issues when he used the LAN adaptor to wire it to the router

My solution was to plug the ethernet cable for the Wii directly into my cable modem, no problems when connected that way.

But that a good point too, I forgot about UPnP, Lost have a look and see if you can turn that feature off on your router.

But as he's got no issues with his 3DS I wonder if there's a difference in the physical layout?

Are the Wii and router in different rooms and he just happens to play the 3DS in the same room as the router? (or maybe sits closer to it?)

Is there some other device between the Wii and router that could cause interference?

Hmmm, I like the Guardian killstreak reward, so I would like to go with that.

Really? I mean REALLY?

You want this thing? A stationary shield? That sits there?

Not a chopper? Or dogs? Or a guy with a gun? Or a big dragon?

You're welcome to have that, but it's just a bit, you know... it just sits there?

To be fair it does look pretty effective if you get in its way. Campers galore will enjoy the hell out of that.

It'll be great for CTF for cutting off pathways of flag runners.

Some first impressions from people playing the game:

- Multiplayer very smooth

- Fast moving (like MW3)

- Weapon balance and time to kill more like Black Ops

- Heavy use of SMGs, not ARs

- Few people using high end killstreaks as they're very hard to get

- UAV is being used constantly

- Not many using Ghost as it's Levl 55 unlock (so your blackbird ain't gonna be as useful as in Black Ops @kav82)

- Maps a little smaller and more focused than Black Ops

- Snipers very annoying, potentially need patching/tweaking

Review (albeit the 360 version) is up at IGN...

For those wondering about prestige...

While I appreciate the rush that leveling up and unlocking items provides, it always felt strange to reward you with a stat reset after hitting the cap and Prestiging. Apparently some wise people at Treyarch agreed. Unlike previous games, after each of the 10 levels of Prestige you won’t have your stats reset, but instead continue your weapon experience and challenge progress and earn even more rewards. For starters you now get a token that allows you to unlock any item regardless of its level requirement, forever. In addition you also get a Prestige Token that nets you either an additional Create a Class slot, a refund on all unlock tokens you’ve spent during your progress to date, or the more traditional character wipe that resets all your stats. This completely changes my attitude towards Prestiging, and makes it something I actually want to do.

@Zechs Merquise I know what you mean that it won't quite be as useful as normal (the Orbital VSAT, as it is in this) but it's not the highlighting of Ghost users I used it for but for the fact it shows you the direction the enemy is travelling/facing. This is it's major quality, I think it's great!
