Wesley
Free or otherwise? I remember the general consensus being that AVG was best. But... I'm still using AVG and it's not great to be honest. It's also very intrusive and annoying to use.
Mr_Odwin
Common sense. But then it's you so ... I don't use one. Freewise, is there much between AVG, Avast, MSE, Comodo? I dunno.
S.C.G
Avira... either Free or Subscription, both are good but I'd recommend subscribing to get the 'full' version, especially when they lower the sub price quite regularly; you could do a lot worse than just trying the Free version anyway. Emasher
MSE plus using your head will usually be fine. If its for parents/grandparents I would go with Avast due to its extra notification features.
triforcemario
I recommend either Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials (as long as your copy of Windows is original, if not, say goodbye to virus protection xD)
Rummy
Ten10 was speaking the virtues of Commodo in a very similar recent thread, my McAfee is due up soon and I'll probably go with that and see tbh.
Cube
I use Microsoft Security Essentials because it's extremely "quiet" and doesn't get in the way of anything.
Shorty
I quite like Avast! Free, but it's gotten quite bulky these days... First thing to do if you get it though, register (for free, any email address) just so you don't get bugged about it 30 days later and turn off the sounds. Wesley
I think I might go for MSE. I wouldn't want to go for no protection, because although I'm generally pretty safe, I do often download certain things (no not porn) where viruses can be common.
