Ville Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 I think Bansheon is great but Armeon for me doesn't look as well drawn/designed. May just be personal taste. A great idea though. Yeah, I think these Eeveelutions are actually your weakest designs thus far Hamish. Seem very simple...Bansheon is ok, but somehow I was expecting a full metal Eevee instead of those armours Still, the other Eevee designs are pretty basic, so I guess you took this to consideration as well? The only other designs I haven't been too keen on were the 2 legendaries. Somehow very generic...Other than that, it's been pretty good and mostly great. And the gargoyles? Totally awesome

Totally awesome I think Leafeon and Glaceon are pretty rubbish, to be honest, so I looked at Espeon and Umbreon as inspiration. If you look at Espeon especially, it's pretty basic. And I like that. I love Bansheon, it's one of my favourites but Armeon is kinda bland. But then as I've said I find eeveelutions pretty bland anyway, and steel pokemon are among my least favourite. I may try it again but I wanna get to 100. Also don't worry, the legendaries are getting redrawn when I get to them. In fact, the next two I do are the fire/water types and then we're into the legendaries. The legendary trio, and then some big ones. And I'm gonna quote this because whenever my new Fakemon are the last post on a page, nobody seems to spot them. I kind of agree. Ville Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Yeah, Glaceon isn't really that great...so actually Bansheon is pretty solid in the other Eevee company Btw, is there some backstory to the forked tail, or did you just decide to make it that way? Scapula: nice Wimple: good, though it's like smt is still missing...bland face maybe? And nice job with the descriptions...a spot-on reflection of the real world religious narrow-mindedness and self-contradictions.
Ellmeister Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 I think the two worshipping pokemon are great! What would you consider their stats to be like? I believe Wimple to be faster but has lower defence as opposed to Scapula who has higher defence (looks fatter/more sturdy ) but slower.

And nice job with the descriptions...a spot-on reflection of the real world religious narrow-mindedness and self-contradictions. The tail is meant to look a bit like a spine, or bone-like. I didn't want to be too controversial but I wanted to do a religious Pokémon. I'm in the "religion has done more harm that good" camp of people but I know Pokémon isn't really the place to have these kinds of debate. But when you look at Sunni and Shiite Muslims who blow each other up, Catholic and Protestants and you think "For fuck's sake, you have so much in common... why all the fighting?" Especially when both sides report to preach peace. I think the two worshipping pokemon are great! What would you consider their stats to be like? I believe Wimple to be faster but has lower defence as opposed to Scapula who has higher defence (looks fatter/more sturdy ) but slower. I think something along that. They are different Pokemon, but I'd like them to be evenly matched. I actually prefer Armeon to Bansheon. And Jolteon is my least favourite of the bunch. I think I just plain don't like Eevee. I love these two. Cheers. :P I love you too.
Coolness Bears Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Teroralgar is my favourite he is highly amusing. I only care for hilarious Pokemon.
Hamishmash Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 Teroralgar is my favourite he is highly amusing. I only care for hilarious Pokemon. Teroralgar is actually one of my favourites. I don't think people spotted his awesomeness.
Coolness Bears Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 He is badass. Do want a cuddley plushie of him.
chairdriver Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Speed feels the most irrelevant pokemon stat though.
Eddage Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Speed feels the most irrelevant pokemon stat though. You crazy? Speed is almost essential, nothing like coming out fast and hitting hard before your opponent can do anything to stop you. If anything it's one of the most important stats!
Paj! Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 It is useful to be faster, but I still have absolutely NO idea what the purpose of moves that increase/decrease speed are. What a waste of a turn...
Ellmeister Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 It is useful to be faster, but I still have absolutely NO idea what the purpose of moves that increase/decrease speed are. What a waste of a turn... Surely it depends if you know the fight will be longer than a couple of turns or that it will prepare you if you switch pokemon?
Paj! Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 But..you'd in most/all? cases be increasing speed so your ATTACKS would land before the oponents. But..why not just attack instead of increasing your speed so they MIGHT (not a guarantee of course) land sooner next time? Just means you take two attacks while only dishing out 1. (or none, if your speed still isnt above the opponents) I'm sure there's some finesse tactic to use it with, but I've never come across a need to increase or decrease any Pokemon's speed. Nice if it's a side-effect (like of Flame Charge), but as the WHOLE point of a move - I don't get it. If a move drastically lowers my speed, meaning the opposing poke can attack straight after...how is that any different from just attacking me the turn before instead of lowering my speed?
Eddage Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 It is useful to be faster, but I still have absolutely NO idea what the purpose of moves that increase/decrease speed are. What a waste of a turn... Well, lets say you've got a pokemon like Metagross. Massive attack and good defence so you know it can take some hits. Metagross can learn agility, so if you use that a couple of times then you'll be faster than most other pokemon meaning you can OHKO (with the high attack) a lot of opponents. Admittedly in random battles it's not useful, but against opponents with a full team of pokemon it can be the difference between winning and losing.
Paj! Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Ok. That makes sense I guess. In competitive/tournament stuff, which I never take part in.
Hamishmash Posted May 29, 2011 Author Posted May 29, 2011 NEED HELP. Can't tell if these are good. This is Tectanik which is a Fire/Water type based on undersea volcanoes. It is a Pokemon with two different forms. The forms have different stats and the fire type is more prominent in the one on the right while the water type is more prominent in the one on the left. But yeah... I dunno if they work...
Paj! Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 The one on the left is done, maybe the face on the right form (I know they're meant to be the same...) could be more...definitive. Or the body be more dynamic.
Diageo Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 I like the one of the left. The one on the right looks a bit plain, especially the lava on its feet and torso. I think they both need more prominent faces though.
Hamishmash Posted May 30, 2011 Author Posted May 30, 2011 Cool. Thanks guys, I'll work on a redesign when I get home. However... I've had this idea for a game and I'm sure everyone's had the same idea but I might want to do some drawings for it. MARIOMON: Super Mario Monsters Mario is summoned to the castle with a special assignment. Toadsworth has declared that a census be taken of the Mushroom Kingdom and it's surrounding areas so they can determine how many different kinds of species live here. He gives a choice of companion... a Goomba (grass type), a Bob-Omb (fire type) and a Blooper (water type) and also gives you 5 Blocks (? Blocks used to capture monsters). And so you go off into the Mushroom kingdom, collecting creatures like Boo (ghost type), Shy Guys (psychic type) and Monty Mole (ground). There's Lakitu (flying), Buzzy Beetle (steel / bug) and Spiney (poison / bug). You might even manage to get Bowser (fire / dragon) or Wart (water / dragon). The legendaries would be Star Sprites. The versions would be MARIOMON Twinkly Twilight and MARIOMON Sparkly Sunset. You might also battle your rivals, Wario and Waluigi who want the reward for completing the census. Or Bowser and Wart themselves that don't want to be counted! You'd also evolve as usual... so Koopa Troopa - Paratroopa. But because of the variety of villains in Mario games, more monsters would have alt-evos. Bowser has also sent out his 8 children to live in castles (gyms) and battle you. You're gonna need all their keys if you're going to enter his castle and try and catch him!
