No, I ignore them, not contact the people directly and call them shit. What about the adverts that blow thread? People put a lot of work into those adverts, are you going to go and defend them as well? No, because people aren't directly insulting the creators to their face, so there's no one to defend. Plus, why would I want to go into a thread where the sole purpose is to watch adverts that I'll probably hate? Frankly if you come on to a discussion board purely to advertise your game, and make no effort to become part of the community, then you can hardly expect people to welcome you with open arms. True, but it hardly justifies calling his work rubbish and shit. I'm not criticizing the lack of a warm welcome, I'm criticizing the hostile one he got. In fact considering his first post was an advert I'd say the first page was pretty warm and welcoming. It was on the second page when Ell said that his game was rubbish. Sure not exactly constructive criticism, but if you go to a community purely to advertise your game then you can't expect everyone to be so helpful or positive. This is a discussion board, so he put his game up for discussion. Rather than asking Ell why he thought the game was rubbish (which would be the sensible thing to do) he just called him a liar. Clearly he wasn't interested in constructive criticism or discussion, hence my "Ell was right, it's shit" post. When he got defensive about that I did try to offer constructive criticism, but he just responded by calling me a liar and saying I know nothing of coding. Sure I/Ell could have offered constructive criticism from the start, but considering his reaction to it later, and his clear intention of solely spreading his advert, I doubt it would have been wanted anyway. No, I ignore them, not contact the people directly and call them shit. I didn't go and contact him directly. He came here, to a discussion board. If you post an advert on a discussion board then expect it to be discussed. In the same way that if you bother somebody in the street then you can't always expect a warm reception. Sure I didn't do it in a friendly way, but he clearly wasn't here to make friends, or build up a friendly atmosphere, or become part of the community, so why should I treat him like one? I gave up my time to try a game that was very buggy, a huge rip off and I stand by my initial description of shit. I don't have to give constructive criticism if I don't want to. I can describe what I thought and leave it at that. If he wants to be rude let him. I'm actually very impressed with the artwork and changes now made.
