WWII provides an excellent origin for Captain America and a nice contrast from what he used to fight into what he will with the Avengers. I was a bit worried they might try and shoehorn in quite a bit of The Avengers into the last third or something in order to set that one up. But with the other good news that they are keeping The Avengers cast down to characeters we are already familiar with (bar Hawkeye), they don't have to do that!
