I've already had a rant today over on HCR because they've doing a "HCRealms Contest", which you can only enter if you're at the convention, and if you purchase the Colossal Dr. Manhattan figure (which I never would because the design is so awful), so really it's not a HCRealms contest, but a "contest for people with loads of disposable income".

Some Smallville info:

Episode 1: Lazarus: UPDATED 7/22/10: New from Ausiello: "There’s a development [between Lois and Clark] in the premiere that is so ginormous you’d think Smallville was heading into its final season or something."

UPDATED 7/20/10: A sequence for the season premiere was filmed last week on location at the Kent Farm. The scene involved Tom Welling and John Schneider. (Thanks to "TWismycrush" on the KryptonSite Forums for that info!)

UPDATED 7/17/10: An enemy from Clark's past factors heavily into this story.

- There is a visit to the JSA brownstone in the season premiere.

- The show's producers have hinted that a mysterious "Skeleton Key" also is a part of the episode.

(If reposting this on another site, please be courteous and don't copy every single word - just send people here to read it all. Thanks!)

UPDATED 7/15/10: The presence of Jonathan Kent is just one of the big surprises planned for the episode.

- Chances are good that we will find an answer to whether or not Lois figured out Clark's "other identity" in this one.

Episode 2: Shield: Written By: Jordan Hawley

UPDATED 7/22/10: EW's Ausiello has confirmed that "Nancie" is indeed Cat Grant. Though we can't confirm it, a blonde is either close to or has already gotten the role...

- Apparently the "Liam" character is also a code for someone else. By the way, he's not a cowboy, just acts like one - and he has a bullet with Clark's name written on it.

UPDATED 7/19/10: KryptonSite can confirm that Michael Shanks will be appearing as Hawkman in this episode.

- It seems they might be casting the role of "Shayera" aka Hawkgirl for this episode, though this has not been confirmed by the studio, nor are we 100% sure this is for "Shield." Read the speculation at Rumorville.

UPDATED 7/14/10: Title Revealed. Please do not re-post without a LINK to KryptonSite and acknowledging the source.

- A really annoying-seeming character named "Nancie" who has a son is in this episode. She comes to work at the Daily Planet, and she seems to be filling in while Lois is... where? We don't know. At one point she listens on the radio to someone named "Godfrey," which could be a reference to Glorious Godfrey of Darkseid lore. The radio "Godfrey" has a thing against "the hero menace," much like he did in the 1980's Legends comic book series.

- A character from the comics who works at the Daily Planet and at one point had a young son is Cat Grant. Could "Nancie" be a "Cassie/Zatanna, Melissa/Maxima" like diversion?

- The episode also includes a modern day cowboy named Liam who's gunning after Clark Kent - and a woman with the ability to teleport.

Episode 3: Supergirl: Written By: Anne Cofell Saunders

UPDATED 7/14/10: Laura Vandervoort's return episode is called "Supergirl."

Episode 4: Homecoming: Written By: Brian Peterson & Kelly Souders

UPDATED 7/15/10: Title Revealed. Please do not re-post without a LINK to KryptonSite and acknowledging the source.

- The 200th episode is not the one that brings back Kara (that would be "Supergirl," which may be #3, may be #5... nothing's been confirmed).

UPDATED 7/14/10: This will be the 200th episode of Smallville.

It feels like everyone I follow on Twitter is going to this thing. It's my ambition to get out there for this next year and one day be significant enough to actually have a presence there with my work.

Anyone for an N-Europe pilgrimage to this next year?

If by some bizarre twist of fate/act of God/mass selling of my body I get the Pixar Internship I intend to apply for sure.

It's official: Joss Whedon is directing the Avengers movie!

At the Visionaries panel at Comic Con Joss Whedon announced that he is officially directing The Avengers, "Because Marvel can't afford the press release."

As for how he's thinking of approaching the movie, Joss had this to say:

I'm still writing the outline. I am at the stage where I am reworking and reworking. What I love about this is that there is no way that these people should be in the same room together, let alone the same team. And that, to me, is the definition of family.
