chairdriver Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 It's so tempting to read that... Read it. The story is so predictable it will make no difference if you do.
EEVILMURRAY Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Read it. The story is so predictable it will make no difference if you do. But I haven't seen Pocahontas either.
Jonnas Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 "remote wilderness of the suburbs"? "wise" Hagrid? I suppose that with such vague synopses, any comparison is possible. I fully agree with the Avatar/Pocahontas comparison, though. There truly isn't much difference between the two plots (except for details, like secondary characters)
chairdriver Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 This is fun. To be fair, the Harry Potter films lacked everything that made the books remotely worth reading, including a comprehensible plot. Plus, the original Star Wars has a really basic storyline. But it had likable and real characters (both Leia and Han are so essential), which Avatar doesn't really have (I hate Jake/Sam).
Ashley Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Always going one step further; in Korea Avatar is 4D! I want to go to that.
Beast Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 (edited) Personally, I absolutely adored Avatar. It's also my 'first' 3D movie I've seen and I thought it was awesome. I've seen it four times, I just love Pandora and I generally love the movie. I get that the story is blatantly Pocahontas but you do get movies that unintentionally tend to rip off other movies. One comes straight to mind: Porky's and American Pie. Not rating of how much I enjoyed it but rating on the movie, I would probably give it an 8/10 or 9/10 but in 3D it would be a 10 for me. So yeah, I love it but hey, everyone has an opinion : peace: Always going one step further; in Korea Avatar is 4D! I want to go to that. I wouldn't mind seeing that either...
