EA seem to have put a good ammount of effort into this!

It would make for a nice alternative to Wii Fit for those getting a bit bored of that.

Also like that they're including some work out equipment with the game.

That actually doesn't look too bad and looks like it'll actually be able to help with the likes of fitness or potential weightloss depending on why people are playing it. WiiFit, not to take anything away from it, didn't really incorporate much in the way of proper fitness exercises and while the yoga thing was in there, not everyone is capable of doing that. So this acts as a nice alternative to WiiFit. If I was lazy and couldn't be bothered to go out for a run then this'd probably do the job.

Looks interesting, I found myself using Wii Fit daily for about 5 months last summer/autumn. But I found the various tasks and exercises got too repititive. If only the game could hook up to the net and download extra exercises to make the game fresh.

The leg strap looks like a blessing for this game, on Wii Fit the running suggests placing it in your pocket, but if you're like me busting out some shorts, you either have no pockets or they're too loose.

Could prove to be a good rival for Wii Fit. I'm currently on a little fitness craze and have started a Wii Fit routine again, so I shall probably snap this up.

To be honest I'm surprised that Nintendo haven't released a sequel to Wii Fit yet, surely they have more planned for the brilliant peripheral we paid £70 for?

Yeah actually, what one earth are Nintendo themselves doing with the balance board!

We've got Shaun White, We Ski and Snowboard, EA Sports Active, Skate-It, Marbles!, that boxing game...

But nothing new or even announced from Nintendo! and the balance board came out about a year or so ago now!

Not even Punch-Out's using it is it?

"Well virtual fitness is a really growing market. We want to get a piece of it. We're EA SPORTS!"

That made me laugh for some reason.

Looks good game wise.

I think this looks better than Wii fit so I hope it gets a japanese release. It should as Wii Fit sold so well, EA would be crazy to ignore Japan.

I am glad you dont need to use the Wii Fit board.

Huh. It's not out yet and it's only £35!! I'm tempted by this if it's more of an exercise than Wii Fit (which I use pretty much every day)...but want to know reviews/opinions!

Posted

Sorry, saw the release date after I'd posted. My other half read about it in a mag in the hairdressers and the rrp was £45 but Amazon seem to have it for a tenner cheaper.

The review in ONM is pants but that's to be expected as it's a direct competitor to Nintendo's own Wii Fit and cheaper too. Will probably just wait and see what others think first. I have Wii Fit but to be honest only use it to weigh myself. I joined a fitness bootcamp in my local park, which is a killer and will get me properly fit but there are 3 week gap between camps so I'm looking for something to motivate me during that time. If I get Sports Active, I'll combine it will real-world jogging anyway as I don't think that jogging on the spot stuff works that well. We use resistance bands at bootcamp and they are really versatile so I was partly tempted by this game because it comes with a band and related exercises.

What did the review say? To be honest, what I've seen of it so far looks very promising, especially with the arm band providing more opportunity to tone up your muscles. It seems to be a more comprehensive fitness package than Wii Fit, albeit lacking 'that Nintendo charm'.

Good review on gonintendo (eurogamer I think)...I'm tempted to get this...

Does anyone know how much it is in game, gamestation, hmv?

I use Wii Fit most days and have lost a stone over the past 6-8 weeks, so that's great. But it's pretty limiting in terms of fitness; I've got a good 40 minute routine on it which is knackering and has some good build, but of this one is better for that stuff then I may go for it. I like the yoga on Wii Fit so I'll stick with that, but if I can tone better on EA then that would be really good.

My other concern is that there isn't much room in my bedroom...does this have loads of exercises that require a lot of space?

I played on this for about a hour yesterday and really enjoyed it, it's up there with Wii Fit, my mum said she prefers it, which surprised me! It just has more to do and is actually a fun way to exercise, using the balance board in games like In-line Skating, beach volleyball and basketball works really well! and i definately worked up a sweat! I'll be using it again today! :)

Sold some Wii games and bought this; only had a mooch around and everything looks pretty impressive so far. Going to start my 30 day challenge later on, I'll feedback with my report! But really like the look of it so far!

Okay, started my 30 day challenge. I like it a lot; I got up a big sweat in the game, which was surprising as I actually thought it was all pretty easy (sometimes disappointingly easy), but by the end I was full on sweating, so it must have been good.

It gave me a series of activites which were repeated (which Im not sure I like); and it's mildly annoying getting the balance board out, putting it away, getting the strap out, putting it away etc. But this is a minor niggle.

But it did seem very easy (I went on the middle intensity). Inline skating was beyond easy but pretty fun (though fun for how long remains to be seen), and the resistence strap offers pretty much no resistence - can you buy these straps? And ones with more resistence?

I'll see how I get on tomorrow, but so far so good; and possibly a better exercise than Wii Fit...

Thinking about getting the Japanese version on import. Can anyone just let me know if the menu's and tasks will be easy enough to navigate through in Japanese. I cant imagine it being that difficult just wanted to double check.
