I'm looking forward to it, but I can't shake the niggly feeling that it's going to be terrible. There were a couple of good bits in that preview, but in general, it just wasn't that funny. I definitely prefer there to be a laughter track too - it just feels.. empty without one.

I'm disappointed that there may be a movie or new series after this, as I was hoping for Back to Earth to bring closure to the series. If it all ends with Lister setting up home on Fiji, I'll be very happy indeed, no matter how funny (or unfunny) the rest of the show was.

Agreed! It's always been the series ultimate ending...

Where can I watch the preview?

youtube link I posted earlier.

For those of you who aren't going to be able to catch it everyday its all repeated back to back on Dave on Monday night.

The review at Digital Spy isn't too favourable. The first half an hour, in particular, is slated, and it says the rest doesn't really live up to the hype either. :hmm:

Well, i never listen to reviews, i watch things and judge them for myself to see if they are any good.

Got Sky+ set-up for this, looking forward.

Well I'm gonna say from the 3 clips I have seen it doesn't impress me...

I have to admit its actually causing me a fair deal of stress worrying about which Rimmer it is...as the two are very different. In Series 8 it's only the Rimmer who has been resurrected with the rest of the crew, I'd prefer it if they somehow explain the Rimmer we know from all the series, who went off to be Ace Rimmer returning (actually an unfilmed ending to Series 8) and that's why he is again a hologram....but I think it's more likely they will gloss over it...

Last night I finished watching all the DVD's episodes and special features in readiness for this, despite me feeling it won't live up to hype (but what does these days?) am still uber excited.

Mate. I want this. Inside me. I'm gonna be out tonight though!! OUT. I'm very nearly tempted to come home just for it, or force it on if I'm at someone's house. Seen the ads on Dave, looking...interesting. I wanna see how it's held up, but I for some reason just can't imagine it hasn't. I reckon it'll still have some of the classic magic there. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...then I jizzed in my pants.

Yeah we are having a BBQ this afternoon and then booze etc...into the night, I hope A. Everyone is so drunk by then it kinda fades out or B. It's shit so no one notices if I disappear to watch Red Dwarf, failing that the old V+ box has got my back covered.

It has made me wonder which of the two Rimmers they will use, will it be the series 8 ressureced one or the one that became Ace Rimmer that we knew and loved (well, not sure on that point).

I thought of the possibility of Lister and Co coming back through the mirror universe, save the ship with the virus cure but then find Rimmers body/ash pile and ressurect him as a hologram. But then he won't be hard light due to Ace having that feature.

Quite a decent return overall I thought considering how long it's been, what did everyone else think of the latest ep? I enjoyed it personally. :)

Seriously?! Nothing happened really! I feel perhaps in the context of the other two episodes it may fit better...I'm gutted I wasn't expecting it but I want to know what happened 9 years ago... I want to know which Rimmer it is...clearly not the one who became Ace Rimmer. Even if they gave us a quick text run like they did after Series II that would have been something.

Ah well Gunmen of the Apocalypse is on now...here's a real Red Dwarf episode.

I don't think it's meant to follow on the story. Just be 3 new episodes in their own right, based on the original concept.

You're right, not an awful lot happened, but then it's about showing how the group are functioning - it's about showing us how they changed, but also that they are still essentially the same people we've followed for all this time.

Was it worth the wait? I'd say on the whole yes - it felt comfortable if not particularly adventurous. But then, I wasn't expecting to be blown away after the last series so it was still a pleasant surprise.

And a quick question if I may, after they rebuilt Red Dwarf and her crew, what actually happened to the nano bots?

I've got a feeling they'll explain something about how this linked on from the cliffhanger at the end of series eight somehow. They're bound to say more about Kochanski's demise, at least.

Wasn't expecting much from the episode, and I certainly didn't watch it for the comedy value - more to see the guys back together again and find out 'what happens next'. In that respect, I wasn't disappointed. I was also impressed by the special effects (well, apart from those 'testicles'!). I think that if it'd had a laughter track it probably would have seemed funnier, but like I said, I didn't watch it for the laughs. I can't compare it to older episodes, it was so different. Just a nice bonus for the fans. Still holding ou for the Fiji ending. :)

If that's the case why bother having Nine Years Later up on the screen afterwards...

They buggered off I think...It was explained...

Thats exactly how I took it, granted I'm not a huge fan of the series, I enjoyed watching the older series of it years back but I never took it any more seriously than that; while it's true that this latest episode hasn't really got anything on the previous series I still thought it was good, a few moments put a smile on my face and thats all I expected from it tbh so I wasn't disapointed. :)
