Getting a PS3, games worth buying?

Ok, first off, don't kill me just yet, my father's the one who wants to buy it... One day I'll buy a 360 for myself, lol.

Anyway, as my father's probably getting one, I might as well buy some games that rock for it, right?

So, pretty much, here's my list of "to-buy on the day when I purchase the console"

MGS4 (Obviously... lol), this one will be on me.

PES 2008, Motorstorm and Virtua Fighter 5 wich are on my dad's tab, I was just put in charge of picking goog games on cathegories that he likes... And I'm actually looking forward to playing Motorstorm. And Virtua Fighter I was gonna buy either way on the 360 (eventually).

So, my point is...

A:

What other good racing games are there? Because as much as I love the offroad feel of Motorstorm, it really isn't my dad's "thing". Burnout Paradise any good?

B:

What games should I consider buying for myself, other than these:

- Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

- Resistance: FOM

I don't care for Ratchet And Clank.

AND I'm talking about exclusives only, as I much preffer the 360's controller over to the ps3 one.

If I had a PS3 I'd snap up Ridge Racer 7 right away, but it's one of those series you either like or you don't. Another game I'd buy, if it weren't for the fact I own it on the X360, is Colin McRae Dirt; I bought it having enjoyed the demo, but it surprised me and turned out to be fantastic. :) Resistance: Fall Of Man is an obvious purchase though even my PS3-owning friends (yeah, I've got friends) felt somewhat disappointed by it, as did a mass of critics.

Burnout Paradise is controversial. You either love it or you hate it. Then there's also Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Although driving simulators aren't for everyone.

Good exclusives are; Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Warhawk and Heavenly Sword (no depth in the combat though) for the few hours it lasts.

I know you say exclusives only, but it's worth getting Call of Duty 4 because it really is the same as the 360 version and then you won't have to wait till you get a 360.

But that's just it, I'm not anxious... I don't mind waiting. :heh: And Ps3 controller = teh sux, so... :(

For things like shooters then yeah, but for everything else, like beat-em-ups or platformers (hm both these genre's are a bit dead now) the ps3 pads own. Just a shame that the market is saturated with so many shooters, as if I haven't played that type of thing before on the PC ¬_¬

I don't think the ps3 pad owns at anything tbh lol

True, because only the weak play fighters with n00bsticks.

The PS3 pad is equal to the PS2 pad, correct? Then allow me to say the following, Playstation controllers have THE WORST analog ever made. THE! FUCKING! WORST! EVER! MADE! And that's basically what gameplay boils down to, because X, square, circle and triangle are just the same as other controllers and as for the D-pad, it stands side to side with the 360 one. As for the shoulder buttons, I will never understand who the fuck made the decision to have 4 shoulder buttons as it's possibly the most unhelpfull of possible placements of extra buttons! Add to that the fact that the controller becomes quite a pain (literally) to hold on to for long periods of time, and you get at this brilliant conclusion: it's the worst controller available. And you know it.

And don't come talking to me about "getting used to it", because that's exactly what it's not supposed to be (counter-intuitive, that is). It should adapt to you, not the other way around...

I know pretention when I see it (I need only look at an internetpersona-mirror) and let me tell you this, when it comes to user friendly products, Sony is the most tight-ass pretentious company there is. :)

I can also change from one controller to the next with no problems. However i don't like the trigger buttons on the PS3 pad and i prefer the positioning of the joystick on 360 rather than it being further down on the PS3.

Overall though i'm not arsed, i just get on with my gaming!

*ahem* I never made any mention of the 'noobsticks' as 'the Bard' referred to them. Admiteddly, when i talk about the ps3 pad, i am talking about the ps2 one which I played a fair few beat-em-ups on, and found far more useful and productive than when doing the same on the xbox. Dpads being the same? HELL NO! Im sorry but when i press left and my character jumps instead! No, just no. Same goes with pro evo, dpad all the way and the ps2/3 one owns the 360. The sticks on the ps2 pad I have never been a fan of. Preferred the n64 version and still do.

The new shoulder buttons are abhorent but they are going back to the ps2 version so buy the time i get one, I will be satisfied as thats what I am used to. And doesn't the 360 have buttons placed similarly at the top of the pad just like the Dual shock, just little difference in size and placing?

And I will repeat myself, I generally play my shooters on my pc. Nothing beats mouse and keyboard.

EDIT: oh and I never really got to play in arcades so never got used to the sticks. Although I would have got to play on, what would have practically been my very own one if my friend didn't bottle it in a Virtua Fighter 4 competition but meh :blank: *still bitter*
